Too bad embalm doesn't make the zombies black. Not sure why zombies are white in this block, seems kinda weird to me, despite reading the whole "service and nothing else" part of the article.
6/15/2010 Training Grounds affects only creatures you control on the battlefield. The costs of activated abilities that work in other zones (such as cycling or unearth) won't be reduced.

Dude- White Zombies are cool enough to name a band after!
White zombies have precedent in other media- Tidus and Auron from FFX spring to mind, as well as certain characters from various zombie movies.
The flavor is basically that they have some unfinished task binding them to undeath.
They pretty much always die when they accomplish their goal.

There are both white and black zombies in here - white zombies seem to be the province of embalm and mummies, but there are other more 'normal' zombies that want to eat your BRAINZZZZZZZ.

Clancy: Uh, if they don't have either a Canopic Jar artifact that sacs itself to give Embalm to a creature card in your graveyard, or an 'Embalming Station' that gives it to all of them, there will be a huge gap.
If they spent enough time on getting the builder aspects of Egypt in play, they certainly will have done a lot with Embalm.

1) Now let's hope we see some White Snakes.
2) SPOILER Tidus would be an Illusion, not Zombie END SPOILER
Also, a couple of Forgotten Realms novels have an undead paladin of Tyr, would would be either a Zombie or Skeleton, but definitely White aligned (especially being a paladin of TYR). So White ombies do have some basis in fiction already.

Intensity, Integrity, Intelligence, Personified and Penguinified.
I'm betting the 'give target creature card in a graveyard embalm' will be in Hour of Devastation. For new mechanics, they start it at the simplest iteration and then expand it later.
Why Sixth Sense wording "Enchanted creature has "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card" is different from regular "Whenever enchanted creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card"?
Why Sixth Sense wording "Enchanted creature has "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card" is different from regular "Whenever enchanted creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card"?
Sixth Sense grants an ability to enchanted creature, so:
1) Creature won't be vanilla (Muraganda Petroglyphs)
2) Creature can lose it (Turn to Frog)
3) Creature's controller would control its trigger.
I wonder why they didn't just reprint Keen Sense.
Also that scarab looks quite huge for a 1/4.
Sixth Sense is combat damage, Keen Sense is any damage.
I noticed that.
I just wondered if it was a decision to prevent things like ballista abuse as suggested by thatmarkguy or if it's a case of changing the card so it's more in line with what the color does (considering all/many of the planar chaos timeshifted cards break the color pie).
I don't think they just forgot about Keen Sense although that's also a possibility.
This is a Spirit Link / Lifelink change. It's non-intuitive to benefit from enchanting an opponent's creature.
The wording of Curiosity/Keen Sense does specify an opponent taking damage, but it can still happen in multiplayer. This is just a modernized template. Though it IS notable that they reprinted Curiosity several years ago.
As far as color pie, this has been something green has been able to do since Onslaught block.
I know it has better flavor that way, but it just seems wasteful how they had to classify different canine species. Might as well do the same with the avian and the felines, no?
Anyway, hello Jackal Pups. You no longer belong amongst the Ainok.
See, these are the kinds of cards that could have been trickled out slowly throughout the past two months! It would have built so much hype for the set!
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
Pylgrim: While I will never say no to proliferate, if I understand the rotation schedule, proliferate could appear in the next two blocks and still have at least 6 months of time in Standard with everything you mentioned, correct?

I don't think that will work, as when they are in your graveyard you don't control them

That's one of the most invocational spells I can think of!
If they stick to the D&D definition of Invocations (likely),
Sorceries are almost guaranteed.
Instants are definitely possible, but seem less likely.

If we don't get proliferate in the second set of this block, I'll be very pissed/sad.
