Oath is a solid card, but it's nowhere near that valuable.

Because it backfires all the time, but it is more fun than you could possibly deserve to have in one little piece of cardboard. Oath of Druids is always a wild fun ride. It's almost certainly in the non-white Chaos-based deck.
This makes me want to have a crack at building a newer version of the old creatureless Oath/YawgWin deck that milled a whole bunch of Rituals and a Drain Life away and then recast it all FTW. Could do it in red these days with Past in Flames...

Interesting, Oath of Druid is definitely more consistent in a 60 cards deck, to see it here makes me wonder what scheme is at work...

It's a $4 card that's horrible in commander. Like, incredibad. Bad beyond all reason. I would rather play one with nothing. I'd rather play break open. I'd rather play wood elemental.

I guess we had to have one group hug deck. May as well get it over with. Here's hoping some of the partner legends are salvagable, and that we never get another group hug deck ever again.

Wow, that's an .... unfortunate..... wording. Talk about counter-intuitive. That much text on a card normally makes a person want to skim it for a second, give up, and toss the card aside.
But hey, it's Oath of Druids, it can be fun and playable! Not that it's going for more than $5 lately. And with reprint, that's going way down.

This was not in any way a needed reprint. It sees no play in EDH, it`s banned in Legacy. It`s a Vintage staple, sure, but to quote SaffronOlive:

if you have $19,480 saved towards purchasing Vintage Oath but couldn't find the last $20, this reprinting could help

But hey, it`s a fun card, and if it works in the deck it`s in, I`m all for it. This could be a cool inclusion. Just don`t celebrate it as a value reprint, because that makes no sense.

Could be, I suppose. But I'm going off the Chaos deck's description including the words "flipping things off the top of the deck" - Oath certainly fits that bill pretty well.

missed opportunity for errata to simpler wording.

"At the beginning of each players upkeep if another player controls more creatures than that player, he or she may reveal cards from the top of his or her library until he or she reveals a creature card. If he or she does, that player puts that card onto the battlefield and all other cards revealed this way into his or her graveyard."

Great reprint tho

Our tricksy Phelddagrif deck runs it. It's obviously a huggy card, but it doesn't break the game in half nearly as much as something like a Mana Flare would. A lot of the times, small utility dudes are flipped off this and that's that. Not a bad include for the hug or chaos deck.

Is this an inappropriate time to tell you that I currently run an oath of druids in my group hug deck?

God forbid other people like playing deck types that you don't.

On-topic, happy to see it. I've been meaning to pick one up for my Atarka, World Render deck, it doesn't typically flood the board with creatures quickly, so I can definitely get some free dragons out of the equation.

Idiotic Specter,

At each player's upkeep, they choose an opponent with more creatures than them.
Then the player MAY reveal cards from the top of their library until they hit a creature
Put the creature into play, everything else revealed into the graveyard

I'm pretty sure the confusing part was that the player has to choose another player who has more creatures than them as if the effect was going to involve that player in some other way but then it doesn't.

This came from an era of terrible wording but it should still read: "During each player's upkeep, if an opponent controls more creatures than they do, etc."
