I am dreaming up all kinds of jank. aside from the obvious Oath of Nissa stuff in Tron, this allows Door to NothingnessProgenitus Composite Golem shenanigans, Godsire in elfball decks, qll kinds of fun stuff! I'm not sure if anything will come of it, but if it opens at a low enough price i'll pick up an EDH playset

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
As a strictly better Crystal Quarry this seems like a windmill slam card in almost every 3+ color Commander deck. Enters untapped, survives mass LD, can't be Ghost Quartered or Slimed.
In standard, I sort of wonder if some sort of heavy control deck with Awaken cards could make good use of this? Maybe Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper can make a comeback? Seems fun in casual at least.

As an EDH player this cards doesn't seem very good in 4 to 5 colored decks. By the time you can generate 5 mana, you shouldn't be having problems making your colors. I will not put this in my Atraxa list. Maybe Breya lists will want it because they don't have green and they could be running Thran Dynamo and friends but I'm even skeptical about Breya really wanting it.
I understand it's rare because it's indestructible and it seems good for Modern Tron.
Its not legendary, so you could run 8x indestructible lands with Darksteel Citadel.
You can make something like Armageddon kinda one-sided if your lands cannot be destroyed.
Probably something to work with.
I would laugh really hard if Armageddon.dec became a thing in Legacy with this, Darksteel Citadel and Ravages of War. But too slow in my opinion, and also Ravages is just too expensive.

Ravages has a judge foil that's under $50. Not expensive for Legacy.
Armageddon.dec already had Darksteel Citadel and Flagstones of Trokair as lands that you didn't mind nuking or couldn't nuke. I don't think that this puts the deck over the edge.

Along with many mods, I've moved shop over to MTGNexus. Come check us out!
Well, for me personally at least, the mana-fixing part is just "ok" for my 5-Color Horde deck. I run Shimmering Grotto (mainly because I already own a foil) and it has been serving me well. I can see where this will fall short - the Grotto can fix mana for those 1-4 mana spells (especially early game), which tend to be ramp/mana fixing spells so by the time I'm done assembling to 5, Color isn't an issue.
On the other hand, this is indestructible and my deck as a "Awaken" theme, so it is definitely useful in that regard. I might find a slot for it eventually, but I'm in no hurry and I highly doubt Shimmering Grotto is leaving for this (oh, and I don't run Crystal Quarry, so it's not a straightforward swap mentally upon seeing the card).
This may be the final part of what makes tap out control blue white viable in standard. Planar Outburst and Roil Spout both give removal to the deck and late game make this a beater.
heh i keep thinking of cataracts in the eye when i read this
is the indestructible clause relevant in any format?
Idk about format relevant but it looks like there are the five gods or statues of them in the waterfalls, so maybe it's just tied to the gods and the indestructible is part of the flavor?
I just dont get the hype. I can see how amazing it can be in edh, but as a standard player I cant see myself playing it. I can tap 6 lands to add 5, i can't justify that. Maybe if there are 4 of same color costs somewhere that are good in the future, i dunno. Ill pass.

Two words: Land animation. With something like Nissa, Vital Force you can turn your land into a 5/5 with haste that also happened to be indestructible. Even something like a Consulate Dreadnought with Siege Modification can't knock it down.
Wonder if the Indestructible on it is for flavor or mechanical reasons. Maybe for eternal play so you don't worry about Ghost Quarter or Fulminator Mage.
You can also use Ghost Quarter targeting your own cataracts as ramp.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
If you really want to, you can use this to turn Ghost Quarter into a basic of your choice (although that seems kinda pointless when this thing filters so well).
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I play a five color Commander deck, and this land still isn't for me.
Cascading Cataracts is just a glorified Shimmering Grotto. It requires (effectively) six mana to activate but only spits out five. That sucks. Sure, the five mana is in any combination of colors I want, but by the time I have six mana, aren't I already through manafixing? Most five color decks shouldn't need this, let alone decks of four or fewer colors. As a budget option, it is quite nice though.
To make this card playable, I think all that would have been necessary is dropping the last's ability cost from 5, T to 4, T. That way, the Cataracts still generated mana when its last ability was used, making it sort of into a super filter land. Perhaps Wizard's development team already tested that though and found it to be too powerful.

As someone who loves having Sliver Overlord as a Commander, you are in no way guaranteed WUBRG by the time you have six lands. In fact you can get color screwed based on what you have drawn and fetched. Sure in magical Christmas land you always have WUBRG by that point.
EDIT: Also its an indestructible land by default. The only other land with indestructibility is Darksteel Citadel.
In Standard this summer, the card will read: Add five mana in any combination of colors to your mana pool. Play target Nicol Bolas Planeswalker spell (from Hour of Devastation). You win the game. Before that however, this card along with Spire of Industry may make 5C decks a thing. Don't quite know what deck wants it just yet, but it's definitely "brew-around" worthy.

This is basically my take on it. I have two 5-color decks, and thanks to fetchlands (both good and "bad"),
and I rarely get to the point of making five mana without being able to make all five colors.
The industructability may make up for that, though,
and if nothing else, it'll help with Legacy Weapon activations.

Nice design and the art is great, but this doesn't add extra mana, you're paying 6 to add 5. If it was 4 and tap to add 5 mana of any combination of colors, this would be an all star in any multi color edh deck. But as is, it's only slightly better than crystal quarry

That's not ramp, though? You're turning your Ghost Quarter into a basic, so you come out neutral.

It's not bad,
but I can't get away from how much more I would like it if it could convert X mana and not just 5.
I guess they'll eventually print that (but probably Legendary and without Indestructible).
