About damn time. I started back during the Odyssey block and I miss Dominaria a whole lot. With it not having any crazy theme like Egyption or Greek/Roman mythology we can see what a world is like without needing any theme for once in a long time.
I look forward to seeing what has transpired since the Mending happened.
Please WotC, do not screw this up. I've been buying less and less and less Magic as time has gone on, since just about everything post-New Phyrexia has been so dull and bland. Time Spiral was top-tier MTG. I'd love to see a rebuilding of Dominaria after the events of Time Spiral. Maybe some residual temporal shenanigans, but a set with some hopefulness during a struggle.
Finally. I have been waiting for one last Dominaria trip so that I can satisfactorily ride off into my own MtG sunset. Please, send me off with a BANG WotC.
I'm glad for you that you can now almost assuredly satisfactorily walk away now. I'm almost there myself, just need to assemble some casual decks before I can kinda do the same.
Give me a Serra Planeswalker and a redone Baronn Sengir and I'll be over the moon.
While we're revisiting Homelands, I'll take Daughter of Daughter of Autumn!
Serra could show up, being a planeswalker, if there are time shenanigans. But she's super dead.
The Baron and the Willow aren't from Dominaria.
Huh. I just thought all the early sets were Dominaria...
Nah, Arabian Nights, Homelands, all of Tempest, roughly half of Urza block, and two thirds of Masques block all took place on other planes. (specifically, in order: Rabiah, Ulgrotha, Rath, Phyrexia, Serra's Realm, Rath, Mercadia, and Rath again). A handful of cards in Legends also referred to other planes such as "the Abyss", "Arboria", and "Segovia" among others, but the "meat" of the set took place on Dominaria.
I hope this information was of use to you.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Was Urza's Saga set on Dominaria? My favorite card is Tragic Poet, wanted to know what plane she's from?
Some action on Dominaria, some on Serra's Realm. The clothing and surroundings on the art make it seem like Tragic Poet is from the Realm.
Makes sense. Especially the enchantment interaction. Man I hope Serra's Realm is still around. I heard it was used up but could have returned. Especially Tamiyo reference.

Bad news on that front. Again, though, time shenanigans. And nothing's off the table for supplemental sets.

Urza collapsed it in Urza's Destiny to fill a powerstone with energy. To be fair to him, the plane was collapsing on its own, and he evacuated everyone he could, despite Radiant's best efforts. He settled them in Benalia.

What will post-Mending Dominaria look like? It got pretty apocalyptic there in Time Spiral. Hopefully things have calmed down and we can get back to the classic feel of the world.
I am assuming Phyrexians and anything to do with the Time Spiral-era will not be the villains. That leaves the Slivers as the obvious go to enemy for the set.
The question is - what really defines Dominaria? We'll see a bunch of recognizable place names, but from a game mechanic perspective, what can they do to make this feel like old-school Dominaria and not a NWO layer laid on top of familiar names?
There is nothing that mechanically defines Dominaria (except over-the-top mana, maybe). It's all about classic, RPG-style fantasy. That's what people loved so much about pre-Eldrazi Zendikar.
MaRo is saying that they finally figured out how to return to Dominaria... what shenanigan is he talking about? Is Bolas responsible?
That's been my prediction for the past year or so. Whatever Bolas is doing on Amonkhet, it's to somehow power a Planar Gate strong enough to re-access his home plane, where he presumably has something he needs/wants to regain pre-Sundering pre-Mending power levels.
It would be nice to see a set that isnt as mechanically driven as most sets these days. Most of any give set is just the same base cards with whatever the keyword mechanics of the set are. I just want to see a bunch of flavorful and interesting cards that dont require a keyword to make work.
I am beyond hyped. Missed this the first time around (joined just after Innistrad), but have read up on the lore and find it fascinating. Perfect nostalgia trip for 25th anniversary. Garfield being on design is exciting and will hopefully prevent a midrange slogfest.

I think Dominaria will be a top-down set full of flavor because Garfield helped design it. Keep in mind that Garfield helped with original Innisrtad as well and we all know how people feel about original Innistrad.

.
Yeah, over the past few years I've been looking for a way out of purchasing new cards. I look at the tens of thousands of cards I own, the dozens of cards I've never got around to building decks around, and just think "Why do I keep adding to a collection that already has an arbitrarily large deck building possibilities? I'll never get to build and play with all the decks I have had ideas for over the years as it is." I'll still play kitchen table magic, but money spent will approach 0 post Dominaria for me. No more boxes, no more splitting cases with buddies, no more paying for drafts, no more supplemental products (which have been difficult to keep up with anyway). I do have a desire to keep up with Player's Guides in the fatpacks/bundles since I have one from every set since they came out, but that's it.
I reiterate, please, oh please Wizards, in the blessed name of Richard Garfield, please let this set approach expectations.
With the return of the grand creator to the design team my hopes for this are rather high. It's been a long time since I have purchased anything from new sets. One of the reasons I like Dominaria so much is that there isn't any weird themes or shenanigans, it's classic magic at it's finest.

Looking forward to it! I hope there'll be full art lands, it doesn't even have to look fancy. Just tell me that a particular tree, mountain or field is from Dominaria and my heart beats a little faster because I'm quite enamored of this particular world of Magic's.
Now we'll finally have definite proof as to when the freaking Mending happened. In Alara block they said it was a century ago, then in Scars block they backtracked and said its only been about a decade, but then the Amonkhet story doesn't make sense unless it was a century ago since Bolas couldn't have subjugated an entire plane and established an entire culture around himself in a mere decade because he was nothing more than a disembodied spirit trapped in the time rifts before he tricked Venser into freeing him.
Amonkhet could still make sense if it's something Nicol Bolas started meddling with a long long time ago in a plane far far away, before Tetsuo messed him up. That gives a couple centuries.

Actually it was said that the Mending has been about 60 years ago now and that Venser most likely survived using slow-time water or something similar. The whole thing with Tetsuo was nearly 2000 years ago by now, far to long for Amonkhets "three generations" since Bolas took control of that world.

Well, it wouldn't hurt, but it isn't really necessary for a revisit to Dominaria. That's the funny thing about a game about planeswalkers.
