Except, you know, they've actually found fossilized feathers on some dinosaurs.
Except you know, I'm not saying dinosaurs didn't have feathers. Bird related smaller and medium theropods did have them (as I said in my previous comment). There are some artworks of Ixalan dinosaurs that are accurate - birdlike flying dinosaurs and raptor like dinosaurs indeed more or less had them. But all the other FEW cases of "feathered dinosaurs", had a thing called proto feathers which aren't actual feathers. There's where the disinformation comes from. It's a very huge, misleading claim with little to none actual evidence. Proto feather's didn't look like feathers - more like fur or porcupine's spikes. Read what I said about sauropods and large t-rex like theropods. I'm saying that not all, but those designs in particular are unrealistic. Actual-feather looking things don't go on them. I think I also saw a feathered triceratops in the leaks - that's fantasy as well. We have evidence of a particular category of dinosaurs sporting feathers and feather-like things, then we have a few cases of dinosaurs from different categories having either fur like proto-feather covering or quill-like things on their tails (both of which may or may not end up being related to threropods' feathers, since it's very hard to say if those're feather-like to begin with). That's it. All the rest is speculation with no proof. Yet you have clickbait articles all over the place that push poorly-interpreted disinformation as a fact and misleads people into thinking all/most dinosaurs vere covered in actual-feather looking things. Which is as far as you go from "scientifically accurate".
While that is true, you can't expect 100% scientific accuracy in a fantasy based collectible card game, particularly not when we don't know how many dinosaurs had feathers to begin with (a little hard to do when they were around for around a hundred million years and we only know a small percentage of the potential species that existed).
But I promise you, if I ever get my hands on a time machine, the third thing I'll do is find out at least if some non-theropods had feathers. I'll even take pictures (and video).

Well, the mesoamerican mythology puts feathers on snakes as well, so it just seems appropriate to put feathers on the mesoamerican-myth-inspired-plane-inhabiting dinosaurs as well - whether scientifically accurate or not.
Also this isn't a T-Rex - it's a Regisaur!

I don't have a problem with fantasy. I have a problem with all those users in this thread and even wizards themselves saying those designs are scientifically accurate, while they clearly aren't. That is my only complain.
Well, wizards are technically correct when they claim that the dinosaurs are scientifically accurate, as we have no way of knowing what a dinosaur would look like in another reality.
On a more serious note, I fully understand where you are coming from, I once had a biology teacher who was utterly convinced that the Ptranodon and other winged reptiles from the age of the dinosaur were mammals. But then again, he was a fundie that believed that the Earth was only 6k years old and had no business teaching biology. Particularly not in Scandinavia. The dude didn't even believe in evolution, even when presented with solid evidence. >.<
But at least the theropods are scientifically accurate.

*Most theropods. The large, t-rex like theropods at best could have had fur/quill-like proto "feathers". Those feathers we see on parrot-rex and his friend is still a no no.

I waited a long time for the day we get discussions about accuracy of feathers displayed in prehistoric reptiles. <3
Has anyone talked about the weird name of the second set? Why would the plane have rivals.
Was the decision at HQ really between "Rivals of Ixalan" and "Conquest of Power?" er....

Conquest still has negative connotations, particularly in south America, as the populace there have started to realize just how much of their history was obliterated by the conquistadors.

Rivals of Ixalan in the sense that there are rivals on Ixalan competing with one another not in the sense of planes that rival Ixalan.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Really I think Star of extinction is not going to kill them all off in this.
Besides almost positive more dinosaurs are going to be printed in rivals of ixalan.
Agreed. It's not story spotlight, so it's probably just a flavorful top-down design for an iconic dinosaur trope. Plus ruining one of the most iconic and popular aspects of the plane - before the block is over, no less - would not make much sense at all.

that and since jace is there (assuming the rest of the gatwatch as well) they are the protagonists they not going to perish.

It would also be ridiculously annoying. That would be what feels like the latest in a billion times of WOTC essentially destroying a beloved/interesting plane. Mirrodin, Zendikar, Innistrad, Amonkhet.
It's time to stop.
No more multiversal threats. No more doomsdays. Let's just have some fun and explore.
