I think it is deceptively strong thanks to embalm. The fact that the opponent has to deal with O-Ring on a stick twice is pretty good. Oh, and let's not forget Bruna, the Fading Light is still around.
Actually, this does fit for an angel. An archangel, to be exact. I've seen the light. In other news, this is the set's Archangel's Light. I see it as a possible budget blink effect, "budget" meaning "you have better options at lower rarities".

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Recurring O-Ring that beats down in the air? How awesome is this card?
But on this thread, everyone is complaining about rarity. And yet, if really pushed cards show up at Mythic, people complain about that, too.
Totally ridiculous.
Best I could say is maybe it's a quantity issue? Too much of either is bad. Personally I'd rather have the Mythics feel... well, Mythic. This Angel just doesn't feel all that exciting. Given there is a Common Angel though it could be worse I guess.
Just wish that Male Angels weren't evil. It's Bolas world so all of them probably are.

I don't know the text on the other angel makes it seem like bolas is going to kill them when he returns. So I'm not sure if they will be evil.

Hopefully not the same people!
I'd rather they stopped with the 'mythic' thing since that's a partial reason standard is crazy expensive. With the new cycle of ultra rare cards in boxes these days you'd think could scrap the mythic thing and help bring the cost of playing standard down.
If a card is going to be extra rare it should warrant it though, instead of being meh or just plain awful (as there are quite a few mythics in that pool).
This set feels very much like they over-valued certain mechanics. Angel of Invention was basically a crap mythic because despite having really good abilities, it just didn't have enough power to stay aloft as even really over-costed red removal could deal with it. This angel feels like they over-valued the embalm mechanic on it and didn't give it enough power and toughness. A 5 cmc angel should at least be a 4/4 in the air and given we are in a format with Grasp of Darkness probably needed at least one more point of toughness to be playable.
It's like all of white removal got shot in the foot thanks to over-valuing cycling and embalm. Cast Out is highly playable, but I still wouldn't use it over Stasis Snare as the previous one hits all the targets I'd be concerned with including gideon. Angel of Sanctions needs Panharmonicon to even look good in a format that has a 4/4 flying sphinx in blue for 4 cmc and Heart of Kiran at 2 cmc.
Now if Angel of Sanctions had flash... I don't think we'd be having this discussion.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

I can say, with 100% confidence that the black mythic curse, is significantly closer to being the Arch Light of the set.

True. Especially since Painful Quandary costs 2 less and is pretty similar.
As an aside, I want to see some female demons. I guess if male angels are malachim, female demons would be qlippot or lilim or what? (Okay, I'll admit, I know virtually nothing about Jewish demonology.)

You mean Planar Chaos. Note that the other angel is female.

Seems like it could be a strong utility card in Standard as well: deals with planeswalkers very very well.
