If he didn't have to tap to go off this would be legacy playable. ANT would run this and just be insane.
Hell, I might play with it in my board just because it's that good when your opponent has no removal. Recur all your lotus petals, that dual land that got wasteland'd, and you can activate it with LED and then your hand's right there in your graveyard to use. Absolutely incredible.

My god, what is this even? I've never ran Will in a deck, partially because I don't have one and partially because I feel it's just too OP. But hey, this guy is a creature. My opponent's have a turn to answer it, so it's fair, right? Love the callback to the orignal art there.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Wow, a Yamgmoth reference?! Why not another character from Theros or Tarkir? I thought the policy of this set was to add more commanders and card art from Theros and to completely forget the characters of old.
I'm not lucky enough for this to be in the artifact deck am I? I already want that for the Faeries for Lazav, and this is the other card (along with maybe Armory Automaton)spoiled so far that I really want to try out and being able to get them both in a single deck I can part out is much better than just picking them up as singles.
So after Magus of the Wheel, another spell magus. Wonder what the other three will be,and whether we are getting one each year ;-)
I'm kind off hoping they're making mega-cycles again. These products are a perfect place to make these kind of cards without warping modern and standard.
So what cards would make the cut?
And yeah, that art. That pose, the mask of pain. Simply lovely.

No, due to Clergy En-Vec and Pillar of Flame existing, you cannot have nice things.
I question how good a "Magus of the Force" would be.
1UU, 2/3, Tap Sac, Exile a blue card from your hand, counter target spell.
That doesn't seem terribly playable. Even if he didn't sac himself, his playability would be fairly low.
All Magus are identical to the cards they are referencing (ability wise), plus adding in a creature type and P/T, minus Magus of the Wheel which had a cost of 1R instead of 2R to use.
It would probably be more like....
Magus of the Force 3UU
Creature - Wizard (something)

You may exile a blue card from your hand instead of paying ~ mana cost.
When ~ comes into play counter target spell.
(0/2), (1/1), or (0/1)
Problem with my example is literally having 8 Force of Will in a deck and 4 of them being able to wield equipment and block/attack.
While this card is awesome, both in art and effect, it seems to indicate that Magus of the Void will not appear very soon, if at all, as it would also have to be black as well.

I think it absolutely is legacy playable. It's a decent sized body with a very powerful effect at a low mana cost. 3 is a lot more in legacy than other formats, but not terribly so.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.

Same here. I am not totally convinced he is not Legacy playable.
My biggest concern is that he needs to survive an upkeep, in a format where removal is efficient, readily available, and played in most decks. If you untap with him you're going to win, but untapping with him is far from a given - against the right deck absolutely, but in most cases he's only a legitimate threat after your opponent has cut all (or most) of his removal.

That's fair. Between swords/path/bolt he's got a lot of efficient stuff to live through. However, I have seen many Legacy games won by a single snapcaster who attacked for 6+ turns.
Obviously that's not ideal or the planned route to victory. I just think the effect attached on to him makes this Magus a "real" card in that format.

Yeah thats right. But Legacy is also the format with quiet efficient counters too. We will see. Now the question is what deck might want to try him out. Probably ANT. But something else?
Truth be told, any storm deck that plays black (ANT, TES, DDFT, Spanish Inquisition) would love this effect. They're already playing the fast mana, and the effect is just so rediculously GOOD that it's really hard to say no.
I'm not sure it'll replace Past in Flames in most lists, but it certainly deserves testing.
