If we get slivers in the next few blocks I would literally ***** my pants in joy.
They would have to be exactly the same Sliver lineage that both looks old school and affects all Slivers in play, if they are if they're coming back in Dominaria, then I'll join in with you welcoming them back!
Pretty sure they've confirmed they'll never do "all sliver" effects again (particularly because that wasn't strictly a trait of slivers, but of all tribal effects at the time, which has since been changed across the board). That said, I would love to see some new slivers with "slivers you and your teammate(s) control."

Pretty much.
Peoples primary problem with the "neo-slivers" was not that they only affected your slivers however, it was that they didn't look like slivers at all. The only one of the "neo-slivers" that actually looked anything like a sliver was the new legend, and I am pretty sure it's art was changed at the last possible moment due to the massive backlash that WotC received due to the are of the "neo-slivers".
It was roughly the equivalent of showing a person a picture of a horse and telling them it was a penguin.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
I wonder if we'll see Sliver Hive reprinted? Slivers are bound to appear as a small WUBRG subtheme; my guess is a common in each color plus an artifact, ten gold uncommons (or might they be hybrid?), maybe a cycle of rares, and a WUBRG mythic rare legend, for a grand total of 21/269 cards. Some of those Slivers could be reprints from C14 and C15 but with more traditional art, like Manaweft Sliver and Sentinel Sliver. Sliver Hivelord could be the WUBRG reprint, though I could also see a new version of Sliver Legion. They might reprint Hivestone to help the Sliver theme gel with other creatures in the set.

I think that one is already covered by Ixalan. Slivers might be cool after Ixalan if the tribal support adds something that interacts with all tribal decks like LOR did with changeling.

it'll be some great nostalgia for those of us that have been playing for ages and it'l give new players a chance to experience the world where most of the early sets happened
If they are ging to reprint a mechanic or two, these should be classics. I want Flashback, Morph and Threshold.
I agree with the sentiment,
but we've had all of those mechanics (and/or some variant thereof) in fairly recent history.
I'd like to go back a little further, at least to Time Spiral,
and get stuff like Buyback, Domain, and the Urza block "free" spells.
As for the Wastes thing:
it certainly would have been appropriate during Time Spiral,
but we don't know what state Dominaria will be in for this return.
IIRC, the post-apocalyptic vibe of TS was one of the many parts of it players disliked,
so that may be toned down (or retconned entriely) for Dominaria.
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
Melek, Izzet Paragon
Oona, Queen of the Fae
Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
Rhys the Redeemed
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord
Sen Triplets
The Mimeoplasm WUBRGSliver OverlordGRBUW WUBRGSliver Hivelord(Superfriends)GRBUW
IIRC, the post-apocalyptic vibe of TS was one of the many parts of it players disliked,

Dominaria wasrecovering when last we left it. No retcons are required.
I could see Flashback returning in Dominaria. Morph had a really weird flavor to it last time, so if it does return it's going to be with a new flavor that doesn't involve spider-pods. Kicker is probably the mechanic to bring back, having gotten its start in the most climactic of Weatherlight blocks, Invasion. I expect two major Kicker themes: +1/+1 counters and off-color abilities. However, Kicker and Flashback may not appear together, or Kicker will be regulated mostly to creatures.
There's also the potential for new mechanics; what if Dominara's mechanics are instead like combinations of past mechanics, such as Stormkicker? Though chances are Replicate would take that role.

Threshold will likely never happen again. It's too easy to fulfill to be able to balance well. Delirium fills this mechanic archetype way better.
Considering this is our first time back to Dominaria in 11 years, Flashback feels like it would be super on-flavor (if a bit meta in doing so).
Morph I could do without. Not against it returning, but it's not a mechanic I like enough that I feel it really needs to appear again just because we're returning to a plane it was once used on.

This. And considering we know The Mending took place about 60 years before the events of Kaladesh[1], Dominaria is almost certainly starting to flourish again. It will, however, likely still have visible scars of the many (countless, repeated, overwhelming in numbers) near-apocalyptic events the plane has suffered.
That said, it's also the Nexus of the Multiverse -- assuming this hasn't since changed or been retconned internally -- which means it's essentially a focal point for mana in the Multiverse. This would probably explain how the plane has survived so many turbulent world-ending events, and would also provide explanation for any accelerated return to (relative) normalcy we might see on the plane come April.
I have a feeling the Dominaria will have a strong, old-school Magic tribal component with elves, merfolk, goblins, etc. The upcoming Duel Deck seems like the perfect tease.

I agree, plus Kicker hasn't been seen for a long time considering it's among Magic's most popular non-evergreen mechanics. It also would be the third time it appears in close proximity to cycling (with a 1 set or block interval, excluding Time Spiral).
Eh. I came in during Scars block and, even having read some of the older stories, I can't say I'm quite as hype as some other people here. Still, I'm willing to see if Wizards can pull off something to give me, a player with no prior investment in the plane, something to latch onto. As is, I'll probably have had by fill after one set, so I'm not asking for a two-set pseudo-block sight unseen.
Dominaria is such a large plane, that they could basically just create a new continent and base the block on that (like Otaria) or an entirely different period in time. However, if Dominaria is to be linked to the current story, it could either be Ajani looking for more planeswalker allies to battle Nicol Bolas, Liliana planeswalking there for some reason (she is Dominarian), or Nicol Bolas going to Urborg to do some Nicol-Bolas-y thing.
I hope for some nostalagia factor and maybe cards that are amazing but not as broken as with the Urza's block. Too many lands are allied lands and they haven't even reprinted some enemy-colored lands (Ixalan reprints allied checklands, which have been reprinted numerous times but not enemy checklands which haven't been reprinted and need more copies). So hopefully we can get enemy tango lands being as the Zendikar return block rotates with Ixalan. Or enemy bicycle lands since cycling was a thing in Urza's block. Just give us more enemy dual lands already!
I'm also one desiring slivers. They're basically the best tribe to build around since each creature is basically a lord. You can never have enough slivers! What would truly be amazing to me is if Nicol Bolas reanimates the Titan planeswalkers that died during the Phyrexian Invasion. Or if we get planeswalker cards of them in the next core set as the monocolored planeswalkers of the set. That way we could get cards for them. We already got Teferi and Freyalise in Commander 2014, but maybe we could get the other ones. I, for one (and many others) am sick of the Gatewatch. They're literally the only planeswalkers really given any limelight and the new ones made simply feel like an afterthought. I'm glad Vraska is going to be a part of Ixalan because she was pretty much the afterthought of the Ravnica return block (like Ral was). But getting Commadore Guff, Lord Windgrace, and Tevesh Szat on cardboard would be a great tie to nostalgia. It would also justify the philosophy of the core sets putting cards that normally wouldn't fit in a block.

Tevesh Szat is not going to happen, ever. There is nothing left of him to bring back (and he didn't die on Dominaria anyway), his spark and soul was used to power a Power Stone Bomb after he had murdered Daria, and it was in turn used on Phyrexia. Urza was then called out by Taysir for knowing that Tevesh Szat would betray them and let the demon planeswalker murder Daria, which in turn lead to Urza casually murdering Taysir.
Urza was just as big of a villain as the Phyrexians in Invasion block, and I am very glad that they made sure that there was no way to bring him back (his mind, body, and soul were obliterated when the legacy weapon fired, together with that of Gerrard and Yawgmoth. None of them will return, ever).

Yeah, I'm familiar with the lore. Which is why I was disappointed that only Teferi and Freyalise got cards in Commander 2014. Those cards don't have to fit in with the current setting, just like planeswalker Teferi and Freyalise, who died after setting off the bombs in Apocalypse. But if in a core set we could get Commadore Guff, Tevesh Szat, Lord Windgrace, etc. as each of their monocolor, that would be spectacular.

The only way we're getting any of them is the same way we got Freyalise; posthumously, in a supplemental set. And even then, they won't bother with the less popular or well-known ones. (There's a reason why we got Freyalise first.) Daria and Kristina aren't happening, and Bo Levar, Commodore Guff, and even Taysir I'd say are longshots.

That's funny, because Taysir is the only one of them I could see returning in a standard legal set. He still has four lives to go, and has canonically come back once before. When Urza killed him, he didn't use him to power a Powerstone bomb, so he could *technically* return. Although I do admit it would be a longshot.

Core sets were said to explore backstories of characters outside of the current story-arc (paraphrasing). I'm not certain flashbacks were explicitly mentioned, but we might get them in the same vein as we did with Magic Origins. If flashbacks are possible, then canonically dead characters are possible (though I don't see any of the possible current viewpoint characters having crossed paths with any of the most requested oldwalkers not having appeared in cardform yet, so I don't expect them - unless *far* down the line - in core sets; yet supplemental products see increasingly likely to touch upon oldwalkers again - I'm calling it even: The next time we get a return to a Commander-product centered on color combinations again that we have had before we get planeswalker commanders in those combinations (unless possibly if we get them earlier)).
I expect to see Karn appear, perhaps he'll even befriend Ajani and join the Gatewatch. In so doing, Karn would serve as a link between old Magic and new Magic.
It's unfortunate that the link between Karn and Ajani is currently in the Theran underworld. In my mind Elspeth has a stake in fighting Phyrexians as overcoming her past. As such I'm expecting Ajani's quest to reclaim her to come before the return of the Phyrexians.
Either way there have been hints that the Bolas arc is not going to be dropped after Amonkhet - I expect an interlude on Ixalan followed by Bolas trying to reclaim a position of power on Dominaria with his new army. I imagine some kind of MacGuffin explanation why the Big Bad wants to invade the nexus of the multiverse is easily made up.

Presumably Bolas has plans to use the Eternals to invade Dominaria, but why was Tezzeret bothering with the Planar Bridge when Bolas should just be able to summon the Eternals to Dominaria? On the other hand, if Tezzeret still seeks to use the New Phyrexians, a new portal would be key to their invasion plans, and chances are Saheeli knew that.

Just because Bolas has an army of eternals now doesn't necessarily mean he can summon them wherever and whenever he wants. The planar bridge might have been his plan for quick and easy deployment.

Unless I'm missing something, it's not within a Planeswalker's ability to bring a non-Planeswalker across the Blind Eternities without some form of technological assistance (even pre-Mending a portal or ship outfitted for the task was required). Even if it theoretically was, I think planeswalking an entire army is still well outside the scope of Bolas' abilities, as powerful as he may be.

I think that one is already covered by Ixalan. Slivers might be cool after Ixalan if the tribal support adds something that interacts with all tribal decks like LOR did with changeling.

There's also the potential for new mechanics; what if Dominara's mechanics are instead like combinations of past mechanics, such as Stormkicker? Though chances are Replicate would take that role.
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

I agree, plus Kicker hasn't been seen for a long time considering it's among Magic's most popular non-evergreen mechanics. It also would be the third time it appears in close proximity to cycling (with a 1 set or block interval, excluding Time Spiral).

Taysir is too broken to get a card, unfortunately. Unless we ever revisit Rabiah in a previous time and get a Taysir of each color in supplemental sets.

That's funny, because Taysir is the only one of them I could see returning in a standard legal set. He still has four lives to go, and has canonically come back once before. When Urza killed him, he didn't use him to power a Powerstone bomb, so he could *technically* return. Although I do admit it would be a longshot.

PFFFHAHAHAHAHA GOOD JOKE
