Fumigate?? REALLY? After Wrath of God, Supreme Veredict and last but not least the fearsome Descend upon the Sinful the new white board sweeper is called FUMIGATE, complete with a thopter spraying insecti...gremlicide, looks like something out of an Un set. Good thing the card kicks ass, this is a brutal punishment for the go-wide Thopter decks that we all know are going to be played. I'd love to see this replace Planar Outburst in Magic Duels but I doubt it =)
The only thing I want now is a good instant speed draw effect. I've been making due with Scour the Laboratory in my post-rotation testing, but having it sometimes cost 6 is painful. I'd love a a "big" version of artificer's epiphany (something like: 4UU-instant. Draw four cards, then discard a card unless you control an artefact") or an energy draw spell (spend any amount of energy: for each EE spent this way, draw a card). I think both would push the blue puzzle-knot into highly playable status.
When Wizards said that they were going to switch from 4-mana wraths to conditional 3-mana wraths and unconditional 5-mana wraths with upsides, this was the kind of card I expected. It might not be a 4-mana wrath, but it is still a strong card.
Really don't like Fulmigate. It's the same kind of "here's a control card, now shut up" effect Sphinx's Revelation was. I wouldn't be surprised to see it cause about the same amount of problems.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. The things that made sphinx's rev busted were as follows:
1. It could draw you into more sphinx's rev, creating a never ending cycle of life gain and card advantage.
2. Didn't matter what your opponent was up to... you drew a bunch of cards and gained life.
3. It was an instant. Oh, nothing I need to counter on your turn? Draw 4, gain 4.
This card has none of that.
Don't get me wrong, this is a good card and is very likely to see play, but it won't be problematic for standard at all.
I'm not that fond of 5 mana wraths but this one is pretty well designed and has an upside that's actually relevant. It helps control decks to endure some beating in the early game a little better and it helps to recoup that life loss when clearing the board. I also like the new tokens, beautiful art direction once again. Nissas face however, eeeh, it looks pretty derpy, not a fan of that art.
I'm also pretty stoked for the etherborn. Seing cards like this makes me so happy, because I can finally give black good artifact synergies for my artifact cube. Might also be usable in some constructed decks, sacrificing a servo for a counter and indestructiblity ain't bad.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
If you see White, you're not gonna just insta play Fumigate, unless you don't know how to play Magic well. Avacyn is the most predictable thing now, and with Dromoka's Command rotating, no shenanigans to avoid Stasis Snare.

"The essence of every world, every spell and every thought is power. Nothing else matters, because nothing else exists."
Fumigate looks underwhelming to say the least. It's expensive to cast and unreliable in format where things like Selfless Spirit see play and the expected life gain is like 3 maybe? Whoopdedoo.
This is a nice twist on the wrath variants they've been pushing. Sometimes it feels like a 5 mana wrath is too expensive and too late, well, gaining 2 or 3 life is a substantial upgrade from that.
Really don't like Fulmigate. It's the same kind of "here's a control card, now shut up" effect Sphinx's Revelation was. I wouldn't be surprised to see it cause about the same amount of problems.
I also thought of SphinxRev when I saw this.
Realistically though, in Standard it's unlikely to gain more than 5ish life,
and it won't draw anything, so I doubt it will be anywhere near as good.

That board wipe is my kind of card. I'm a sucker for life gain already, so combining that with a wrath really gets me excited. Guess I found a new card for Karlov.
To be fair, one Sphinx's Revelation typically generated 3-4 life, not 6, so this card will probably gain you as much or more life. That's not the issue. The biggest difference is that Rev tacked on life to card advantage, which is always good, while this is still just a wrath. The problem (best part about, whatever) with Rev was you gained 3-4 life on the end of your opponent's turn and DREW Supreme Verdict. It dug you out of almost any situation (especially along with Jace, Architect of Thought). This gets you out of ONE situation--low life, staring down a bunch of creatures.
The fact that white has other solid answers to Spirit and Avacyn matters, but how much remains to be seen. What matters most is on your turn 5 when you need to wrath and they have 5 mana open, there will be times you just have to pray to not get blown out. If there is a U/W/x control build, my guess is it will have to play at least one Descend upon the Sinful.
Syndicate Trafficker is insane. I have no idea why no one is saying this and talking about him.
Because black aggro players are weary of having their dreams crushed and just assume it's not going to work out, no matter how good it looks?
I mean, it looks good.
agreed, if standard has taught me anything for the last months, then that it's best to buy all green rares and mythics a million times and look what happens.

Fumigate - Name is terrible and doesn't describe what's going on. Balance is fair.
Trafficker - There was a time black didn't get 3/1 vanillas for 1B. I'm okay with them getting them now - why not, red gets 2/2 for 1R and white gets 3/1s with upside for 1W. But did you NEED to make it use indestrutible? Was there NO OTHER MECHANIC that would better fit on a trafficker? Really?

So... to Fumigate your appartment is more powerful than the actual Wrath of God?
I really like that Kaladesh is not all about apocalypses and wars, but the flavor definitely feels shy of the effect here. Oh well, it's a fantastic card that has been on the way since Hellfire.

God's a little more efficient, but you schedule the fumigation, and feel a little better about moving back in when it's finished.
Syndicate Trafficker is perfectly designed to go with Scrapheap Scrounger and I am building BG Delirium with these two cards as soon as rotation happens. Holy crap.
Den Protector's absence will be felt, but Scrounger being an artifact creature also helps Delirium a ton.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

Without Dromoka's Command around, stasis snare safely answers all those threats at instant speed

seems bad vs Vehicles as well

Thank you, I knew an inverse had been printed recently *somewhere*.
I like the new one a lot better, and not just because it costs less.
