Spicy cards! Whir of Invention is my favorite at the moment: I think it'll be good enough for Eggs in modern and maybe for a brew in Legacy. Instant speed and no sacrifice is nothing to sneeze at, compared to Transmute Artifact and there are playable artifacts that one can tap (Pithing Needle? Ensnaring Bridge) EoT for some interesting effects.

No -- since you are casting Eidolon without paying its mana cost, you can't use alternate costs like bestow.
Well that burst that idea. Regardless happy Sram says Aura, sense that makes it work well with all Equipment style Effects (or atleast the recent ones) including Bestow (aura on stack), Living Weapon (sense still Equipment), and Vehicle (because Vehicles are basically Aura/Equipment require another card to be worthwhile/attacker). Making it less painful to see those cards equip/crew/enchantment targets be removed. This is especially nice with Heron's Grace (Aura and Equipment are free) from Moon.
You can cast Chord of Calling for X though. This one you can't.
It's still a nice card but triple blue shouldn't be ignored as that part is not discountable.
there's that, but also there's all the clue tokens, servos, thopters, vehicles and all sorts of stuff you can tap to reduce X...
many of those are easier to keep in play than the creatures you'd need for Chord of Calling
not saying that the card is going to blow up the world or something, but it's great.
This looks like an interesting set. First reactions:
Dreadnought looks like a trap. In Limited it's such a longshot, and in Constructed you're going all in with something that will be hated out to oblivion the second it becomes popular. It's not as bad as Demolition Stomper, but it's still a heck of a lot to devote to a do-nothing artifact.
Whir looks great for EDH, but yeah, three blue is a lot.
I really like Sram because my cube happens to support both G/W enchantress and U/W artifacts, and another bear is always welcome.
Revolt looks really interesting for Limited. It encourages you to trade off creatures, but only when attacking, if you intend to play a creature and trigger revolt. So that could keep the format a little aggressive... now if there are good common instants that aren't sideboard material, that might be a good thing for slower decks.
I love love love Shipwreck Moray for Limited. 5 toughness on a four-drop is such a roadblock unless your opponent is really wide, and if they are you threaten to eat a token. Good stuff for a slower deck.
Ive been playing mardu tokens as a jank build in standard for a lil bit and sram's expertise might make it solidly tier 1.5-2. 3 servos and a lord? 3 servos and a fabricate 2 guy? Yes please!

I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Sram, Senior Edificer seems like it could be great both as a commander (in regular commander or Tiny Leaders) and in the 99 for any kind of voltron deck.
The Dreadnought along with the Colossus they revealed today really makes me want to brew a big vehicles deck. Throw in a couple Depala and Veteran Motorists, probably some Built to Smashes and Start Your Engines and it could be a lot of fun and very aggressive.
I just can't wait to see:

Sram would draw you a card if you cast an aura, including bestowing an eidolon. However, his "expertise" will not be able to cast the eidolon as a bestow since it's an alternative cost.
The blue Chord is interesting. It's definitely not on the same level as Chord due to the fact that Chord of Calling can reduce itself to 0 colored mana whereas this one requires the three blue to activate at all. The color devotion is likely there to stop people from playing it in a super color intensive shell. Good? Yes with a big caveat emptor tag strapped to the thing. Maybe a janky esper build? Servo Exhibition and Weaponcraft Enthusiast?

Greenbelt Rampager seems interesting. Outside Energy decks, 3/4 for G that you have to play 3 times before it sticks is... not the best, but decks that can abuse ETB triggers might have fun with it.
