Ensoul with a reanimator is okay, but is the extra mana worth it?

The possibility exists that BUW artifacts/auras featuring Sigarda's Aid might be worth looking into. On the other hand, I am not looking forward to facing turn 3 Smuggler's Copter attacking in the air for 5, which is where this card will first appear. I am going to like it even less when, on turn 4, they cast Uncaged Fury and I can't find an instant-speed removal spell.
Ah I see, so that's why they have like 25-35 spoilers each day.

The "turn an artifact into a 5/5" was exactly what I expected given the description "Tezzeret's Touch". A more expensive Ensoul but you also don't get 2-for-1ed if it resolves, definitely could see some Standard play. Probably too slow and color intensive for modern Affinity, especially given not all lists even play Ensoul Artifact anyways.
Ha yeah. I love how they were like "Member Ensoul Artifact?" "Yeah I member." "Member when it was in standard and played with Ornithopter and people wanted it to be tier 1 bit it wasn't?" "Yeah I member!" "Let's do that again. Except let's do it when there are more artifacts that people care about and are constructed playable."
Loving these spoilers so far. I mean Ensoul Artifact was great back in the day anyway, so the ability to keep the card you lose is pretty awesome, even if it costs an extra mana.

Yea, those are MTG Bars. What can I say, I am a dork
The Scissors deck was bad. Really bad. If my opponent's on a deck that's basically "10% of the time they get a nut draw and 90% of the time you get a bye," I'm positively giddy about my chances. Idk about Standard right now, maybe people will just not play maindeck artifact removal and this will be worth the risk for some free game ones, but I smell trap.
I'm predicting that there are going to be a lot of "bad touch" jokes made when artifacts start attacking with this.
...I guess the UB Artifacts archetype leans more aggressive in AER than it did in KLD; this adds some recursion (I like that it's just Ensoul + B to tack on a "Raise Derelict" effect), but it's still very much a beatdown card. Wonder if that means anything for BR?

From what I remember U/R Ensoul was actually pretty good. It had the nut draw where you just die, and without it they would tempo/burn you anyway.

So good that it got to the finals of the Pro Tour... and then proceeded to mulligan to three and then fold because without the nut draw the deck doesn't do anything.
It was a fad, a quirky underdog deck in the last days of a very diverse metagame. Such a thing can only be as good as it is unpopular, because if the deck is on anyone's radar, it's really simple to interact with and just shut down all its lines of play. It's gaining its tempo at the cost of a lot of card advantage, so it really only performed in game one on the play. I was fortunate in that I had seen it a lot by the time it became popular, so I knew exactly how to react to it when more than one person at my store started playing it, picking up a lot of free wins in the process. It's not a good deck in general; it was just a good meta call for a couple weeks.
This is an extra mana in a different color for what's essentially the same thing, so I doubt it will have legs.
Grixis Artifacts for standard could possibly be a thing this Standard thanks to this card. Lots of great targets for it like Ornithopter and Smuggler's Copter. U providing control and R providing burn and/or removal. With two lands that can potentially give any colored mana, I'd go so far as to build a UBRG, combining UR artifacts and GB delirium.

Right? I was just joking with some friends that at this pace, we will have the entire set later tonight.
