There is just no pleasing some of you is there? For years we hear over and over again that Enemy Fetches need a reprint. WOTC needed something to sell this set and here you have it. This will definitely decrease cost on these fetches as well. They are being printed at rare not at mythic. Compare this to EMA which reprinted Wasteland and saw its value drop around 75% for a card in super high demand.
The demand for Wasteland isn't even close to the demand for enemy fetches. It's not a super popular Commander card and the Legacy playerbase is a tiny fraction of the Modern playerbase. Fetches are some of the most important cards in every format where they're legal.
Unless the print run for this set is absolutely massive I doubt the price will really fall much at all long term. Compare to Noble Hierarch. Printed at rare in MM2015, lower demand than enemy fetches, currently worth almost exactly what it was worth before MM2015.
However, you're right that the Wasteland comparison is a bad one. It's just that your counter is equally bad. A better example would be Tarmogoyf's price history, but even that's not a particularly good one.
Actually Goyf a bad example as well considering it is Mythic in both reprints and in 2 sets with a limited run. Maybe a better comparison is Doubling Season which nosedived in value after its reprint only to see it spike recently because of Atarka.
That "k" is a "x" of atraxa
By the way Doubling season got reprint it price tanked then when the print run of modern masters one ending it jumped back up.
I don't that's going to happen for most of this amazing reprints in this.
So... that's 7 $20+ rares spoiled in one day? Yeah, that fells like pretty much all of the value that Wizards can fit into rares. If we're lucky, snapcaster will stay at rare. If any other value rares are printed in this set, I will be VERY confused.
A fumigate without the lifegain, but at a 2 mana discount? It might see play. Too bad it doesn't stop Cat combo. Mardu vehicles is going to love it.
These new lands will probably make a Revolt deck viable in standard. The life loss is a pain, but wow. That's going to change the entire face of standard more than the bans ever did.
C'mon bro. It's only a 1 mana discount. Obviously not that big of an improvement over Fumigate. I think I'd rather have the life gain.

During BFZ, when they released info on Expeditions and full art basics, there was a seller I had bought a box and fat pack from with 2,000+ feedback. There were several hundred other people with orders too. After the price spikes, he canceled all orders, received several hundred negative feedback comments, and his account was closed. No idea if it was of his own choice or eBay stepped in, but a lot of us got hosed, especially since it took more than a month after release to get a refund. eBay is very sketchy when it comes to pre orders.

Keep in mind that they are printing *much* more of this than usual.
Even with the lure of Fetches, $7 packs are only so appealing as prices are falling all around.
Of course, that doesn't preclude eBay assery, but it seems probably not worth the backlash in this case.

So do you guys think that since the fetches aren't in a regular standard set, that they are planning on making a frontier-esque format that doesn't have fetches?
Does this mean the end of fetches in normal standard sets?

If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
So... that's 7 $20+ rares spoiled in one day? Yeah, that fells like pretty much all of the value that Wizards can fit into rares. If we're lucky, snapcaster will stay at rare. If any other value rares are printed in this set, I will be VERY confused.
Relax there's Ben a ton of value cards in one rarity there is probably room for a couple of more.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Now I can finish my set of fetches and damnation. What took them so long????
There's an article on the mothership that explains it, somewhat. It was supposed to be in FtV: Annihilation (in 2014!), but then it went into M2015 Design and stayed there past the point FtV:A was finalized. Then Pack Rat happened to standard and they bumped Damnation out of M15. Then they changed Unconditional Standard Sweepers to 5 mana and printed Languish. Then they unbanned Bitterblossom and jammed it into MM2015 in the spot Damnation was going to have, because they didn't fully realize it (Bitterblossom) was worthless in Modern.
I anticipate Aven Mindcensor gets reprinted because it hasn't been printed in forever.
I could see this being in Amonkhet, since one of the Gods is a Bird-thing and Bolas does mind-magic? It badly needs an art update, at least. Not that Guay's art is poor by any means but it doesn't blend in with today's Magic.
Set looks good so far. But for some reason the cards look oddly pale... maybe it's just the artwork for all of them or something.
And it's not which is what I exspected
And yet they explainnthey have Ben trying for months to reprinted
from the vault:annilation. Reason of failure - some dude insisted it should be in the 2015 core set instead
magic 2015. Reason of failure - because of the most power deck during the time of theoros it was a mon black rat deck they couldn't gamble on it making in impossible to beat
Modern masters 2015 (yes I think was mean't to be there) reason of failure - because of bitterblossom getting unbanned it took damnation out
standard sets going forward reason of failure - because of the new wrath esc cards like lanquish and also probably due to the confusion of regeration.
And because of those fails that's why we all thought it would never be reprinted
Modern masters 2017 later he got sick of the jokes and talk to Sam Stoddard (the lead designer of mm17) on reprinting it and luckily. He wanted it in the set as a matter of fact it was a huge one on his list. It almost fail again to supreme verdict due to theme of multi-color but they didn't want a 5th strike on reprint.
And I'm guessing for eternal masters of why it failed there is because of how little that set would be printed so wrath of God got in over damnation because it was printed more.
People do not make a living on collecting. People are NOT smart. Prices are already dropping before the reprint has even hit the market. If zendikar fetches were still the only modern legal fetches I would agree, but they're not; we have tons of allied fetches to drive down the price on the enemy fetches. Here's where you're wrong in your calculations. Demand has to increase substantially in order for the supply that is being introduced to the market to not lower the price. Tarmogoyf, multiformat staple, drops every time it gets reprinted and that's at mythic rare. These are normal rares, there are 5 of them, and they are going to be opened far more because of that. The price is going to drop, end of story.

I was at work and was short on time and wanted to make a quick reply so apologies on the misspelling of Atraxa. That being said, my comparison still stands. I bought a playset of Doubling Season about 6 months after its MM reprint for about $25 a piece. 6 months ago before Atraxa was printed, it sat around 30-35 and was slowly inching its way back up. Only after Atraxa and her popularity did it rise significantly and is not around $60 a pop
Boros Guildgate is #231 and Crumbling Necropolis is #233 and they didn't spoil anything else that could be #232, I'm pretty sure I can guess which card is going to be in the set between those two.
Unfortunately every try hard from Sacramento to Shanghai preaches from the top of their 27 lands + Mana Reflection that Tooth and Nail and Time Stretch are fine to play in the same turn but Armageddon is unfair.
