You make a new ice-cream that taste like strawberry. You already have an ice-cream with this taste. People ask you why you made another one to which you answer "Ah but this strawberry is a bit more sugarish than the other one"
That was a silly example but this is how I feel Wizards are doing with creating yet another monocolor God cycle - Why make something you have already done that was already a success? People obvious wants something new
Because Monocolor Cycle of Anything is basically a staple for every single Magic set by the design of the game.
There's five colors, and each one needs equal support. That's why there's so many cycles. There will be more monocolored cycle of Gods in the future, for sure. Maybe as soon as the Aztec/Meso-American set.
Not sure I follow the religion quip unless it's meant to be either pro-Atheism or anti-fundamentalist. If the latter I agree, the former not so much.
Anti-religion in general.
Even with overwhelming evidence supporting the monocolored Gods AND no room for multicolored Gods plausible existence, people still grip tight to the idea that the Gods are exactly how they WANT them to be.
That's a good analogy with real life religions right there.
A little disappointing. I was kind of wishing for tri-colors. Still, this is basically confirmation.
The Gods of Amonkhet may have been confirmed as monocolored, but did MaRo mean the set of the whole block? Let's not forget that Tarkir started 3-color and becoming 2-color caused disappointment. They learned not to take colors away. That doesn't mean they can't add more.
Also, MaRo loves to play on expectations like that.
Doesn´t this kinda limit their own game because they have to do what sells best versus do something new and fresh like making the gods not be too similar to Theroes gods by making them tricolored?
Right, because color is the only way in which cards vary. There's no possible way to make a new cycle of cards different.[/sarcasm]

That's a terrible metaphor.
Flavor is one of only a handful of ways that ice cream varies. (And even then, your strawberry ice cream could have cookie bits or somesuch to change things up.) The primary difference between ice creams is the flavor.
Color, meanwhile is just one of a massive number of ways that Magic Cards can vary. That's why cycles exist in the first place. I mean, there's only 32 different color combinations that a card can be, including five color and zero colors. So if you're doing a five-card cycle, you only have six different options; monocolored, ally pairs, enemy pairs, shards, wedges, and four color. So you'd sure better find something else to differentiate cards by, because every color combination has been done already. Just as an example off the top of my head, look at how different the Titans are from the Souls.

I very strongly disagree, but what you're going to use as evidence versus what others will would differ.
And now that we actually have the Gods maybe this thread could just be a general talk about them. Though on the subject of Tricolor Gods Maro did say they could pop up in a supplemental set. When I think about the worlds they've done Gods in though I'm kind of at a loss as to where would be a good place to pull them from. Amonkhet and Theros don't seem like they'd have new Gods willy nilly, so unless we're looking at really old Gods for Theros (Amonkhet remains to be seen but likely not plausible) there isn't really any room for Tricolor. I suppose they could do Partners with the Gods, but that feels like cheating.
The best answer seems to be the Kami of Kamigawa. It's been a long time since we've been to Kamigawa, new Tricolor Gods seems totally plausible. Only thing would be calling them Gods instead of Spirits, but I think that would be fine really, Kami totally works fine for Gods as a Creature Type.

Well they could do past gods of Theros. Like the god of love could be GRW and maybe they had one all encompassing war god in RWB that was later split into the twins we have.

Finally we can put this to rest.
