“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
So the whole "Amonkhet is Bolas's breeding ground for new planeswalker minions" just got a whole lot more plausible.
Think about it: the best warriors and magic users (who Bolas would want as minions) are systematically located and killed traumatically (which is known to activate planeswalker sparks). Do this over and over and over again, and you're bound to get a few successes.
So I see two things from the story. 1. This is almost proof that Bolas is in the second block in the amonket set.The paragraph did say when he returns. 2. I'm willing to bet hour of devastation will be when the sun gets between the Bolas horn mounment. The block I think will focus on what Bolas does on Amonket in his return.
Hour of devastation will have Bolas return and collect his minions and he will order the Gods to destroy the barrier and kill everyone since he doesn't need the place anymore.
I find it very interesting how Hazoret is the R goddess is the final, death-delivering trial overseer. Seems unusual for R, yet at the same time, seems to be somewhat tied to the Anubis inspiration she draws from.
Ironic I've found 2 death gods to devote myself to in different blocks. Erebos in Theros, now Hazoret. Wonder how the personalities and/or motivations for these deities will play out.

Vorthos-player with way too much time on his hands and a love of thematic decks.
EDH - Yes, Each One is Named After a Song. I love tying music to my decks.
I like how Amonkhet has a generally peaceful setting though. Nicol Bolas wants his plane to be happy! He's not all that bad then, eh?
The moment when you realize the Bolas is actually the good guy and Ugin is an Evil manipulating prick and the Gatewatch is a gang of interplanar rebels

Having an enormous army of elite zombie soldiers would be a pretty good reason to want an Interplanar Bridge. Would be a lot easier for Bolas to do that than summon them all individually.
They need to have a cycle of cats. Like a cat lord and cat zombies. Then when the pharaoh is killed a million cats disperse in every direction and spread their meowing ways.
So the planar portal doesn't transport'living' material but what about 'Undead' Super zombies from the trials. All the while those few who 'spark' are slaves/agents of Bolas.
Jackal god's name is spelled wrong here, should be Hazoret according to the regular Glorybringer card's flavor text.
