He's like a far-less combat savvy Aurelia but for only three mana. Yes please.
So if you flash in Restoration Angel at the end of the first combat and you have a way to grant Haste, you can get more combat? Or if you just have multiple copies of him? Hot dog.
So unless I'm mistaken, this is yet another infinite with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker? Given it references itself, you attack, exert it, untap your dudes, Kiki makes a copy of him, attack, exert the copy, untap your stuff...rinse and repeat.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
That's pretty good. I wonder how Combat Celebrant will get along with Lightning Runner? Also, based on those two cards I presume that "extra combat phase" effect is now automatically mythic.
We just got a mythic red creature that can create extra combat steps in the last set, but this one is much better.
Some people were expecting this art to be a planeswalker a little while ago, now that theory is disproven. But since neither Gideon nor Liliana are on pack art, is another booster pack's art a planeswalker, or are there no planeswalkers on the packs at all (something that almost never happens)?
Everything get "rekt" by removal. This is arguably the best "extra combat" card ever made, and in an RDW shell it's conceivable to combo out with him turn 4 for lethal
What happens when I exert a creature second time? My guess would be no change from the first time, but I am not sure...
If that creature is not named Combat Celebrant then yes; just like the first time. If that creature is named Combat Celebrant then it will depend on the REL of the event you're playing.
Oh hey, actually, another thing that works with Kiki-Jiki.
It's...slower, but it still works.
That's actually quite hilarious. Instead of attacking for 10 billion, you attack for 4 10 billion times.
Also worth noting that unlike other Kiki combos, this one gets through Gideon Jura's +2. Not that it matters hugely, the fact that it doesn't get through Blind Obedience effects (which Restoration Angel also fails to do) is probably a bigger problem, and the fact that it's mono-red is a much, much bigger advantage.
Against Blind Obedience u have to make the token before combat, and... done. The big insue is that unless u play kiki before hin and gives hin haste u become soo much vulnerable to removal that isn't fun.
Mini-Aurelia! Fun stuff, and hilarious with more than one on the board; I only wish R&D weren't so in love with this effect for red mythics. I like extra combat steps as much as the next person but I don't want to dilute the specialness.
Goes infinited with Mirror Mockery , that might be a real thing, as theres a bunch of cards that would work really well in blue/red aggro decks (say a Snapcaster, Clique and such).
You will exert the token and that will untap the guy to get in another attack , and you repeat that infinited times.
Yes this card seems to be fairly easy to break.
Works with Kiki Jiki aswell, but thats slower (but still in color).
Might be a thing for some mono red / blue red or jeskai colored decks, it hits like a truck or its just "infinited".

Does it? I believe at end of combat, the token is exiled. Then you begin the next combat phase - without a token.

It's a good thing they put in that "If it hasn't been exerted" clause because otherwise this would be completely broken.

So, RDW wins is in standard again. Just waiting on Lightning Bolt so that we can all ***** ourselves.
Excellent.
"Kiora is the Aquaman of planeswalkers."
"Useless and everyone pretends to like her?"
