I am trying to get better at making decks. I have had trouble creating more competitive decks as I only really build with the cards I have. I dont have that many value cards, in function or expense. I (almost) never play at FNM type events so its not like im playing against $2k decks. If I do usally play at one, Its a draft or limited game. Any advice on building decks is greatly supported! DMs are appreciated.

These look great, and are awesome choices for promos. How badly did Zur need new art? Am I right? The old one is just ugly as sin.
I`m torn between the old and new Defense. This new one is so much prettier, but all the nostalgic feelings the old one brings out... I have a beat up copy that I cracked in my early teens.

You should also notice that tons of those were given at judge conferences all over the world. While those seems to be from the lackluster 'tag-a-friend' Exemplar Program.
And the other one I don't even know that card. Must have been printed before my time.
I don`t think it`s ever played outside EDH, but it`s a staple there. You`re running some huge fatties anyway because it`s a big mana format, and if you`re playing three or four opponents, one of them are bound 2 have three or more creatures sooner or later. Also, if you`re playing green, you`re playing Tooth and Nail, which again means that you already have two targets in mind.
A lot of Judge promos have been EDH cards lately.

As for the Defense, what are those supposed to be? Elementals? Elves with really weird helmets? Heralds of things yet to come?
I think they're elementals or "saplings" of that tree. they can't be elves, look at their chest - there are holes specificaly made for the same gem as is in the centre of the tree
Yeah, haven't noticed that. Upon closer inspection, they have wooden heads, with glowing green eyes. Definitely humanoid elementals.

I think they're elementals or "saplings" of that tree. they can't be elves, look at their chest - there are holes specificaly made for the same gem as is in the centre of the tree
