I'm also not sure why anyone would dislike this though. Regular versions of the cards for the set will exist anyway. This will also be a way for them to throw reprints into the set that they otherwise wouldn't print in standard. It will also push for more packs to be opened which should increase availability of cards across the board and decrease prices.

This is only a negative if they treat the expeditions as a sufficient means in and of itself on increasing the number of reprints for non-rotating formats. Otherwise it is basically all upside.
(Except for the 'Keeping Up With the Jones' principle of people being less happy when they're made comparatively worse off when someone else opens one and you don't.)
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
I dont mind the "super mythic" but I honestly wish we had more just solid cards and less stupid expensive cards in the list of what they were doing it for. I like that Hangerback got into this as I think its a cool card but its also a card that is not super expensive. I guess what I am saying is I want more of the super mythics to just be random like $5.00 cards rather than to cherry pick the most broken and expensive things they can and jam them in as something that will be seen once every 500 packs.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

Mana crypt is so broken. My first thought was affinity, but after thinking about it even more, it's going to enable so much potential combo in modern and probably even legacy.
You are trolling right? Not standard legal or modern and it's not a new card
I swear I first read it as Wingbonger...something tells me that "As Long as Wingbonger is paired with another creature, both creatures have weed." wouldn't be as good. Seems solid for limited.

Seriously don't understand how people are upset about the inventions. It offers "pimpers" cool new cards, puts more copies of good cards into circulation, and absolutely tanks the price of the rest of the cards in the set.
If you don't care about pimp cards then it just makes the cards you want from the set cheaper and potentially lowers (if only slightly) older versions of the cards.
If you are upset that your three boosters are worth less than they would've been because you didnt pull an invention, then you are doing it wrong anyway.
People really don't get the expedition thing. The expeditions are not ever going to be cards exclusive to that rarity. Complaining about the "new rarity" is silly because the cards themselves aren't more rare, just this iteration of them is. If you wanna use a card you don't have to shell out the expedition price or spin the booster roulette; just get a single of the normal version for cheaper. It's just a cool surprise that you'll very occasionally open and be happy about.
If that quote about printing $100 bills was true, it's today.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)

At 1 'masterpiece' every 144 packs, and 30 masterpieces, you'll find one mana crypt every 4320 packs
The Kaladesh Inventions look awesome! They definitely look much better than the Zendikar Expeditions did. And hopefully they will keep the price of other cards in the set down.

On the other hand, just wait until the "expedition in every set" no longer are reprints but newer cards. This looks very bad.

Before the glory of Yawgmoth, yes, even this makes sense.
the only issue I have is that hopefully they don't just make these as an excuse to make weaker sets

For my part, I am hoping for Chalice of the Void and Engineered Explosives.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Well I'm sure those will be part of it
It's sought after artifacts in this expedition set.
Especially mox opal I would be shocked if it's not in there.
On a side note, those basic lands look like we've landed in the Wonderful World of Oz
I can see them doing Platinum Angel as one of these cards in the set. Sorry if they do!
