Wait... does this mean their will be an actual token card for each creature with embalm? I mean with the exception of this cat none of them seem worth getting but what about when good embalm cards come out? That will be a freaking 8 card investment
I for one appreciate that the spoilers haven't been a flood of rares. I always want them to show us the commons and uncommons of the set during the spoiler rollout, not just in the big end dump.
I like it, I will pick it in limited, not super highly, but decently. The no-extra-cost re-use alone makes it solid in limited.
You still need to protect Sram but getting replacement cats and spare draws off of Sram pieces seems good enough to test at least. White Cartouche may warrant a spot too, extra body and Sram draw for W...
Though I don't disagree with you about the risk of folding to removal.
For limited, a lot will depend on whether tokens matter and/or undead matters. We have some signs of both but its too soon. Right now I'd call it a D+ which I'll sometimes play but not be happy about it, but it could go up to a C if there's enough synergy.
I seriously love non-Leonin cat's like this and Sanctuary Cat, way too cute

I presume that the process of embalming did something to its ears--they aren't the same size after embalming as they were in life. The tail being in a different position is understandable--it is still animated while embalmed and will continue to swish its tail.
Incidentally, how do embalmed creatures see? *shrug* I guess that is why they call it Magic.
In Limited, if I am playing white I will always be happy to cast Sacred Cat on turn 1 because it will likely trade with any incoming creature and it will give me access to a chump-blocker later in the game for only W.
The first halfway reasonably costed embalmer. Flavorful. Functional. Well done.
Now let's see the too-powerful rare and uncommon and the 5 more garage commons.
With an Embalm cost of W, the cat is SOOO much value. As in, almost on the level of Doomed Traveler value.
I know you say "almost," but that may be a wee bit hyperbolic. Flying on one side is better than lifelink on both I think. And obviously 0 mana is better than 1 mana.
But I mean, we'll see.
And Aristocrats decks in Modern and Commander can recur Doomed Traveler, since we're hitting all these things.
I still like this one, even if it's just a limited card. And you know that, like Sanctuary Cat and Black Cat, it will be an instant hit because cats on the internet.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Best. Rebuttal. Ever
Someone's going to try to jam this intonation Sram list w. Bonesaw and some other cheap equipment for the lolz. They might not be 100% wrong.

For Amonkhet, they're doing the opposite.
Gotcha.

hahaha come on guys this is too funny
i could see this working out in one of those drafts where you pick up every copy that passes your way and then buff like mad
conjecture, of course, but weirder things have happened in limited environments
