I do believe this is my favorite part of Thassa, God of the Sea on a generic cost artifact with added creature-based card draw. That can easily be triggered by Ornithopter.
well, that's beautiful... seems great in EDH at the absolute minimum. Does legacy or Modern Elves want this?
Legacy Elves don't have a problem going off by turn 2 thanks to Quirion Ranger and Wirewood Symbiote allowing you to bounce and untap Elves. Modern Elves don't have access to those cards and thus are a little slower, though they still manage to pick up gas by turn 3 or 4. The Locket's scry 1 and repeat mana payments for card draw just don't hold up to Glimpse of Nature's ridiculous potential with stuff like Nettle Sentinel and Heritage Druid allowing you to combo into all your 1-3 drops; tap three Sentinels, cast Elvish Archdruid, untap your Sentinels, draw a card, etc. Glimpse and Heritage Druid turn all your Elves into Elvish Mystic + Elvish Visionary with functional haste.
That all said, I like this card.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Animar wants. Hell, Mayael and Ruric Thar want too. Probably also...just about every tribal deck ever.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Well, this saves me $20 I would have used for Glimpse of Nature for Freyalise. Another auto-add in a set full of auto-adds to my various decks. I like this block.
Modern Elves wants this. Mod-Elves gets beat by an abundance of removal with a clock.
Lifecrafter's Bestiary:
- first of all, any card with the text draw in it is of potential interest to Elves. This card is a colorless engine fueled by casting cheap elves...
- single handedly answers decks that use targeted removal. Even if they have a ton of removal, they'll run out of gas before you do.
- you'll run out of mana before you run out of elves which is a rather ridiculous thing to say in elves!!! You'll never go stagnant even against board wipes.
- unlike lead the stampede and coco, it is a permanent. This allows Genesis Wave Elves to grind a game out favorably as opposed to all-in Lord'ing up an aggro strategy. Going wide becomes a strategy used almost exclusively to race which can be buoyed with life gain.
- scry is huge in a deck that doesn't want to draw the few lands it actually has. Not only that but Green Draw decks don't generally run shuffling effects which can hurt scry.
Turn 4 came along and there were 4 elves on the board... with a 7 card hand and a 3 card advantage. Guess what happens next:
a very LONG turn
PS: Tangleroot doesn't beat Curio or Intruder, it's win more.
PPS: I have a Genesis Elves deck that uses 3 Lifecrafter's, and it prevents me from running out of gas AND draws my wincon. Not to mention the importance of being a permanent to G-Wave.
