Well as far as timmy's platinum angel goes, its not a one-card lock, and not only that, if you're in a losing board state and the enemy is swinging into you for fatal, losing a 5/5 blocker is really going to speed up how fast you die in a couple turns. I imagine a playable version of this same card might have read something like "If you would lose the game, instead exile all creatures", but we can't have nice things.
Mill isn't that common, playing this versus infect is about equal as her platinum cousin, and commander points you're right about. Except this isn't an artifact and susceptible to 2 different types of removals spread out across the 4 removal colors.
Sure, there is a chance of spending $4 on a booster and getting the Mythic Rare $30 super card. There is also a chance of surviving putting your tongue in a light socket.
are you sure? it is a replacement effect so could it replace an enemy's labman's win trigger with you going to starting life?
Mill: no way to not loose if you can't draw
Infect: im 97% sure those counters do not get removed when the archangel exiles
Commander points: no way to dodge those if kozielk, the great distortion hit you twice that's it your at 21 and the commander damage stays and not affected by the ability
Alt wins: I'm pretty sure alt win cards can counter the ability as well.

You can be drowning in 40 infect counters and you can still be alive with a platinum angel. With this one, you will die from each reset. The same with commander points and mill. It is too bad demonic PaCT is gone, would have been funny to reset yourself with that.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
Phoenix Down Angel is pretty cool. It's expensive but unique.
As for what this doesn't save you from, infect and commander damage will still kill you but it seems like most people have no idea how mill actually wins. IF you would draw from an empty library, you lose the game. When you would lose from drawing that card, Phoenix Down Angel will stop you from losing the game instead. In short, you'll get an one more turn to kill your opponent.
Alternate win conditions vary. If we're talking about Laboratory Maniac, the opponent has to draw another card in order to win again. Various "win-game" upkeep triggers would fail to kill you.
There will be times where you still won't be able to kill your opponent with that extra chance before you would lose again but when you do... vengeance will be sweet.
Agreed--clearly not for Modern because of Infect...but a decent one-of in the sideboard if you aren't facing that deck. You can dodge mill in Standard (presuming you can find anyone playing a mill strategy) via Perpetual Timepiece (well, okay, not against Ulamog) and the only instant "you lose" card which exists right now is Triskaidekaphobia. In upcoming Limited and Standard this will be an amazing 1-of or 2-of in that deck you really hate to play against. Against mill in Modern or Legacy, I am certain there are some permanents which allow you to skip your draw step; the only one which comes to mind immediately is Island Sanctuary.
This is a "gain 40 life" effect in commander, tacked onto an angel body. Sometimes you have to pay more than 40 life to get kill more than 1 opponent.
I think it will see some play.
But decks that run resolute angel certainly don't wan't to run a second one and resolute is pretty much better than this. If this angel had flash or it could protect it self then it probably would playable.

This is true, but being an artifact versus infect colors is always a problem. Platinum has a better overall effect, but is more vulnerable while this is bigger and less susceptible tof removal while having a marginally less powerful effect.

Budget seriously
It's not going to rescue you from
Mill
Infect
commander points
And opponents using alt winning cards.
It does save you from Mill

About Mindslaver rulings:
"Lose slower" does not inspire me as a concept.
I see it more in terns of life as a resource.

that would have been fun

No
But a combo would be having 51 life and having near-death experience on the field just before your turn would be funny.
And the archangel is a safety net if someone has a 1 damage shooter on the field.
