Lots of Fling in this set. Seems like a reasonable card; the Embalm helps it a lot. Would likely have been limited-warping if it could sacrifice itself, but not sure it's too great outside of Commander and Casual when it has to sac something else.
For anyone running Yasova Dragonclaw EDH this seems pretty good though.

I would be surprised if RDW didn't see a resurgence from the red cards in this set. You can cast this post-combat main phase to do quite a bit of damage to the opponent's dome.
Too bad it´s "Another Creature" would be so much fun to kill it, embalm it and do it all over again
2RR for a sorcery that has been an instant at R but with flashback 5R...really indicates how powerful Galvanic Blast is, now that I think about it. Since I really would play that.
This is awesome too, though. Just more of a "Big Gruul" type thing.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. I can't wait till I can play my bicycle land out, thus making me heckbent, while I have Nessie on the field. You know, so I can attack with my Pervert.
this card actually works great in multiples. fling the first one with the second one, then embalm and fling the second with the first, then embalm and fling the first with the second again. silly, but fun

G-Blast gets away with it by being very conditional. While it's not a big deal in some decks, needing a deck warped around it is a drawback.[m]2rr[/m] and flashback [m]5r[/m] for a sorcery that says "~ deals 4 damage to target creature or player." Seems quite solid, so I get why they didn't want that as the baseline mode for an already quite efficient card.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
This is very good. Not modern playable, but at least fnm worth. It does direct damage in red, while also being a source of card advantage. 4 mana is a little high for a rdw card and 6 mana is definitly too high, but if their is a big red deck I can't imagine this not slotting into it. The one thing I see holding it back is the red god. If the red god hits the sweet spot where it is the top of your curve and thus always turned on then I suppose a 4/3 that require another creature to be good won't make the cut. Time will tell if it finds it's spot in the meta. Might even prove useful along side exert creatures as a way to squeeze a little extra value out.
Very playable creature. Wizards is really pushing red deck wins this upcoming format. I'll be surprised if no one plays aggro that doesn't make top 8.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I'm getting this mental image of Gideon +1ing and charging at the opponent for 5, after which this manticore just picks him up from behind and tosses him screaming into the opponent for another 5...not a bad finish, eh?
If you embalm this with Anointed Procession out, you get two of these which can each sacrifice the other, dealing 8 damage. Apparently the two of them grab onto each other, curl into a ball, and just hurl themselves at the enemy...

...I think he's grrrrrrrreat!
There are a lot of sweet gruul beats this set, will be awesome in limited for sure! Maybe standard too.

I really want to throw some Lupine Prototypes at peoples faces. Or just combo with Hazoret's Favor
Edit: In retrospect it also dies to slagstorm 3.0 . That could be a problem for any deck that would want to run this.
