While nice to have some more fetchable duals for commander, I wonder if they are actually playable in other eternal formats.
Wouldn't they be a tad slow for modern since it is plagued by "win by turn 3-4" decks?
For all we know their land typing plays a very small role in the current standard, unless they reprint land-type-cycling cards.
Honestly, I think this is a reasonable guess. When MaRo's article (I think) was talking about putting land types on the Battle lands, it was explicitly stated that they did so because they were relevant and they wanted them to play with fetches. So, it seems to make sense that they added them because they are relevant in some way.
I am pretty sure we won't see Zendikar fetches due to previous issues, but that doesn't mean the land types will be irrelevant. My first thought was Three Visits or Farseek type cards (that is, cards that search for lands without requiring them to be basics). But, I think your thought makes more sense. Maybe we will see more Swampcycling or Plainscycling cards in this set.
I was expecting these, sorta. I was worried they would have them without the land types.
Hopefully this is a trend moving forward - more land types on rare dual cycles. Modern may as well enjoy more and more deck building possibilities, and there's very little reason to shy away from it in standard.
These are about on the power level of Scrylands. It's a shame those didn't have dual types themselves but you can bet it's because they didn't want them to be the strictly best option for a tapped eot fetch.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Reprinting Three Visits would be super sweet. I bet they won't, but they should.
They could easily functional reprint it, but not under the Three Visits name. Loyal Retainers got masterpieced because the flavor is generic - anybody can have slavishly loyal followers. Three Visits is based on an actual incident from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
These are really underwhelming. They are likely good in midrange, but aren't we getting a bit sick of how midrange Standard has been for a couple years?
There's no point in the game at which an aggro player would want to draw this. Early you don't want ETB tapped, late you'd rather draw gas you don't have to spend 2 mana on first. It doesn't solve the flooding problem at all, because the decks that don't want to flood don't want ETB tapped.
Control wants to hit their land drops and probably won't cycle these away too often, except in late game situations that aren't control mirrors.
It's midrange that benefits, where they're constantly drawing the wrong half of their deck, and where they can do cutesy synergies with these. It's probably good there isn't a G/B one yet.
If the decks they benefit are midrange and maybe Saheeli, then just... bleh.
They work with the show lands from Innistrad but only in a way that makes land sequencing awkward and bad.
This are EDH gold, nuff said. Everyone likes cramming their decks with fetch lands, grab these from your deck, thin things down, cycle when you don't need 'em. EDH will eat these up.
Amulet of Vigors price should skyrocket soon with these buy them now before you can't.
I thought that Amulet of Vigor would be reprinted with the Amonkhet set anyway?
I had a playset of foils in my cart that I almost picked up, but I then thought the same thing; Amulet of Vigor is a card they could be reprinting in the set so I will wait for the full spoiler to determine if I want to pick them up. Also, I am not sure how much these will see play with Amulet anyway. Unless they print it in Standard so Splendid Reclamation becomes better, there are lands in Modern (namely, the Ravnica Bounce lands) that work with Amulet better than these do.
These aren't even that good with Amulet of Vigor. You only break even with the first over a basic land, while the bouncelands already give you +1 mana on the turn.
The net mana gained from bouncelands scales a lot better than it would from these. Consider that people aren't already jamming Amulets and scrylands together.

Everyone does realize these have to be in your hand to cycle right?
I would rather have the horizon canopy cycle printed.
Right. The cards mentioned work with that. Cycle your lands, Loam them back, cycle again (using the first cycle to get Loam back) and repeat. Or, cycle all your lands and Splendid Reclamation to get a bunch of lands on the battlefield. Or, cycle them with Gitrog out and draw an extra card each time.
The cards mentioned work because they either give something more while cycling or they work well once the cards have been cycled.
I would have liked Horizon Canopy too, but these have some interesting (mostly janky) uses that seem fun.
But they'd better immediately finish this cycle in Hour of Devastation. I'm going to be rather salty if I have to wait until they eventually get around to revisiting cycling again to finally get a GB one of these.
Well that rules out the enemy fetches for the near future. After what happened in BFZ standard I'm pretty sure fetch-dual manabases will never be part of standard again.
Nature's Lore is pretty clever. Since the nonbasic Forests will usually be coming in tapped, you have to choose whether you want an untapped basic Forest or a tapped dual land. It would also put Nature's Lore into Modern, should that become relevant.
For modern this looks good, but unfortunately they really need slow enemy lands and fast allied right now. Enemy lands are way stronger in the current standard and even frontier right now.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Having land types kind of clashes with having cycling (good luck making both matter),
but these are still way better than the SoI and KLD duals for my purposes.

Because if that happens at long last a budget fetchable lands.
Woow! Beautiful artwork on these, especially Fetid Pools, and fantastic cards all around. Getting a set of these for Standard and then getting extras for my commander decks to replace Guildgates is going to be a nightmare!
Man the only downside is that if we dont get the enemy 5 in the next set then I doubt we will see them for a very long time. Outside of that these are sweet and playable in tons of formats.

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!
