Embalm is an activated ability, but (at the time you activate it) one of a creature card in your graveyard, not of a creature you control, so Training Grounds' discount doesn't apply.
Gotcha. I was wondering if "creature you control" only meant when it was on the battlefield or just a permanent that started in your library. So Heartstone would work to reduce the embalm casting cost because it doesn't specify "creature you control" just activated abilities of creatures cost 1 less.

This is unfortunately incorrect. 'Creature', by itself, always refers to a creature on the battlefield. Everywhere else it is 'creature card'. This also applies to other card types, as I recall.
Kinda funny how this time around so many of the accidentally leaked cards are common or uncommon, but they managed to keep a tight lid on mythics and most splashy rares. If there have to be inevitable mistakes and leaks every set, I imagine wizards is happy so far, other than that crazy split card ruining a surprise for Monday.
