Some real duds in there. Ornithopter in particular is a slap in the face to the players.

Lol at people slamming ornithopter. Why!? Card's amazing and has proper magic history. It's a classic!
This flavor text explains Ornithopter's inclusion. Totally called this one.
I might be more disappointed opening a Sundering Titan considering it is banned in the format of fancy foil cards. It will for sure win you some limited games though.
I agree with others on Mesmeric Orb's absence. Seems like an easy add.
Please DONT tell me this is our Christmas-gift ! im grateful, but how can one rejoice to Reprints, which are not affordable & not even T2-legal ?? Im utterly dissapointed
I am quite sure that the surprise was announced for 26th. We will see.

They have had a spoiler of some kind on Christmas for the last few years.
They should have something today, but it's seeming like this might be it as the day gets later and later.
For people asking for specifically flavored cards like Nevinyrral's Disk, if you haven't noticed, all Masterpieces have to fit on the plane of the set. Nevinyrral's Disk couldn't appear on Kaladesh because Nevinyrral was from Dominaria. It would make no vorthos sense.
Also, Masterpiece Ornithopter is amazing and I need twenty.

That Ornithopter masterpiece is the best WotC idea since the tap symbol creation.
I know, it's either the best Masterpiece out of them all or the worst depending on the perspective. Some would call this trolling.

Unless they decide to nonsense it up like they did with Rings of Brighthearth. Before its KLD Masterpiece printing, Brighthearth meant exactly one thing: it was a group of flamekin on Lorwyn. That didn't stop them from trying to reuse the name of something that had a very unique and specific meaning to now have a second meaning to satisfy their desire to reprint it on another plane (hey, these dwarves have hearths. And they might be bright.)

It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
And I was so convinced to see thorn of amethyst in this, but oh well, most of them see play in at least one format. I think the most beautiful thing about the aether revolt masterpieces is the art, I'm going to get that grindstone just because I love machinery and as such, those gears. A shame we're stuck with the reserved list, Kaladesh would be THE place for a metalworker masterpiece.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
My favorite art from all the masterpieces so far are the ones with more brightness to them or the high contrast ones like Crucible of Worlds. The foiling just looks amazing on them and it's one of the main reasons I'll probably eventually break down and buy one or two of these things. Platinum Angel is going to look insane with that color pallette.

Isn't just the copper border foil? I have a Painter's servant and onlythe border is foil not the image/art.

Funny thing you mention it, because you are actually right on that one. There's just something about the foiling on the card that makes the image pop more when I see them in store. They probably did some focus group testing and found the foiling on the image itself made it look tacky or cheap, which I tend to agree with as foiling a good piece of art messes with the colors of the image from certain angles.

European (Belgium-made) cards have only foil borders, US-made cards are all-foiled with double rainbow foiling process (FTV foiling) over the art.
That's what happened with Kaladesh (not with Zendikar) and Wizards never acknowledged it as either a mistake or a perk. Either way there are two variants of Kaladesh Masterpieces on the market giving collectors headaches. We shall see, if the same happens here.
Seriously? So the ones I've seen are the European versions? Out of curiousity, are the prices better in Europe than the US on these guys?

To clarify, they are not that different. I've seen both, and you have to take a closer look to tell them apart. The full foils are not comparable to FTV foils in appearance, the only similarity is that the foiling has a double rainbow style effect with multiple vertical lines that move when you angle the card. They are not super glossy and blindingly foily like FTV cards. Both EU and US masterpieces have borders that are glossy and very shiny/foily, and both have a matte surface on the rest of the card (the art and text box), but the US ones have a subtle foil effect on the matte parts as well, while the matte parts on EU cards are 100% non-foil. They both look very good and they are quite similar, so I wouldn't fret too much about which one I got for a 1-of in an EDH deck, for example, but they do cause headaches for people that want to get a matching playset, especially in (some parts of?) Europe where you get the EU/part foil ones from Kaladesh boosters and the US/full foil ones from those three card Showdown boosters.
To make matters more difficult, some online sellers think their full foil ones are the "least shiny" version, since they do have matte art/text surfaces and only pronounced foiling on the glossy borders, and most descriptions on the internet make the full foil ones sound like they look just like FTV cards. So if you buy online, you have to ask which one it is, and if they answer matte or part foil or something like that, it might still be the US full foil one because they think that the "shiniest version" is supposed to be a lot shinier and glossier all over. That happened to me, I asked the seller to make sure I got one with matte art (Verdurous Gearhulk) because from descriptions on the webz I thought the US ones would look just like the gaudy FTV foils with all glossy surface. The seller told me it had matte art, so I accepted, and I got what turned out to be a US one. Because the foiling on the matte parts of the US ones is so subtle, and the surface of the art/text box is actually matte, I didn't know I had a US full foil one until I saw an actual EU one with my own eyes, which was 100% non-foil on the matte parts. In the end I was happy I got a full foil after all, because the foiling on the matte parts is very tastefully done. But seeing as one might think that a full foil version is a non-full-foil version until you get to compare the two, it's no wonder there is so much confusion about these cards.
(Edit, please note: To avoid further confusion, let's make sure we never write "matte" when we mean "non-foil". When I write "matte" in this post, it correctly means "non-glossy".)
So...By your logic, if I opened a foil Demon of Dark Schemes that goes for less than 3 euro on mkm I should be happy because it was rare?
That is silly.
I don't know from conversion rates, but I have $5.01 US for a foil Demon according to MtGGoldfish, and I get $2.50 back from my store per pack if I just trade in my prize packs for credit rather than opening them. So, yeah, I'd be happy. I gambled and doubled my money. What else do you want?
When on average other masterpieces go for 25+ euro, peaking at over 65 I should be happy to have one that is worth less than 15?
You should be happy if you open a random pack of Magic cards, outside of a limited event, and end up with something worth significantly more than the unopened pack. At all. Why are you opening random packs of Magic in the first place, if not to gamble? It's weird to me that you could risk wasting your money and when you gain money, your response is "I didn't gain enough." My attitude is "hey, I didn't lose," but for this reason I just don't open random packs, so whatever. The point is, any Masterpiece is most likely a net gain, Ornithopter more so... because while I personally prefer the simplicity and elegance of the original-art Antiquities printing, I imagine there will be a lot of Affinity players who want to bling out their deck with bizarre copper monstrosities. You won't have any trouble finding a buyer for these.
Sure, you win more if you get a more in-demand masterpiece, but when you consider the rarity of these and the average value of an opened pack of Magic cards, I don't see what there is to complain about. You still won the lottery.
I wouldn't have minded if they replaced Duplicant with something else. It's very similar to Noxious Gearhulk in many ways. Lack of Gilded Lotus hurts a little. Staff of Nin and Nevinyrral's Disk are also EDH friendly, but probably couldn't make the cut just because they're "named." Spellskite would have been nice. It would also have been nice to include some representation for living weapons, like Batterskull.
As far the Aether Revolt artifacts, I am hoping to see vehicle artifacts.
