The Gideon art looks like it will be nice. Might want one when I see it up close. Set looks amazing, the flavor on point so far. Really excited for this.
Saw the trials - Solidarity, Knowledge, Strength, Ambition, and Zeal. Feels like Theros stuff, I liked it.

DECKS:
Commander:
Aurelia the Warleader - Combat Tricks and Swarm
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic - Lifegain/Lifedrain Pillowfort
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice - Token Assault
Meren of Clan Nel Toth - Reanimator Value
Mizzix - Out of the Box Spellslinger
I wonder if the god type will be a thing again. Also, loving the art and colors of the boxes and packs. Not sure why that yellow/gold is so appealing. Super hyped for the set!
I don't want to ask "does anyone actually like seeing the Gatewatch every set?" because I'm sure some percentage of the fanbase does.
My question is, are you telling me there's really a majority of players that prefer seeing the same cast every set? Because if not, then having them constantly present is a questionable decision.

On MTGO as Protoman.
On 7/14/10, broke 1900 mark! <3 ROE.
I see wings and a crocodile head, so quite possibly. Might be Amonkhet's version of Ammut. Take care that his crocodile head doesn't eat your face!
Catfolk 99% confirmed! I mean, it could be a lady wearing a cat mask, but I'm feeling hopeful.
Gideon and Liliana confirmed to be the main Gate-Walkers for Amonkhet. Jace's will probably be in HOD, accompanied by a red or green PW. Or, they're waiting for Ravnica 3 (which could very well be the block after Amonkhet) to give him his next starring role.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

I see someone didn't read Renewal. As if you did you would be aware of the Gatewatch heading over to Amonkhet and why. Also it looks like the main focus this time is Gideon & Liliana rather than Chandra & Nissa. Which means it is a change in cast and focus.

Very possible it could be the equivalent of Ammut. I wouldn't be surprised if this is what the dragons of Amonkhet were either. I would be surprised however if that were typed as a Crocodile Sphinx.
Its actually a "Creature - Hound" and just enjoys wearing cat mask .
They just got PW decks in Kaladesh. Surely they can wait until the block after to get more?
So Chandra, Nissa, and Gideon are Bolas' three opponents in Archenemy, eh? Guess he just can't get away from Naya-colored opponents, can he? Bolas is looking rather pimped out in that gear. My bro described him as faBolas.

You know that is 95% of fiction right?
For years people have asked/wanted more of a main/central character(s) from magic.

Since it looks the package leaks are real, looks like we are getting the Atlazan block next. After that i'd say Ravnica 3 is the best bet and would star Jace again.

With Liliana and Gideon have PW deck versions makes me wonder if we'll see the full suite of Gatewatch members in the block, plus Bolas and maybe another.

Catfolk 99% confirmed! I mean, it could be a lady wearing a cat mask, but I'm feeling hopeful.
I think is a human wearing a cat mask (look her arms, bronce skin with no fur) but we must wait. Maybe there are catfolk in Amonkhet and they are green.
I LOVE the crocodile dragon.
The Justice Friends are in Amonkhet too? damn, they dont rest?
I want to know what the rest of the colors. Ley say humans are white and mummies are black, vulture avians can be white too or blue, crocodile people can be green or blue, catfolk can be white or green, viashino/scorpion people can be red.
Yep. Looks like I'm putting my money firmly back in my pocket.
Oh one of these people. I call your bluff. You would so buy Amonkhet cards if it meant you could profit off it. As its extremly foolish to not do so and is the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot. Even with pucatrade or whatever else you use.
"I could have bought a bunch of Bonfire of the Damned when they were cheap but because of the fictional characters I didn't like, I didn't. That will show Wizards for incorperating those fictional characters in the story."

Call my "bluff" all you want. I've been spending less and less on Magic as the Gatewatch had been forced further and further down our throats. I spent $0.00 on Kaladesh. I did go to the Aether Revolt prerelease to support my very small comic book store for their first ever M:tG event.
You mention Pucatrade? I don't use the site anymore either. I paid a silly amount of points for an Arid Mesa so I could wash my hands of it. The site is deader than my will to live (I'm married, so pretty dead).
I'm sure that there are individuals out there who can't stop spending money on Magic. I'm not one of them. The Gatewatch is garbage, and they make Magic uninteresting for me, so shocker, I'm not so interested in the game anymore. I'll watch the spoilers, and that's about it. If Bolas murders the ***** out of the Gatewatch that might put a smile on my face.

Some member of the Gatewatch must die, im tired of them. Kill Jace, Chandra or Liliana, we have plenty of them, i can deal with a bit more of Gideon and Nissa. We need new blood.

Impossible Creature Type Game and The Bestiary are my home.
The real question is if we will see any reprints of value or if they are going to pull another Aether Revolt. That last release felt like they completely severed ties with the past sets and now the box EVs are terrible.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

To hear MaRo say it, the response to the Gatewatch (especially Larry Stu Jace) has been overwhelmingly positive, and they are going to be a part of everything forever. Also, if no one you know likes it, that's just because you're biased and the people you play with aren't representative of Magic players as a whole.
I'm sure he's absolutely right. Also, from a marketing perspective, I'm 100% sure he's correct that customers respond to familiar faces and stories. Hence, Gatewatch ad infinitum.
The problem: the more you codify Magic's brand and push that brand to the forefront of the Magic experience, the more Magic loses its ability to do the unexpected. At some point it won't even matter if WotC creates the greatest set with the most unique mechanics and the most compelling flavor, because everything will be in service to telling the next chapter of the Gatewatch soap opera, and I'll have reached my saturation point with that noise (many already have).
I'm old enough to remember when White Wolf self-destructed in the late 1990's / early 2000's, in large part due to a very similar initiative (the World of Darkness "metaplot") to tie their sprawling brands together and give confused newcomers a central storyline in which to participate. So, it didn't matter that White Wolf simultaneously made some really great mechanical revisions to their game systems, because their metaplot infiltrated absolutely every product they released, and that metaplot made players absolutely numb with its inescapable banality.
WotC is smarter, and Magic is a more popular and resilient game, but I guarantee that, at some point, WotC is going to back off this Gatewatch crap and probably admit it was a mistake. Magic can't exist without its core audience of creative, intelligent, die-hard nerds (see: mtgsalvation), and if the Gatewatch stuff starts alienating enough of us, they WILL relent. I'm not there yet, but I can smell it on the wind.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who is damn tired of the Gatewatch being plastered all over everything. I knew it was coming but we don't even get a new walker planeswalker deck? God damnit.
People who don't read the story are surprised to see the Gatewatch again and they're pissed off about it.
People who do read the story are expecting to see the Gatewatch again and they're even more pissed off about it because they've been reading so much about them already.
Brand recognition is not worth making half your fans want to vomit after having the same few, cartoonish, one-dimensional, poorly-written characters shoved down their throats block after block. For the love of God, at least tone it down a little so that we can actually see the world around them and other characters as more than just short-lived accessories to the Gatewatch for the block.
