Has Doom Blade finally been outclassed as Modern's premier kill spell? Of course, we still have Path to Exile, but dare I say that this gives it competition?

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
1.99 for the set with 3.99 shipping? Yeah, I bought all 8 playsets they had. If I can move the playsets for 10 dollars a pop I'll had made almost 70 dollars.
There's the legacy playable for the set. It will see extensive play there and if it doesn't I will be shocked. The synergy with fetchlands and wastelands is obvious.
Extensive play? What deck really wants it? A Disfigure replacement in Shardless makes sense (as mentioned earlier), but I don't really see the appeal elsewhere. Sultai Delver sideboard, maybe?
I like it. I'm running a couple of Disfigure in my Shardless BUG sideboard, and this can easily replace them. Thumbs up on the design, Wizards.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
This is great, and will be a semi staple in modern. Black has always lacked a good 1 mana instant kill spell, and this is the best one yet. It will make Sultai, BG, UB and mono-B more playable.

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
On MtgTop8, ~350 (mostly) Delver decks used either of Disfigure, Dismember, Murderous Cut, Terminate or Go for the Throat as a 1-2 of maindeck in 2016, out of 4150 decks in Legacy. It represents 8.5% of the performing decks, exactly half of the performing Delver decks (they represent 17% of the performances). Dismember was in the sideboard of 557 decks (13.5%). Disfigure in 378 decks (9.1%). Diabolic Edict in 82 decks (2%).
Obviously, certain removal spells are meant to deal with creatures Fatal Push can't kill, like TNN, Marit Lage, Smasher... However, it's interesting to see the stats and where decks might try some adjustments, either MD or SB.
The good points about it are:
1- it kills Nexus, Factory, Tarpit and TKS where Abrupt Decay fails.
2- it kills Decay targets for 1 less mana.
3- it kills Tarmo, Infect, Endless One where Dismember may fail.
4- it kills most Dismember targets for less mana and life.
5- it makes Disfigure completely obsolete.
6- it asks the question of 4C Delver, splashing Red exclusively for Bolt maindeck.
I like this a lot and I'm 99% sure it's going to see heavy standard play. Do you think it's modern-playable with fetches being a thing?
You must have missed the comment about a thousand merfolk crying out in pain. Also it's a one mana answer to Tarmogoyf no matter how big it has grown.

Hardly anybody plays Doom Blade in Modern, its not a 'premier' anything.
Morbid was fun, this should be as well for similar reasons, but also works with bouncing shenanigans. good stuff!

Any deck that is black that wants 1 cmc spot removal will max out on this before any other 1 cmc removal spell, that is obvious in legacy where basically every creature costs 4 or less. This kills deathrite, delver, and goyf. No other 1 cmc spell does that.

Not if that deck is white or red too. I don't think this is going to replace either Bolt or Swords since they're more versatile spells. Sultai is a legitimate place where this could land, but I'm skeptical of it elsewhere.
When I first saw this I thought it was the third best removal spell of all time. I still think it's in the top 5. The number of cards it can hits with no drawback is staggering. It doesn't exile, and it misses out on hitting a few high end creatures, but the ability to just trade a 1 mana card for a 4 mana card is bonkers.
Edit: also if you are playing frontier then you will appreciate the synergy with Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
Not having to gift a land like Path to Exile could be a distinct advantage as well. Glad I pre-ordered a playset at $8. Hope I can find another at that price.

Ehm... did you notice it's just an uncommon from a set which will be extensively printed and unpacked thanks to Standard, Limited and Invention-looters? I think the times of cash grab uncommons have long passed, fortunately. But maybe I'm wrong... I expect at least one copy in Tezzeret's deck though.
I hope for you that your investment earns you something in the long period, but trying to buy out the available copies of the card, thus inflating its starting price, imho is not one of the best aspects of MtG, so to say...
Okay, yes, great answer for Modern, obviously, probably also some of the better removal for Standard... but why are we paying $10 for playsets? It's an uncommon in a brand-new, heavily-printed set. It can't sustain a price of $2.50 once people start drafting Aether Revolt. Aether Hub would be our outlier for powerful Standard uncommon, because it's a land that goes in every deck, and that peaked at $4 during the Pro Tour and is only $2.50 now. It doesn't make any sense to hoard copies Fatal Push to make a profit unless you're maybe talking grabbing a bunch of foils for the long term. And even then I wouldn't pay preorder prices.
The only thing I'm saying hello to is the best damn removal printed since possibly abrupt decay, and it's just one black mana. This card hits everything in modern that matters. It hits everything in Standard that matters. It hits everything in frontier that matters. People in five years from now are probably going to be wondering why this got rarity shifted up to rare in a modern masters reprinting assuming that is still running in five years.

Guys, it will definitely break $20 a playset.......but not for several years.this set is going to be opened a ton, it has masterpieces that a ton of players will want. It already has multiple mythics that will see minimum heavy testing in Modern. It has rare lands that will see some post-rotation play. Look at the prices of even the good rares since BFZ, prices are not what they once were. It would be different if it were in AVR or a limited set, but for an in print uncommon, $3 has got to be the max, and not long term

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
What really sucks about this card is that the only place they could really reprint this in a set is a Masters set. The fact is that Revolt, from a flavor perspective, is super limiting. It's not Bushido limiting, but I doubt it's as easy to find a place to effectively have the Revolt mechanic from a flavor perspective. I love the mechanic and I think there's some really cool design space in it, but it'll be tough to reprint. So get them while they're widely available. I'm super thankful it's an uncommon, but a few years from now this card could get very expensive for an uncommon.
