This is my first time posting on MTG Salvation, so please let me know if this post doesn't follow community conduct.
Mark Rosewater's tumblr posted a link to a preview of the Kaladesh Art Book today, and I am not sure what to make of a particular image in this preview.
According to the credits below the image, it depicts an individual named "Dal Jeat, Aether Engineer", with art by Victor Adame Minguez. This looked like a legendary creature to me, and not one of the ones from the Kaladesh set. After Google and Gatherer searching, the closest resembling name I could find was in the flavor text for the Kaladesh Inventions version of Champion's Helm:
"Adi Thandray designed this helm as a tribute to his mentor, the great Daljit Gavaskar."
Is it possible that Dal Jeat and Daljit are the same individual, with a possible spelling miscommunication between the flavor text and art book teams? Either way, is it reasonable to expect that the individual in the preview image would have a legendary creature card in Aether Revolt? I'm not sure how reliable the Art Books are for information about the card game.
Remember that in the kaladesh website there are references to common and uncommons as inventors, but they weren't legendary even though they had some bio information and a name.
I disagree. The art books are labeled very clearly, so I don't see why they credit him as "Dal Jeat, Aether Engineer" if that wasn't the name of the art. In the Innistrad art book, when they used other cards art work to "illustrate" character they always used the name of the card and not the character. If that was generic art it would have just said "Kaladesh inventor" or "Art for Magic duels".

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
No, but I believe wizards reveled them officially before the art book had released.

I hope you're right. Maybe Wizards is making a UR artificier legendary, and they don't want to reveal it too soon. This guy looks like he could be it.

DECKS:
Commander:
Aurelia the Warleader - Combat Tricks and Swarm
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic - Lifegain/Lifedrain Pillowfort
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice - Token Assault
Meren of Clan Nel Toth - Reanimator Value
Mizzix - Out of the Box Spellslinger
He is from magic duels but I always liked that art and have used it as my avatar many times. Maybe they are going to utilize more art not used on cards.
Unless Mark Rosewater is intentionally deceiving his tumblr followers, I unfortunately don't think there will be a UR legendary artificer in the Kaladesh block, but there will be one eventually. Here are some posts regarding the UR legendary artificer:
November 6, 2015
nathanielthethird asked: "Hey Mark, I love the new commander stuff. I am very pumped, but I know a lot of people were hoping for a R/U commander that focused around artifacts. While Mizzix is awesome, what do you think that chances of a R/U artificer are?"
"I am sure we will make it one day. It’s one of those things that we’ve never purposely avoided but has just fallen through the cracks."
November 10, 2015
thornthallid asked: "With the recent talk of a UR artifact matters legend, do you have any insight as to why Jhoira (a gifted artificer) isn't that legend? Why did she get a seemingly unrelated ability involving suspend?"
"That was an example of us finding a place to use an existing card and match creatures be to it. I agree it wasn’t a wonderful fit."
November 20, 2015
horusiswatching asked: "If/when: Legendary UR artificer (or, generally speaking, that deals with artifacts)"
"When."
June 23, 2016
trensch1 asked: "So I know you've asked that if we request a legendary to explain what we want. So I was wondering if maybe we could have a legendary Red Blue Artificer. I love red blue artifacts but don't have a commander for to mix them effectively. Maybe combining Muzzio's revel and search with Darreti's sacrifice effect."
"I get this request quite often."
September 13, 2016
atcmdtower asked: "I was saddened to see that Padeem, Consul of Innovation was mono U when there are so many non legendaries that are UR that care about artifacts. Why wasn't this card UR or UW or U anything?"
"Kaladesh is not a multicolor set so it doesn’t have an excess of multicolor cards."
September 15, 2016
swmystery27 asked: "'We don’t reference Commander outside of the Commander product.' Interesting. Why? It seems like it would solve a few problems (eg UR Artificer) and be a great way to introduce people to the format."
"When players see something referenced that isn’t for them, they tend to write off the whole card as not being for them."
October 17, 2016
lordofgeeks asked: "RE: No UR Artificer Commander from Kaladesh block. I understand the "not enough space, can't pander to specific subgroup" argument, but as someone who has wanted to build this deck for approaching two years, this is really starting to feel like the lack of a Damnation reprint in that the same argument was brought up for the next most obvious set, C15. Putting that aside, what's the difference between this situation and the one with Arlinn Kord/Ulrich? Why could that work and not here?"
"The absence of a legendary Werewolf in Innistrad block, allowed the voice for players who wanted a legendary Werewolf to focus all at the same time and be loud.
"The desire for a U/R artificer didn’t reach that level of volume until we announced Kaladesh which was too late for us to react to it."
October 18, 2016
gophilipbowles asked: "Given the UR legend discussion, in retrospect do you think it would have been better if you'd waited longer between Origins and Kaladesh? This was a rare opportunity to 'preview' a plane to see what people liked. By not giving yourselves time to get feedback it seems that a lot of the opportunities this provided - the UR Limited archetype, Thopters as a prominent feature, the UR legend, and reprints of popular, safe cards (any of Spy Network, Foundry of the Consuls, Hangarback) - were missed."
"Time wouldn’t have changed that much."
October 18, 2016
randomita asked: "Say you found out about the desire for a U/R artificer legend today. What is the soonest we would potentially see or print?"
"If the stars aligned and the right hole opened up in the set at the tail end of development, maybe 9 months. To make a specific card from scratch without needing the stars to align, probably eighteen months to two years."
Also, just today:
dace67 asked: "First G/R Werewolves and now U/R Artifacts. Both seem pretty egregious examples of not understanding what Commander players want. U/R artifacts seems worse as there was an outcry after Origins, another one after Commander 2015, and only now that you've missed the mark a third time, you guys seem to understand. I know there a lot of moving parts, but it's disappointing, you know?"
"That’s why it’s importantly people bluntly tell me what they want. I understand 'players were talking' at various times in the past but *not to me*.
"I’m not omniscient. I do take great efforts to communicate with the players, but I don’t automatically know everything. And, lots of people individually tell me they want something, but it’s only when many players tell me that I realize the size of the interest."
They will likely pull something similar with UR artificers this block. Saheeli Rai was the Planeswalker support,
and the Legend will likely be in AER.
Just don't get your hopes up too high.
Ulrich (and Ishkanah, Grafwidow) were answers to specific requests,
but they are not exactly the cards most people wanted.

Another possibility that occurred to me is that Dal Jeat may be a "Notable Citizen" for the Aether Revolt set, such as are seen on the Kaladesh page on the Magic homepage (follow the "Notable Citizens" link on magic.wizards.com/en/home/kaladesh). As far as I can understand, these are named individuals with non-legendary cards: Eshan Bhat portrayed in Harnessed Lightning, Pihu Laal portrayed in Aviary Mechanic, Tiyu Arrun portrayed in Nimble Innovator, Ranbir portrayed in Weaponcraft Enthusiast, Ira Joshi portrayed in Ovalchase Daredevil, and Himmat Neela portrayed in Highspire Artisan.
Thoughts? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Last block, they did the double fan-service of Arlinn Kord and Ulrich of the Krallenhorde.
