Okay, Dissenter's Deliverance makes more sense now (flavorwise). Along with the new story today, quite a nice development of the story. Looking forward to learning what the last Story Spotlight is. My money is on the art where Hazoret tries to "reward" Gideon is the last one.

In multicolor, or with Forks. In monored and if you're not playing forks, Spree has the advantages of "somewhat dodges counters" and "costs one mana less".
Not strictly better, but certainly better in multicolor.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I'd much rather have this and play this for 1R-3R then play Release the Gremlins for 2R-6R for basically the same thing. I know Gremlins gives you, well gremlins, but sometimes(and by some I mean most) I need to get rid of those artifacts now, not wait till turn 5 or 7 to get rid of them all, especially when they're bashing in for 4 in the air, 8 on the ground, or just setting up for a bigger plan like mana rocks and Aetherflux Reservoir
Ugin is going to get really bad once all the fatties are colourless. I sold all mine. Sell sell sell!
He's going to be absolutely rotten. Hangarback walker has already nerfed him quite significantly. I reckon he'll be $3 junk within 2 months of rotation
I haven't been following the story beyond the flavor text.
What I'm picking up on here is, roughly, that the Gatewatch, fresh from leading a successful rebellion against Bolas's agents on Kaladesh come looking for him and find another world clearly under his control. Initially it appears at least peaceful, but they discover the brutal trials and human sacrifice in honor of the local gods and of Nicol Bolas, who is worshiped here as the ruler of the gods. Finding some dissenters to the world order, they try to rile up another revolt against Bolas.
...and I'm going to say that they are the cause of the Hour of Devastation. They somehow break the Hekma and the horrors of the desert roll in. Their rebellion is forgotten and it becomes a fight to save the people from the monsters they let in, unsuccessfully. Nicol Bolas returns in the midst of this, saves the city and restores the Hekma. The people once again praise him, and now hate the Gatewatch, and have physical proof that the dissenters are wrong, that Bolas's way is right. The Gatewatch flees rather than confronting Bolas and his plane of loyal servants.
I also think that Bolas is the cause of the terrors of the Broken Lands, possibly having to do with the double-sun, but the people don't know that.

i believe you are mostly right. Bolas wont come to 'save the day' but comes and goes 'oh the party started without me?' and does whatever it is that he intends to do with the plane. the gatewatch tries to stop him and do so, and in the process they end up just creating a massive amount of Devastation, foiling bolas in some minor way.

Do, Medail? Bolas isn't a comic book villain. Do you seriously think he would show up and explain his masterstroke if the Gatewatch had even the slightest chance of affecting the outcome? He did it long before they got there--all they can do it witness its fruition.
I suspect that everyone who becomes Anointed and/or who passes the Trials becomes part of Bolas. His title of "God-Pharaoh" isn't merely to impress the locals, I think it is literal. He is Amonkhet...or at least soon will be, if that second sun will park itself between the horns. All the Gatewatch will be able to do is run.

You could phrase it that he will show up to stop the Gatewatch meddling in his personal things, but he will ultimately save the people from the devastation, just for his own benefit, not theirs.

where did i say he would explain any of it? i'm just saying that the gate watch are going to be the 'meddling kids' that screw something up for bolas.

I was being cute and trying to channel Watchmen. Your analogy might be more accurate--the Gatewatch as Mystery, Inc.

So the implication on these cards is that these "decorative" sarcophagi across Naktamun
actually contain pre-Bolas Amonketians that he didn't kill for some reason?

Great card but don't think it would replace vandalblast for modern decks that run it. By force costing 1R to kill a single artifact is a lot worse. Likewise against something like lantern control unless you have a lot of mana you're never going to get the same value as an overloaded vandalblast.
It's nice that you can take out 2 artifacts on turn 3 but at that point you might as well have ancient grudge which gives greater flexibility.
I suppose if you're not running green you may consider this.
Edit: Spellskite would be able to change the targets to itself right? So actually there's no way I'd run this over vandalblast

I believe Spellskite can only legally be targeted once by the spell, so if you want to make sure you blow up everything you need to, target Spellskite as one of the X artifacts.
Is it me or are we getting WAY more good commons in commons in this set?

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
Not quite up there with Shattering Spree or Vandalblast but it does have it's own advantages - no heavy red requirement like Spree and cheaper to destroy 2-3 artifacts with than Vandalblast (plus able to destroy your own artifacts which is occasionally useful).
Better at cheap mass artifact destruction than Release the Gremlins but unless super artifact heavy decks take off paying the extra mana for 2/2 tokens is probably a better deal (paying 2R or 4R to destroy 1-2 vehicles and get 1-2 2/2 gremlins seems better in most cases than paying 1R or 2R to do the same destruction without the gremlins).
"Think Vandalblast was impressive? Well get a load of THIS!"
To clarify, whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell with X in its mana cost while Mizzix is on the battlefield, you can always reduce the cost of X by the number of experience counters you have, meaning the spell always has a converted mana cost greater than the number of exp. counters you have and thus triggers Mizzix's first ability, earning you another exp. counter and letting you make your next X-cost spell bigger still.
That said, there has to be a lot of artifacts on the field to optimize By Force in a Mizzix deck. But as long as you can accumulate enough exp. counters, a Mizz deck can always nuke the opponent's field of artifacts for just one red mana.

Winged Shepherd's flavor text makes it pretty clear that Bolas himself tears down the Hekma during the Hour of Promise alluded to in Throne of the God-Pharaoh, which is most likely what leads to the Hour of Devastation.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
