Erg, they better also have non-foil versions of the cards available. It's annoying enough how many cool alternate art promos are only available in foil.

So because some people don't like foils they should be required to print everything in non-foil?
That makes sense, because they do the same thing for the foil lovers with all the new other cards in the commander sets by making them available in foil IN addition to non-foil.. Oh wait..
it's kinda funny how the tables have turned and now all of these people who don't like foils are suddenly feeling the pain that all of the foil lovers have felt over ALL of the previous commander releases.
I would hope that the four foils are all 4-color commanders. Especially since this is meant to, in part, introduce people to commander. A lot of "feels bad" headed our way if there are say, two 4-color and two 2-color commanders, and someone tries to make the 2-color commander the commander of the deck.
"My commander is WU dude!"
"Sorry, he can't command your WUBR deck!"
"But he was one of the foil commanders in the deck!"

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Its almost as if that scenario was one sentence away from being fixed...

The "co-commanders" idea it's intresting but i doubt that we will get something similar as it would be too complex for new players, just imagine one thing: the two commanders would be counted as one card or as two? (99 + 2 or 98 + 2).

I don't think Commander is supposed to be an entry level product. Besides, the rules inserts will exist. Not to mention that the confusion is pretty easy to clear up.

They've already printed legends you can't use as your commander for these before anyways, I don't see why it would be a big deal now. One of my secret but foolish hopes for this product is that one of the off-color legendary creatures is a U/R 'artifacts matter' creature that people have been asking for. I'm not necessarily expecting it (and won't be disappointed if it's not in, I suppose), but I also think that the idea of off color legendaries isn't that much of a stretch, especially since these usually have 3 legendary cards on color. The new 4th foil creature just screams off color to me, I suppose.

If Commander is for "new" players then what magic sets are for experienced players? I guess we just don't get any then.
Sealed decks are for "new" players, because they are an entry product for whatever format they are build for. Precon commanders are used to get to play new players to commander and also to make some cards that enfrachised players would like. Take a look on the new "Planeswalker decks" they are for new players, "precon commander decks" are similar but as the format is different they contain a different selection of cards (more rares, exclusive cards and a different power level). The only preconstructed decks that weren't for new players were the "tournament-ready decks" (or whatever they were called).
So let me repeat myself another time: Commander (the format) is not for new players (I don't think a new player should start from this format to play magic) while "preconstructed commander decks" are used to get players who know magic to play another format, in this case commander.
And to answer your question magic set are not just for beginner or experienced players as they are not a format, they create formats when they are used together (stadard, modern, ...) so both a beginner and an experienced player coud get a booster pack.

I am trying to get better at making decks. I have had trouble creating more competitive decks as I only really build with the cards I have. I dont have that many value cards, in function or expense. I (almost) never play at FNM type events so its not like im playing against $2k decks. If I do usally play at one, Its a draft or limited game. Any advice on building decks is greatly supported! DMs are appreciated.
Thank you!
To put it more simply, it's like saying, "I can prove Jesus is real and loves you. See? Here's my Hispanic friend Jesus. He's had a crush on you for a long time. Tell em' Jesus."

Non-foil is the default version of cards. I don't mind a bit if they print everything in foil too for anyone who wants them, but cards should be available in the default format. Besides, half the point of foil is that it makes it more valuable and rare. If every printing of a card is foil, doesn't that just make it boring?
Plus it'd be obnoxious as hell that, if you want to play one of the new commanders with, say, any cards from the reserved list, you will inescapably have a deck with both foils and non-foils in it. Eugh.

Wouldn't it solve the problem if the deck contained 1 random foil in addition to the 4 regular copies. That would give foil players something easier to get than a judge promo that isn't even released for a year and it might increase sales as some people might buy a could just to get the foil they want. It would make the foil even slightly more valuable and interesting than knowing each copy of the card is foiled.

True, but the face cards have always been possible of commanding their deck, even when there were three. If they are calling attention to these four cards as commanders, they need to be able to be the commander for that particular deck.

All of the legends being foiled is new for this edition too, though. If there are new 2/3 color legends in the deck that are exclusive to this product, then I don't think it's too unreasonable for those to be foiled too.
I hope personally that we get some interesting cards that may replace other cards that we have been waiting for reprints for. For instance instead of Damnation we get something like:
Wrath of the Damned 2WB
Destroy all creatures they cannot be regenerated.
Just so we can have some of the fun of the missing reprints.
Maybe make it cost WBR or something and add some sort of damage clause just so we can outclass Damnation and not effect Modern.
I don't think you could get all 4 colors into it without it seeming like a crazy mess of a card though.

You wouldn't need to worry about it affecting Modern... New cards in Commander sets aren't Modern legal. They're Legacy legal. Same with any new supplemental products that have new cards. Only cards that have been legal in standard can ever be Modern legal, barring any rules changes.

I know this was just purely hypothetical, but i must say that doesn't do a good job of "replacing" Damnation at all. IMO, the allure of Damnation is that it lets you play *** without playing white. The above suggestion doesn't do that at all. It even takes it one step in the opposite direction, as now you not only have to be playing white but black as well. If I'm already playing white, I'll just play *** (of course, ignoring for sake of argument the fact that in Commander you would likely want to play both anyways).
I really hope that at least face cards will be shown earlier
Thats actually not that long from now. Spoiler season usually lasts a month. This one will last roughly two weeks (Rosewater has also said this on blogatog).
Edit: Since it is a non standard set or a non major release like masters, it only gets a bit of time devoted to it.
