Welp, this might make the pre-release weekend awkward.
ehhh.... Everyone uses dice. I doubt anyone is going to have an awkward experience because they don't have a proper energy counter. If the print run was missing a Servo token then it would be awkward.

I still maintain that all counters should be represented by things other than dice. Popcorn kernels, coins, little rolled up pieces of paper, matches etc. For the rustic and authentic gaming experience.

A dice on top of an energy token is what I wanted to use. That's what I use for clues and infect, for example.
I took the image they put up resized it fit 3 pairs on an A4, cut them out and laminated them and they look pretty good, stick a D20 on there and were covered.
How big is a print run? Is there a way to know if a box is from the first print run?
IIRC, when original Zendikar hit the shelves and there was a temporary shortage here, the second printrun & replenishment arrived sometimes around end of October/half of November...

Clues are actual objects: Artifact tokens, not counters.

This made me smile. I insisted on using coins for the longest time.

Many weeks will pass before a second print run will enter the market. Whatever you'll buy after the release for at least a month will be first print run, probably even more unless people start cracking packs like mad.
About the topic: as I already pointed out in the other thread, I think it's one of the biggest failures of R&D in years. Shame on whoever is responsible for this. It's obvious that every enfranchised player doesn't care about it too much, because this kind of counters are useless for us, but I expect at Prereleases less experienced people will look after Energy counters, and not finding them isn't exactly a good example of relashionship with the audience.
Personally, I think BFZ made worse mistakes than this.
I don't think there's much to be said about this. Mistake was made, some inconvenience will be had, internal WotC consequences will occur, and the world will move on much the same. I've got more important things to worry about.
Pokemon lightning energy cards can be purchased for about 10 cents each, or I'm sure most of you have a few laying around somewhere. They are a more colorful alternative until the tokens are printed.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Better make my own then. Hmm, where did I put that Darh Sidious poster?

Oh my! What will my LGS do when their players don't have energy counters in packs? I guess they will have to print out some and distribute them during pre-release. I hope the large quantity of printing they will need to do doesn't bankrupt them.
Seriously though, it is good they let us know. I'm sure it won't be much of a big deal. I've played infect for years without ever having a single poison counter. I just use a dice or in tournaments, I keep track of them on a note pad next to the player's life. This will be no different.

RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.
Love that we get to do a little arts & crafts by printing and cutting these out, so sweet.
Already printed a bunch, may print more just for kicks. What a time to be alive and playing Magic.

In short - the first run of Kaladesh will not have energy counters in boosters, because of printing error.
Subsequent printruns will have them.

I can see people using the ad side of tokens for energy until the real ones arrive.
