neat card. I especially like the art. NOT strictly better than other options like adaptive automaton, but reads as alot better because of the cost and possibilities with 1+/+1 counter shenanigans

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.

11:15, restate my assumptions: 1. Mathematics is the language of nature. 2. Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers. 3. If you graph these numbers, patterns emerge. Therefore: There are patterns everywhere in nature. - Maximillian Cohen.
Anyhow, the best I can come up with myself is a game in the top 8 of a PTQ back during Urza block in which we were starting game 3 with time already expired, so the tiebreaker rule was that whoever had more life after 3 turns would win. And I lost to... healing salve.
It fits in perfectly with Fabricate by choosing "servo", Thopters by choosing "thopter", and either GW or RW Humans by choosing "human". If you were really weird you could choose "spider" so that Ishkanah etb as a 4/6 alongside three 2/3 spider tokens.
What is the point of this clause "Metallic Mimic is the chosen type in addition to its other types."? Isn't it already all types via the Shapeshifter sub-type?
For flavor reasons and mana cost I refused to put automaton in my minotaurs tribal deck, but this I have to crack for, that CMC of 2 is perfect, helps the curve out.
Yup, this opens up other possible ways to build a company combo deck in modern. Name Goblin and profit. Not a huge difference for the current card pool afaik, but with the right amount of tutoring later on there is potential to want to revisit this as a way to eschew green and/or white from your lists.
Good for those decks that need a 2 mana lordship like Minotaurs or counters matter like Shamans, Warriors, Humans, Allies.
I can't see it in Elves, Merfolk, Eldrazi, or Slivers. The lists are already tightish, and more utility then lords matter.
Sadly for at least modern werewolves, I think they have better choices and the counters matter less as they are split between wolves, humans, and werewolves. It could have some value though in some of the utility spots, but it misses things like wolf tokens and Immerwolf. Rats on the hand don't really care for lords of this type I don't think as relentless rats would matter or more utility rats like more discard rats.
My bet is Shamans gets a little more power in a vial build. I am still looking into warriors and humans, but it could have some value in goblins and/or spirits for similar reasons to minotaurs. Cheap and out of bolt range.
Yup, if you name "servo" it'll produce as many 2/2 servos as you can afford.
Cheers!

I'm not so sure about this. As much as I would love for this to work and infinitely combo off with Cryptolith Rite, the Module says "whenever one or more +1/+1 counters are placed on a permanent you control" that reads, to me, as though it requires that you already must control that permanent and it must be on the battlefield and then have a counter placed on it.
Metallic Mimic says "each other creature you control of the chosen type enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it". That seems to me that Module won't trigger because the creature enters the battlefield with the counter already attached rather than seeing something you already have get a counter on it.

It works. Same way that Doubling Season makes your planeswalkers enter with double counters. "Enters the battlefield with [whatever] counters" counts as counters being "placed on".

But I do see it's potential as a budget merfolk card.
