And as we have mentioned frequently thoroughly this set, though sometimes in shorter - possibly fragmented - sentences
this guy is a common
which is just so awesome
I read someone's comment--do not recall who or in which thread--that they were a little upset that Standard was going to be several more months of Emrakul versus Gideon. I don't think the person who made that comment has been looking at the same cards we have been reviewing.
Maulfist Revolutionary is SNEAKY strong. Proliferating when it enters the battlefield or dies is very strong. Plus being a 3/3 trampler for 3 is not bad either.
Oh *****, twin in the SAME BLOCK even. Turn 4 kills are so going to happen, standard is going to be the worst format in years. Get twin combo'ed or get emrakuled. People are going to HATE this ROFL

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Saheeli isn't Deceiver Exarch, she's a planeswalker that can't protect herself. Time will tell if this is strong enough to become top tier (which is pretty likely IMHO, turn 4 infinite combos don't come around very often in Standard) but it's definitely beatable.
Whoopsie noodle, we accidentally printed splintertwin in standard again.
I wonder if R&D legitimately missed this one...They didn't even preview Felidar Guardian during preview week, as they typically do with powerful cards; they just snuck it in at the end with the full set review.
Saheeli Rai is already being bought out on mtgo. No doubt they will ban that creature to protect Standard. No way they let a turn 4 infinite happen in Standard.
That's one of 2 turn 4 standard infinites revealed today, though undoubtedly the more troublesome one.

Definitely a straight up mistake, and worse yet, one that should have been easy to catch. After twin, they should have been putting a reminder on every dev file for cards that can create tokens that free repeatable abilities can go infinite, and once saheeli was printed, I remember actually reading some forumers here pointing out that it goes infinite like twin, they just didn't have any standard targets, and there was no way they'd be silly enough to print one while she's still in rotation. Welp.
You'd think the same safety net would be in place for "Don't print a card with a 0-cost activated ability, and a card that grows every time an ability is activated, to the same standard". But, well...

At least that one needs a way to bust through chump blockers.
Ouch, that Saheeli combo is going to be bad; it may even warrant a 0-hour band/errata before prerelease. It's a 2 card combo that unleashes a horde on the very turn the second piece comes down. Basically, unless you have a fog in hand to stop it, you're dead. And even if you do fog, you need to deal with either piece before the next turn or you're dead again.
At least the Crackdown Construct isn't hasty by itself nor does it trample by itself, so it gives you time to deal with it at Sorcery speed before it comes at you, or at least to chump it, barring other tricks.
So Salheeli Rai + Felidar Guardian is an infinite with them blinking each other, but how is that a combo? Am I missing something? What's the third card?
Oh sht. It blinks Salheeli.... Damn, that's strong.

The felidar doesn't get flickered, it just gets an ETB trigger each time a token is made by the saheeli who gets flickered, so you're making a new token each cycle and still have the old one, they're all untapped and have haste, attack for 50,000.
But the best is those combos cards aren't so terrible in and of themselves that you can't just jam both into a your Jeskai control deck which has whatever removal/counterspells/draw cards you want. It already features the fumerole. Sahelli Rei is not unreasonable in that deck and has some not scrys to help find things, Nahari is perfect to get you the piece you are missing with card draw and the ultimate.
Welcome to COMBO winter 2017. I for one welcome our new combo overlords.

I am going to make this deck. Immediately.

...Right?
It's my fault. I passed a Saheeli for a prophetic prism pack 3 last week.

I am glad I already got my set of Saheeli Rai, though.

It's like, I thought Modern was supposed to be the "turn 4 format". First Aetherworks Marvel into Emrakul, the Promised End, now this...
That's one of 2 turn 4 standard infinites revealed today, though undoubtedly the more troublesome one.
But there's also:
T1 Wandering Fumarole
T2 Land, any 2-cost mana acceleration, like Druid of the Cowl
T3 Land, Crackdown Construct
T4 activate Wandering Fumarole, activate its 0 ability a thousand times, attack with 1002/1002 Crackdown Construct.
omg that is even attainable in limited

Given their recent track record, they likely missed it.

Choose one of these judge of creation:
Make Strionic Resonator shine!
You can not grasp the true form of Ashiok's attack!

Isn't Wandering Fumarole's ability still a mana ability since your still paying 0 mana. Paying 0 is still paying a mana ability.
Mana abilities are the ones that *produce* mana, not *cost* 0+ mana.
Oh sht. It blinks Salheeli.... Damn, that's strong.
