(On Lantern Control)"A guy who literally just sits there and mills cards he doesn't like from your library while he slowly, slowly kills you this way."
"If a person's profile includes anime or My Little Pony, feel free to ignore everything they say."
If Implement of Combustion were a real object, I would make it a centerpiece of any hypothetical desk I would own. I would just hope it wouldn't blow up on me.
The white one will probably find its way into modern eggs decks because why not gain infinite life while you do everything else. The red one is an interesting alternative to Pyrite Spellbomb that plays better with Krark-Clan Ironworks.
Of course the blue one has to cost more than all of the other ones...
Should have cost 1. It's so lame.
Ha ha, what? What are you smoking? You think 1U spread out however you want it to draw 2 cards is fine? Thank god people on this forum aren't MTG designers.
And the black card of the cycle goes back to discard. And at sorcery speed. Was hoping for a different effect, like the black puzzleknot doing something other than discard.
Oh well.
This is clearly a joke as this card would be great as a 2 mana draw two. Especially with it being invest 1 now and 1 at end of opponents turn to draw 2. Card would be bonkers.

I'm not sure if you are joking, but if it only cost 1 it would be too good (two cards for 1U mana plus Revolt trigger). Although if it cost 2, it would essentially be a slightly better Divination which seems fine to me.

It's the same cost as most straightforward draw 2 cards these days, 1U to draw 2 would have been overpowered, and even 2 would have made it possibly too strong for standard. It's fairly costed, but not too good.
Black one is nice: discard + draw for 3 mana. Blue one is okay once you invested in it and given some GY recursion in the set, it can net you more than one card.

Marshall fails to RTFC on the red one, which can only hit players, and is pretty awful.
I feel like there is a niche deck where you get like 6 of the black one and rip up their hand.
Man, why does Red always get the short end of the stick in these kinds of cycles? At first I thought it said "target creature or player", but nope. It's just the world's most underwhelming Lava Axe variant in all the goddamn world. With that said you get all the cool points if you actually manage to kill someone with that. Even the White one's lifegain seems more valuable, because it buys you time to use your new stuff.
Well, aside from maybe the Black and Blue one, they seem all bad, with the Red one being in a whole other level of badness. With recursion, the B and U ones can do some damage, and the Blue one can be fetched with Trophy Mage (but why would you do that? Even in Limited man, whyyyy?).

If it makes you feel any better, the article's author also misread the red one, and did a whole paragraph about sideboarding it vs. 1-toughness creatures. Pretty embarrassing actually.

Even WOTC writers wish this thing hit creatures. I don't feel like 2 mana (even spread across two turns) to kill a really small dude and cantrip is busted.
I think I like the green and black ones the best. Their effects feel valuable either popping them immediately or waiting to do so.
