Seems like a good partner for Silas. You can go artifact Voltron, pack in some equipment that grants evasion, use Akiri for the damage and Silas to recur it when it becomes necessary. Though I wish there'd been a more traditional artificer partner for him because I like his recursion ability, but Voltron isn't the most exciting strategy to me.
A difficult wall to break in combat, with first strike and vigilance. However, this is yet another combat oriented Boros, I am growing impatient with Wizards' lack of dare. They have a more "physical" Izzet general with Kraum, Ludevic's Opus, yet they didn't even bother to try a Boros general outside of combat. >_>
There are four tribes that I can think of that are white and care about artifacts. Dwarfs, Kor, Mirrodin Humans, and Mirrodin Cats. So this card could have fit in any of them really, but fabricate does have nice synergy with this card so being a Dwarf would have been a small advantage but oh well.
I really like this card as a non legendary creature. First strike and Vigilance guarantee that it will win every combat and she allows you to attack while not leaving yourself open. The artifacts matter theme is cool too as it encourages you to build around it with equipment, and artifact tokens.
As a legendary it is disappointing as this is yet another Boros commander that only cares about attacking. It doesn't provide card advantage or explore new deck building in red white either. I just don't understand why Wizards refuses to print any innovative cards for this color pair that is starved of quality commanders.
So it has the Nim creature ability from Mirrodin (like Nim Lasher and like 7-8 other cards with black on them)? That's weird, but I guess they are shoving artifacts at red pretty hard, so that's cool.

You don't have to be voltron. She can easily just be a solid defensive body/wincon to support Silas's gameplan and contribute colors.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
I hate to say this, but this is a really boring card. Other than being an Ally and having the Partner mechanic, nothing about Akiri screams support. Sure, I guess a X/3 first-striker is a good deterrent and therefore its supporting as a bodyguard... I know not every card has to be supportive, but I had higher expectation of all those cards with Partner to actually have more obvious/effective support/strategies.
Still waiting for the day when they make a RW legend that's actually interesting...
At this point, WotC has staked out their position and is fiercely defending it. "You want interesting? Go play GU or something! RW about smash! RW deal combat damage!"
It depends on who I can partner her with and what other cards are available to be used. She is cheap and a bear, that enough is fair to consider her to side her with another Commander. She's an early aggressive creature in an artifact deck that is recastable and works with other Allies.
I dislike the art, and will probably at some point have it altered or something.

Life is a beautiful engineer, yet a brutal scientist.
You can put her into a voltron shell with a bunch of cheap artifacts and equipment. She does fit the deck's artifact theme. I just wish she played around with the graveyard, since white and red interact with artifacts from it a lot recently.
See, the problem here is, while the setup is fine (play a bunch of artifacts! That hasn't been done in rw before...oh wait) the payoff is so lackluster and boring that it doesn't matter. Artifact synergy for a RW legend would have been ok, (although I would have preferred equipment specifically given that 1) blue has always been the primary artifact-synergizing color, and 2) white rarely has synergy with artifact straight-up and has tons of synergy with equipment specifically, and 3) hasn't been done before) but you have to make the payoff interesting!
I mean, at this point maybe I should just give up on ever using sunforger again.
