Well we know of 3 things before the announcement day even hit now. We know of Ixlan, commander 2017, and Iconic Masters. I'm wondering what is left that they could have not announced (unless they are just doing the spring blocks too in 2018 which I doubt). Also I'm not sure it's me but I feel these announcement days are not working for wizards and they should do away with them.
Just one more reason why having an "announcement day" is a bad idea. There's one thing you want to wait on? Well, now everything else has to be delayed too.
And meanwhile we still get bits and pieces about Iconic Masters and Ixalan. I don't see them really taking any consistent stance on their announcement schedule. Maybe I shouldn't complain. I like getting bits and pieces over time more than floods of information. The whole concept of an announcement day sidn't sit well with me before they used it to push around *all* their announcements.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

They better have something huuuuge for making us wait 3 more months.
1 in a half months actually
GP Vegas time is in 1 month and 3 weeks. Anyway it was around 3 months when I commented.
Not sure if they'll annouce it at GP Vegas. It does seem a little late for an announcement and in the articles they make no mention of anything except hour of devastation spoilers. However I don't think they have many earlier events in June so I'd say GP Vegas is a great guess at very best.
The Ice age has returned to Dominaria, but this time it's colder even the underground seas have frozen, and the tropical islands have iced over. The elder dragon's awake to see what has befallen their lands. Alliances will be forged and new heroes will rise to help snap Dominaria out of this calamity.
The set will be called Ice Ice Agey *queue Under Pressure melody that Ice ripped off.*

I prefer similar. I liked it a lot more when each product had its own announcement about 4-8 months before it came out rather than getting a dozen things at once.
Saw this hot bit of info in a slip-up from Wizards to a major retailer:
Return to Modern Masters 2015
From the Vault: Homelands
Duel Decks: Kamigawa vs. The Dark
Commons Masters (MSRP $12/pk and returning to 8-card packs)
New card rarity being revealed: Ultra Foil (each Ultra Foil comes with a unique foiling process and a small tidbit of the original art affixed to the card)

Commons Masters could break open Pauper if they downshifted more stuff. Would actually pay to see that, but yes. They do need a whiff of fresh air, and fast.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
Saw this hot bit of info in a slip-up from Wizards to a major retailer:
1)Return to Modern Masters 2015
2)From the Vault: Homelands
3)Duel Decks: Kamigawa vs. The Dark
4)Commons Masters (MSRP $12/pk and returning to 8-card packs)
5)New card rarity being revealed: Ultra Foil (each Ultra Foil comes with a unique foiling process and a small tidbit of the original art affixed to the card)
This stinks of fake info:
1)What should "Return to Modern Masters 2015" be? A reprint of Modern Masters 2015? not gonna happen, Masters sets are sold based in their limited print run
2)Homelands is a set without value, a very bad "From the Vault"
3)"Kamigawa" on the face of a product! No way! Wizards of the Coast are not idiots and Duel Deck contains only "re"-printed cards
4)Commons Masters? For a mere 12$ a pack? With that much you should buy a (not very competitive) deck
5)After masterpieces we will not see a new rarity or we will riot.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
I do appreciate Amonkhet, Ravnica, Kaladesh, Theros, etc. They are all interesting worlds, but I would appreciate some generic fantasy, even as a solitary set or product once in awhile. Which is why a Return to Dominaria would be perfect. Its basically a plane teeming with that sort of flavor. Even Ajani is like "Lets regroup on Dominaria" to the Gatewatch in the story article of Aether Revolt called "Renewal". Even Dominaria, which was once an apocalyptic wasteland by the way, has now healed up.
This would be great! I was sarcastic (I tought that nobody would have got that), but that's also what I think. Come on man! How should they put a tiny piece of original art inside a card? That would modify the feeling of the card.
haha I mean, for the tactile reason only they wouldn't do it, but it is a regular thing with sports cards to get a piece of a jersey or something. Wouldn't surprise me though!
If all the hype just leads up to the movie, then that's basically a microcosm of everything wrong with the game right now. The only good that can come out of a MTG movie is it nets Wizards a ton of extra dollars to spend on R&D and such, you know, stuff that actually impacts the game.
I know this is an old post, but oh dear. If the MTG movie is successful, the money it makes is going to do two things: bankroll the second MTG movie, and go in to shareholders' and executives' pockets. If anything, a successful movie franchise will show Hasbro the game is even less necessary for their profits.

Because the success of the Transformers live-action movie caused fewer Transformers toys to be made, eventually resulting in no toys at all. /s

What does merchandising have to do with putting more money in to R&D for a card game that is already released at the point of saturation? Yeah I'm sure we will see more Jace action figures but you're completely deluded if you think a Magic movie will improve the card game in any way.

I know he thinks I'm impressed by a 102 MPH fastball in the 9th inning... Ok, I'm impressed, but that doesn't mean I can't crush it.
I don't need a dozen announcements for the 25th anniversary, I need just one: "for this anniversary, we've decided to finally let go of the reserved list for the health and future of the game."
Wrong thread again? I swear this thing just keeps coming back to me, gotta lay of that tinfoil hat...
They can get rid of the list, but still refuse to reprint those cards.
Do we know anything other than "in June" as far as the actual date goes? June is like a week away...
MaRo also said it would be before Hour of Devastation spoilers started, so at least that rules out the last week of June... Yippie.
Might be sooner. They said they'd start hours of devastation previews at GP Vegas which is June 16th. I feel we may get the announcement there as well like knowing wizards they'll do the announcement right before spoilers. So may not be saying much but this technically rules out last 2 weeks of June.
