No idea what the card does, but it looks like he's taking up the challenge
Which means he either wants to die, he just wants to deceive Bolas somehow or he isn't aware that the fifth trial will lead to his death...
I'm guessing all the Gatewatch knows about it, and he volunteered to do it because of the indestructibility thing.
That's why I'm not at all invested in him. Nothing will kill him since he is indestructable.
Ob Nixilis almost killed him, so it is not all that impossible. And his mind definitely isn't as indestructible as his body, so Bolas may have some nasty surprise for him...

I do not believe the gatewatch will know about it until after the trials have started. My guess is they will get in trouble somehow, one or more will be captured, and Gideon will agree to the trials in exchange for something, thinking the reward would be something other than death. (it would be absurd to think the reward for winning a trial is death, you wouldn't know what you are winning, but not that)

Are you one of those who thinks the supermillionaire apex "human" is more relatable than the farmer boy from Smallvile, Kansas?
Watch/read Luke Cage either way, there's a million ways to make an unkillable hero lose hard.
Soo... you like both of them? And Gideon has multiple weaknesses that get around his indestructibility, for example warping his mind, which Emrakul did to a certain extent and which Bolas is a master of. And I'm certain that the red god has the capability to use something like Burn from Within to kill the trial champions. No problem there.
I like how obvious it is the artist phoned in the legs because he knew they wouldn't be visible on the card. Either he's floating an inch off the ground or that perspective is wicked borked.

If it's for a planeswalker card, the bottom part of the art is opaque behind the text because of the transluscence of the text box.

Gideon learns to fly in this set, or maybe had the ability all along just never had a reason to use it? j/k
I might just be hypercritical and jaded because of gatewatch overload.
But man, gideon has some big ol hands. And it looks like he's seriously skipping leg day recently, they look a little scrawny.
Also as another user has said, this guy looks like gideon's relative not the walker himself.

How do we know the card name btw?
The Wizards marketing materials page labels it so (under "Large Posters").

Oh man do I agree. Remember when he was a grizzled, middle-aged white dude?
