Bolas seems good, but not great, from first impression. The question is, will people really want to find him with a marvel over an ulamog though? I'd rather have the indestructible 10/10 that eats two lands on turn 4. If nothing else he's loads of fun in edh, which is a huge plus for me.
Samut... well, it's yet another rg walker, who would've thought?! Just keep em coming wotc, it's not like color-balance should be a thing to strive for. That aside and depending on the creatures she can work with, she might be worth it, double strike with lifelink or trample is not something to be underestimated. Her minus though, I really don't know, it looks awfully underwhelming. At the very least I think she might make the cut as the generic good, gruul-walker for my cube. And pardon me if this might be a stupid question, but... samut is female, right? I'm usually very fond of Aleksi's art, but this piece as well as her creature-art are so heavily focused on presenting a strong, independent, badass character that I really can't tell.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Maybe now we can get a counterspell with the same effect as that wrath?
If Kefnet was going to get one, I'd think that it have more to do with card drawing. Something like a 1UU "Draw four cards. Your lands don't untap during your next untap phase."
That would be better than Meditate and Meditate is on the reserved list. I don't think, they would do that.
They print cards better than those on the reserved list all of the time. Most of the reserved list is complete garbage by today's standards.
They print better cards, just not STRICTLY better. That would be fine. Mox that makes two mana would not (aside from being stupidly busted)

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
The next time WotC decides to do one of their Designer Searches, one of the things they should ask of applicants is to design a RG walker that doesn't cost four and will excite the player base. Obviously there's nobody currently working within that company that is capable of completing that task.
This made me lol so hard.
-We have a hole in the new set.
-Gruul 4-mana walker?
-You know it
I also think Bolas' -4 means you'll never really need to use his ultimate.
I'm thinking there will be a cycle of Last Reckoning cards. Remember that Bolas removes the Hekma from the city, probably resulting in a lot of un-honorable deaths. I'm also assuming these all will help to turn their respective God online to attack.

They absolutely do print strictly better cards than ones on the reserved list. Again, most of the reserved list is complete trash by today's standards. The only restriction is to printing functionally identical cards.
Very interesting cards. Also thanks wizards for self-leaking. Also weird. Here I thought it was going to be Dhjeru that gets a planeswalker card.
I'm going to guess their is a cycle that activates each egyptian god's condition while also locking up your mana for the next turn. Oketra's floods the board with tokens, Tefnet's draws/bounces cards, Rhonas's might be an undercosted Overrun, Hazoret's is a wheel spell but each player only draws 1 card.
I'm honestly more curious now of what new legendarys there are.
You'd almost certainly need green for Attune at the very least (if not Rogue Refiner also). Besides, you'd likely be able to hardcast Bolas in the existing Temur builds with the Servants and Aether Hubs.
Bolas seems really strong if you can land him on an empty board. Once you strip your opponent's hand the +2/-4 will either drown them in card advantage or burn them outright. The issue is he's terrible at stabilizing, which was a big reason for why Ugin was so good. Playing him against a zombies/mardu opponent, shooting a creature, then having him die the next turn is terrible. So basically we appear to have a very strong wincon for a specific kind of deck, much like Kefnet.
So does this make Dark Intimations good now? I could see a grixis control deck that is based around Nicol Bolas, Dark Intimations, and Pull From Tomorrow. You Pull From Tomorrow for whatever number to try and find Nicol Bolas, then discard Dark Intimations so that when you cast him you get the extra loyalty.
We riot when there is no Sphinx planeswalker, right?
Change that to “Sphinx commander“ and I'll go prepare the pitchforks

It always a good thing to seek to unnerstand your enemy. You gotta walk a mile in his shoes to unnerstand him, right? Dat way, if he still your enemy, you a mile away and you got his shoes.

I like the two planeswalkers. A shame Samut isn't our first Naya walker but i'm okay with that.
The wrath is confusing. Are unconditional wraths now a black thing? I thought Damnation was an unique effect for black, a colorshifted Wrath of god and on a CMC of 3 with downside? The last wrath effect I saw in standard was for 5 CM. A big let down for white mages.
Unconditional Wraths in standard are supposed to be 5 CMC with an upside now according to wizards new design philosophy. 3 CMC with a downside is certainly odd, but not outside of blacks color pie. Crux of Fate wasn't too long ago.
kinda cool that the black wrath combos very well with bontu itself. Wrath - doesn't kill Bontu - if it kills one of your creatures bontu is activated. I wonder if the other last stands will also activate...
White - gives you three creatures
Green - Overrun effect
Red - Something where you get effect for discarding cards
Blue - Discard draw seven

That'd be pretty dope. But we already have Memory...
I wish they'd done something more unique with Samut. Her thing is being super duper fast, right? Maybe give her the static ability "You may activate a loyalty ability of Samut an additional time during each of your turns.". Also I'm disappointed in the lack of Naya color identity. It'd be especially cute if once again her white only came from her text box.

I play Standard, EDH, and a very tiny bit of Modern.

I wonder if they play tested her too much, see appears so underpowered. They may have needed to test her more.

I can't wait for that second Nicol Bolas for my Grixis superfriends deck. Looks so awesome.

Samut's might actually be better.

Naturally, you need to cascade into Yahenni's Expertise with Bituminous Blast.
