The fact that it's foiling makes me think Full Art lands aren't going to be an Amonkhet booster pack thing. But one can hope!
Standard Showdown also returns May 6, which is actually really cool, but I wish that Wizards would maybe run it concurrently with FNM so that the two events don't compete with one another.
My hope is for great Egypt style lands - like a Swampy Nile river, or a Island Delta, Plains of wheat, Mountains as Pyramids, and Forest jungles.

I remember Wizards saying full art lands was a Zendikar thing. It was part of the flavor.
It is true Zendikar had full art lands because of the land theme in original block (and in BFZ, because it was expected), but it is not exclusive - in fact, Unglued and Unhinged had them first.
It has been said multiple times it is something they can and eventually will do outside of Zendikar. Just searching in Mark Rosewater's blog I found this:
My hope is for great Egypt style lands - like a Swampy Nile river, or a Island Delta, Plains of wheat, Mountains as Pyramids, and Forest jungles.
My hope is for mesas that are noticeably arid, catacombs that are sufficiently verdant, rainforests that are convincingly misty, flats that are appropriately marshy, and some tarns that are considerably scalding.

That suggestion is quite fetching.

I just want to see Amonkhet's basics. Don't like full art or foils but these basics have to be among the most hyped for me as a fan of Egypt World. Hope it's more Egypt World than Bolas World in the art though, otherwise it's BFZ all over again.
Full art lands sell sealed product. Wizards would be stupid not to.
Full-art lands sell product when they're a special thing. BFZ full-art lands are still everywhere. If WOTC puts full-art lands into every third or fourth big set, full-art lands will cease to be a reason to buy the set.

Along with many mods, I've moved shop over to MTGNexus. Come check us out!
"Additionally, I'm excited to introduce Magic Open House on April 15, an event-filled day where players can stop by their local store for fun, casual play that includes learn-to-play Magic events, free 2017 Welcome Decks for new players, and premium foil full-art lands for interacting on digital. If there's someone you've been looking to teach Magic, we hope you bring them to a store near you on April 15." - What's In Store for In-Store Play
Hmm. I wonder what digital interaction means with an in-store event, and whether or not there's more than one way to get the Full-Art Foil Lands.
Yeah that's an interesting one for sure. Wonder if it means accessing something through an app? Signing up for something online? Maybe running through a tutorial on the website (like how to play) and getting given a prize-code

I remember Wizards saying full art lands was a Zendikar thing. It was part of the flavor. This will change shortly just like Treasures and Expeditions at some point only was a Zendikar thing? Then came along Kaladesh and now we call them Masterpieces.
I also remember Wizards posting the results of their post-Zendikar survey saying that they heard our request to print more full-art lands. Don't get mad at them for continuing to do popular stuff. It'd be weird if they didn't.

+1 for that post alone, but I think if anything, we'll get them in the block after Amonkhet (Atlazan?). It would fit perfectly to the thematic of the land rising or sinking back into the sea, plus bringing them in for the next rotation means they won't collide with bfz duals.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

Just keep in mind, they didn't plan for BFZ and Amonkhet to be legal together. Fetches are still entirely possible.

Oh yea, forgot about that. Do you think R&D would be able to drop them without messing with the design to much? But then there's the theory of wedge/shard style factions of gods on Amonkhet, so fetches may be a design necessity.

Yet they DID plan for Amonkhet and Aether Revolt to be in standard together. I'm sure that Wizards was aware that fetches were excellent enablers during testing, but I don't know if they intended a fetches+revolt standard meta from the beginning. I get it when people say that they want zen fetches to be reprinted or that they need to be reprinted, but people who are absolutely certain that they will be reprinted might be setting themselves up for disappointment. It's unlikely that Wizards is going to throw high-value reprints in standard now that the masterpiece series exists.

well they are even less the kind of thing you put in a limited print run, and they ARE going to be reprinted at some point. Masterpieces can't reasonably stop value reprints

Indeed. The Masterpieces are not going to stop prices rising at all, I mean look at Chalice of the Void which jumped $20 and it just got a Masterpiece. MP's are only super bling and a way to make boosters more exciting.
More high reprints, hell just more decent reprints, are needed with MP's or not.

I didn't say they wouldn't get reprinted period, but I would bet on their appearance more in a Master's set than in standard. I already said that I get the need for the prices to go down, but it's unlikely that they'll be used to sell a standard set. RTS, Theros, and Khans all had high-value reprints used to stimulate sales, and my point was that, from the company's perspective, they don't need to resort to that anymore with the masterpiece lottery. Discussions of fetches in Amonkhet always either lead to how bad the prices of the lands are, which isn't indicative of anything, or that the set will likely be multicolor, which doesn't necessarily mean fetches will be the duals of choice. If we had a more solid leak or hint about when Zen fetches will next appear, I'd be more willing to believe they'd be in standard. This could be a chance for Wizards to step in on the secondary market, but it could just as easily prove a flashpoint.
