The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.

Energy Palinchron is really neat. Glad they went down this road with a blue Energy rare, as it will make dedicated Energy decks that much easier to build for Standard and EDH.
Why are we comparing this to Palinchron? Palinchron is good because it can generate mana. This thing makes energy, but it costs a ton of mana to do so.
Actually, this might go real nice with aetherworks marvel (just 1-2 copies) to make sure you keep tempo. If you throw this down with marvel, you can bounce and recast it next turn to get another shot with your marvel as soon as it untaps.
Nowhere near close to Palinchron, nor is it "a Palinchron for Energy". Palinchron generates the mana needed to bounce and replay itself. This can generate infinite energy, but only if you have the mana to recast it.

Aetherworks Marvel uses the same 6 energy that this creates. Meaning that with a way to bounce you can use that energy in a very similar way to mana. It's not the same but but it is similar enough to compare the two.

Because a card that generates it's own infinite loop (not counting lands) is the same thing as a card that depends on an additional 1 to 3 other cards? SMH.

Didn't realize a card had to be an exact reprint for it to be compared to something. The card is similar enough (given a totally different environment) to be mentioned as a comparison

It doesn't. But a 3-card combo barely warrants comparison to a self-contained 1-card engine.

Again, this card exists in an entirely different environment with a completely different design philosophy driving the Magic: The Gathering game. Both cards are blue, both cards are big creatures, both cards generate a resource when they enter the battlefield, both can use that resource to bounce back to their hand - both of those resources can be used to cast additional cards or activate additional abilities the turn the card comes into play.
That is enough to warrant comparison (nobody is saying this is as good nor better than Palinchron). Say what you will from here on out, I'm done spending my ENERGY
Its a free re-roll next turn with aetherworks marvel if you dig it out and protects itself, but plainly that deck has bigger noodlier threats to cheat in
Creature - Whale
Flying.
When Aethertide Whale enters the battlefield, you get EEEEEE.
Pay EEEE: Return Aethertide Whale to your hand.

A big blue flyer, that gives you tonnes of energy, some of which can be used to protect it when needed.
Seriously though this seems really good

Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.

There's your infinite mana

EDIT: an since it has not been mentioned in a while, crazy with panharmonicon in play. 12 :E: ? Yikes!
It's really not though. I think this is more comparable to Aethersquall Ancient than Palinchron.

palinchron is not a 1-card engine unless you cheat. You need other cards to net mana. (Or 7 ravnica bounce lands, which is just 7 extra cards.)
