I hope "gigantic pile of basic landcycling" isn't their primary solution to the terrible manabase.
"When the full decklists become available, you may notice that we did some unusual things with the mana bases. We normally don't put rare dual lands in Commander preconstructed decks. We prefer to put those types of cards into products intended for a wider audience, such as our main booster releases or Masters products. We knew that four-color decks presented a special challenge for getting access to all of your colors of mana, so we spent some time identifying rare dual lands that we didn't think we'd want to put into booster packs in the near future. We put a few of those cards into the Commander 2016 decks to help the decks run smoothly."
I'm guessing perhaps M10-style checklands, as sprinkling in a few $2-$7 duals (which haven't been reprinted en masse for awhile) wouldn't crush the EV, or perhaps Theros Temples, because they are cheap and a 4 color deck can def make use of scrying. They could even include literally EVERY Temple applicable to the deck, because they top out at $2.50, and go down all the way to .75.
I didn't think I would say this, but Atraxa makes sense in those colors. It's mainly the lore that gives it strength. I hope that they jam infect goodstuff into that deck, but it will probably just be all kinds of counters shenanigans.

This set looks incredible. I love the flavor and mechanical callbacks. I want to play Sidar Kondo just for the flanking and the Mirage nostalgia. Partner looks like a cool idea. I just hope they use it again instead of having it as a one-off for this year.

I liked the one "true" 4-color general they showed off. I find Partner extremely lackluster, however. I would have much rather seen either more "true" 4-color generals or some generals with off-color activated abilities.
I do like the land cyclers, though, and one of the Mothership articles (I forgot which) specifically mentions they put some rare dual lands in the mana bases but didn't specify which beyond "ones we're unlikely to put in boosters soon". I'm hoping for the good cycle of filter lands from Lorywn, but knowing WotC it will almost certainly be the bad ones from Odyssey.
Partner is definitely great design as it allows you to build 3 or 4 color decks, maybe 2 if there are multiples of two color combos.
Praetor Angel seems pretty good, not all that inspired, but pretty good. I still hope for a new cycle of Nephilim as well.
Basic landcycling coming back here makes sense and so far the cards with them are decent to strong so far, which is always a nice bonus.
I love when new cards have old mechanics on them. I don't know the character, but I just love when something like Flanking returns on a single card, just to show that WoTC hasn't completely forgotten about those abilities. I wish they would do that more often, especially with those that were replaced with "better" versions, like Fear and Shroud.
So far C16 is looking quite nice. I don't want to jinx it, but this could show that the Commander series is one of their last long running great products. Of course we'll have to see the decks, but for now the new cards will suffice and I'll make a better judgment then. About the only thing I don't like is the set symbol, no real reason, I'm just not a fan.
I knew I was going to make a Superfriends deck with one of the four color commanders; I'd already used 5 color for Allies. I knew Superfriends needs to have green for Doubling Season. And the Wizards goes and prints Atraxa, and I know which color combination the deck is going to be.
I like Ludevic's creation, an Aggro UR general that isn't just a combo piece. Moving away from the Status Quo, I like it. Gives me a good reason to finally play Mindwrack Liege. Maybe.
Gotta be honest, I'm a little bit afraid that the different 4C combos will enable too much "goodstuff" decks (which I'm not really a fan of). But as long as they keep the power level of the partners down, it should be fine...
Neat. I am not really sold on Atraxa, but thats fine plenty of other goodies that I see getting homes. Sidor Kondor and Sylvan Reclemation will get a home in my Sigarda human tribal. Grave Upheavel will be nice for my Olivia vampire's deck.
Btw for vorthos people. What Plane are the legendaries from. Atraxa is from New Phyrexia and Kraum is from Innistrad. I think, but could be wrong, that Silas Renn is from Alara/Esper but I am not sure on Sidor Kondor or Bruse Tarl.
Its not strictly better, monowhite decks can't run it it has to be WG, it also costs one more.
I apologize, I thought it was the same cost. In that case it is not, but if it were the same cost, it would be, outside of the color identity. That's neither here nor there.
One of the characters that players have been clamoring to have as a card is Ludevic, one of the mad scientists from Innistrad. Ludevic is getting printed in Commander (2016 Edition) as a blue-red legendary creature. He's not my preview card today (we're saving him to preview later this week), so instead I'm going to introduce you all to Kraum, Ludevic's favorite creation. His opus, if you wil

I don't like partner at all. It feels like cheating on the spirit of the format to me. It also gives players with partner decks extra versatility and card advantage at no cost.

That 1 mana is a lot of difference when it comes to Sunforger though (I recalled this in particular because Sylvan Reclamation had me thinking which deck I had placed my Return to Dust in and I immediately remembered my Sunforger package), even if we put aside color identity (since I assume it'll be W instead of G if we did so).
Partner is such a damn lazy mechanic. Oh we didn't want to actually come up with more 4 color cards, we just wanted you to pair the RW partner card with the UB partner card or something. Not to mention, will it be a recurring theme each year/more commanders with partner will be printed because if not then you can only have a pair of commanders from just this years' decks.

I'm guessing from the ally type and Pillarfield ox in the background, Bruse is from Zendikar. Sidar Kondo is from Jamuura and is Vuel/Volrath's father and Gerrard's adoptive father.
