Not sure it's a mistake with the same thing that happened earlier with the black common.

11:15, restate my assumptions: 1. Mathematics is the language of nature. 2. Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers. 3. If you graph these numbers, patterns emerge. Therefore: There are patterns everywhere in nature. - Maximillian Cohen.
This is the second card that they've accidently spoiled in two days. I'm not complaining, though. The more spoilers, the better.
Anyway, the card seems pretty good in limited. A 3/2 vigilance for 2W is definitely passable, and the mana sink option is just a bonus that makes it even better. If we have any sort of aura (or equipment) that gives the enchanted (or equipped) creature an exert effect, then this card will combo with it in limited. If we see, for example, a cycle of common auras that grant exert, then this might be one of the stronger commons in the set.

I imagine this is more evidence of how much Embalm will cost on average - about 2 mana more than the CMC, which is fair given how powerful "Creature Flashback" is. I agree this is a great limited card on its face; a little below average stat-wise but Vigilance + Embalm is pretty solid.

I am really starting to like the embalm keyword. This is great for mid to late game (in a limited environment) when you run out of steam. I may even run embalm creatures in casual constructed.
Embalm is like the grixis mechanic from shards but better cause it creates a token that does not goes away at end of turn and seeing that the cost on average is 2 more than the cmc i may say it os prety huge on limited: grab all of them in draft and have "fun"
I hope Standard players like to grind, because if this mechanic is pushed at all your going to be fighting through a lot of value.
I mean, considering that the one they put onto a promo is only kinda okay, I don't think we have to worry too much about this being something that will dominate standard.

This one is a common and that one is an uncommon. If I had to guess, we'll be seeing Enbalm at rare powerlevels, too.
Just like revolt is a more powerful morbid , this is a much stronger Unearth.
Its overall weaker than Undying as you have to pay the costs, but it works better if you can just mill yourself or discard them etc.
So its a strong ability to double ditch your creatures, all mechanics that do so are pretty strong, as they are automatic card advantage, against "normal" cards.
why do I get the feeling that white is gonna be overly strong again, while at first glance it just looks 'okay'. Kaladesh was a nice little reprieve from white being overly pushed, and whether people like the current standard or not, it's extremely balanced colors wise. This specific card looks like solid limited fodder. But I'm pretty sure there will be at least one completely busted rare/mythic for white that has embalm. I do like the mechanic, I just hope the spells mechanic from that dusk dawn card features a couple powerful blue/and or red 'flashback' like sorceries or instants to help battle the value mania that white will have with embalm.
Keep in mind, depending on how prevalent -1/-1 counters are in the set, low toughness like this 3/2 might affect its playability. Embalm does help its case though.
Do you think it will be a "white only" mechanic? The two spoiled cards with the mechanic are white, the sandworms in the first Amonkhet story also seem to be white and there's also the hint that on amonkhet, life and death seem to be twisted somehow. So maybe white is the new black?
If it was white only, it wouldn't need to say the token is white. This is going to pull some reverse penumbra on some cards.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

specifically stating the token is white is indeed neccessary, since the non-token version is white due to its mana cost, which the token lacks.
So could be an exclusively white mechanic, could come up in other colors where it creates zombies of the respective color (or still white tokens, who knows?)

You are correct. I didn't think about that since I was still misremembering stuff from the guessing stage. Though in the reveal article it specifically states:
Quote from So Much Amonkhet News »
And now that it's all service, all the time and doesn't care about whatever it was it cared about while alive, it's white instead of whatever color it used to be.
So I assume they are not putting that out there just to reveal later that the white-washing never does more than replace the effect of the mana cost.
I imagine we will see contenders of all five colors that get recruited into the mummified army after completing the trials though with a focus in white since it is the most likely to feel honorbound to give their best and get recruited.

Would embalm be considered an activated ability for this creature? I haven't played in like 10+ years so I'm a bit rusty on the terminology. If so, a card like Training Grounds can make for some fun casual modern decks to cheapen the ability.
Embalm is an activated ability, but (at the time you activate it) one of a creature card in your graveyard, not of a creature you control, so Training Grounds' discount doesn't apply.
It was uploaded by a product page by mistake.

But honestly Standard has jaded me so much I probably won't bother buying into it until rotation is over.
We'll see. So far it hasn't been put on anything worth playing, let alone playing twice.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
Maybe a little more wavering next time.
If it was white only, it wouldn't need to say the token is white. This is going to pull some reverse penumbra on some cards.
