There is something else I noticed. There are going to be 199 cards in HOU ! Previously announced was at 184 .Yay ^^ I wonder whats the 15 extra cards inclusion will be
Awful PW deck cards?
Anyway, re: Eternalize, I wonder if it's something like bringing it back from the yard (to the bf) each time you pay that cost, or perhaps even creating a copy every turn, if you've paid the cost once... hm.

I believe they are basic lands. The past few small sets reused the basic lands from the large set, but with the landscape changing due to the theme of HOU new basics were likely commissioned. So no, the set still only 184 cards, it just gained 15 lands

Hey!!! In the last picture of the original post there is a list of upcoming FNM cards. It has the August and September cards switched from what has been previously stated on WotC site! Has anyone heard anything about what's up with this?

They said themselves during the webpage announcement that there was a late scheduling switch. Fatal Push and Renegade Rallier have numbers 8 and 9, but are released in reversed order - Rallier in August and Push in September.
(Editor's Note: The collector numbers on the cards for August and September do not match the months due to a late scheduling swap. The months listed in this article are correct.)

To further elaborate on this: Chances are they did so to give players more shots at Fatal Push given that September is a 5-friday-month whereas August is not.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
I wonder how much thought they put into naming Ramunap Excavator. With a world-specific name like that (and an unusual creature type to boot), they can pretty much only reprint it in Return to Amonkhet and supplemental sets. Pity.
It is a little odd, you'd think they would just go out of their way to use the whole "Magus of the <thing>" as that can fit in most, if not all, places. I don't think being called a magus would be too out of place on this world.
I´m a big fan of punisher cards and Afflict seems to be nice.
Do you guys think it will be better than the Tribute mechanic because it sadly turned out very boring and people would always choose the non-threatning choice. With Afflict, at least on Wildfire Eternal, it seems like both choices are harsh compared to Oracle of Bones for instance
I'm betting eternalize is: cost, exile this card from your graveyard: search your library for a copy of this card and put it on the battlefield.

Evil is boring. The universe is friendly. Life is on your side. Joy is your birthright. Cynicism is idiotic. Fear is a bad habit. Despair is lazy. In fact, all of creation wants you to succeed. Act as if the universe is a prodigious miracle created for your amusement and illumination. Assume that secret helpers are working behind the scenes to assist you in turning into the gorgeous masterpiece you were born to be. . . Life always gives you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.

Well they just announced 2 days ago that they are bringing back core sets. So this probably isn't an issue anymore which is nice. Also Masters sets and commander offerings are other avenues as well. So It probably won't be an issue.
Wildfire Eternal looks like it could be really good in some sort of RUG or Grixis midrange strategy. Casting free instants/sorceries is powerful regardless of the cards cost. I REALLY hope they push the afflict mechanic on red cards; it would make a red aggressive strategy a legit deck.
Crucible Magus....I like it. I wonder if people will try to play it in Modern and try to brew a land denial strategy, or if it just slides in to Abzan/COCO decks as a 1-of sideboard card.
Abrade is the card we needed in Amonkhet..but glad its printed. It if went to the player it would almost certainly replace a burn card in Modern.
Eternalise has to be something like Embalm, but it also has to follow "modern design sensibilities". One of those is to avoid repetitive game play, which Embalm already skirts awfully close to, so I think any kind of infinite (or even three time) recursion is out.
I think a powered-up Embalm is more likely. Getting a +1/+1 counter is probably out as A) they don't want to mix counters and B) that would be too close to poorly received Megamorph. I suspect indestructible is too good to be on than many creatures, though it does match the flavor of "Eternalize" and is less OP in a -1/-1 counter set.
What if instead a counter, the token it creates just has +1/+1 to its base P/T? That solves the mixed counter issue, is doable as they're printing token cards anyway, and gives the promo cat splash value (a 2/2 double strike is so much better than 1/1). The downside is that doesn't seem very "eternal", but perhaps that's the best creative could find?.
Funny how much more receptive people are to the punisher mechanic of Wildfire Eternal compared to that of Oracle of Bones. Not saying that Wildfire Eternal isn't better, but the reactions are way more positive than would be expected for a punisher mechanic.
Those are all creature version of some of the best cards and those are like $200+ and these magus's average to the $1 range
The one and only magus on par with the real version price is magus of the moon
This is Basicly magus of the crucible so it's immensely safe bet this one will be on par pricing with the others, plus this is going to be on a heavy and I mean heavy print run since it's not mythic.
As a matter of fact harsh mentor is potentially the final broken 2 CMC creature of the cycle (the red one) and that's only $2
Alright, I have to stop you right there. The reason why some of those cards are so expensive is because they are on the Reserved List and because they were only printed in incredibly small numbers by today's standards.
In addition, with creatures suffering from summoning sickness, they can't use abilities that require tapping until the next turn, making them inherently worse than other permanents that can activate those abilities immediately.
True, creatures are easier to remove than artifacts, enchantments, and lands, but that isn't enough to justify a massive price difference between the two. In fact, giving an old enchantment legs makes it a lot better sometimes (see Eidolon vs. Pyrostatic Pillar).
The reason this card won't reach really high prices is not because of a lack of demand. It's because Wizards prints the sh** out of sets nowadays, and there will be a billion and a half copies of Crucible Magus floating around. It will be an auto-include in a ton of different green EDH decks. There may also be some Standard decks that run this along with one or more of the ton of strategies available that put lands in graveyards.
Yea that's a much better explanation why the magus cycle is not to hard to gather
The moon magus probably just has smaller print run and is in the same boat as damnation.
Yes, though a big part is that Magus of the Moon's only disadvantage relative to Blood Moon is being easier to remove because it is a creature. Other than Magus of the Moat (and I doubt Moat would see much play if printed today), the others have various other disadvantages:
I'm betting eternalize is: cost, exile this card from your graveyard: search your library for a copy of this card and put it on the battlefield.
Better be instant speed.
If that's what it is, it's not going to be at instant speed. Current design philosophy shies away from hard to notice onboard tricks, like instant blockers from the graveyard. From hand is fine, because that's a hidden zone, but from the graveyard makes a really negative play experience for the person who walks into something they "should" have been aware of, 12 cards deep in your graveyard.
Now that I know what Eternalize does, that cat looks like a pretty groovy 4/4 doublestriker for 5. Still, as far as metagame goes, vanilla
(EDIT: As in, based on another spoiler thread, Eternalize is basically Embalm, except that the zombie is black and is a default 4/4; unless the reminder text screws up somewhere, that is)

Almost all the player will call it that way anyway in the cycle of Magus cards.
Just a unnecessary inconvenience that i will for sure write in the next survey they make.

Bloodlust Inciter or Olivia, Mobilized for War to give it haste on turn 4.
Maybe Key to the City or Pathmaker Initiate to make it unblockable.
As for the payoff, I think Nissa's Renewal is good because it allows us to hardcast the rest of the high CMC cards we're going to add such as Part the Waterveil, Providence, and Deploy the Gatewatch with the new Bolas and Sorin, Grim Nemesis, which also plays into the high CMC theme.
Ever After might also work if we're discarding to Key to the City and Olivia, Mobilized for War.

There's a reason they gave that 1/1 doublestrike. I'd be shocked if eternalize does nothing to p/t.
Selling some cards I don't want.
Generally less than tcg mid.

wait, you mean you got to collect another batch of non-zombie cards, and their tokens?? ... .....
