So, after some images were uploaded in another post in this forum, I entered Chandra's profile in the wizard's web page, and I tried to save the image of Liliana whispering to Chandra. I found that the name of the card's file predetermined is Diabolic Tutor. You can check, here: http://magic.wizards.com/es/story/planeswalkers/chandra-nalaar
The audience would have gone bananas if demonic tutor was the reprint. but that card is probably I. The zone of damnation trying to refuse to reprint it.
Just reprint Dark Petition. At least that card's playable.
Seriously. Yeah, new art's nice, but the card never saw any serious competitive play. Dark Petition is the best Demonic Tutor imitation printed in a long while. We need something closer to that

They want to reprint Damnation, they are just not going to do it in a set where the "no regeneration clause" is irrelevant.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

They should simply put textless Damnation in booster packs

It's a board wipe why does there have to be a regeneration besides wouldn't the kill happen no matter what if there was regenerate.
Or are they talking about bring stuff back from the graveyard card.

So people would ignore the text anyway.
As awesome as that would be, it would confuse the hell out of newbies, so it is unlikely to happen. >.<

Damnation is a mass removal spell that reads "Destroy all creatures. They can't be regenerated" (just like Wrath of God). As such, they will not reprint it in an set where the second part of its ability ("They can't be regenerated.") doesn't matter because there aren't a number (greater than one) of creatures with regeneration as it would be completely redundant in that set.

Except, that is not what people are asking for, they specifically need Damnation because its "Can't be regenerated" clause is relevant in certain formats (such as Modern). If any black Mass Removal spell could do, there wouldn't be an issue as we get those often.

That's correct, but they won't do Damnation in a Standard set, no matter how much we want it. Black Day of Judgement, or just Day of Judgement, is the best we could hope for and even that has a minuscule chance of happening, especially with their whole "board wipes need to cost 5 mana" thing. The only places we'll get Damnation is a Masters, Conspiracy, or Commander sets.

They will do it if it is relevant to the set in which it would be printed. If they by some reason printed a set with multiple cards with regeneration, then there is a possibility of a Damnation reprint in standard. Well, that or Wrath of God, depending on the set. It is much *more* likely to see reprint in a non-standard legal set, but even then only if it would be relevant to the set in question (I.e. multiple cards with regeneration.)

I don't play a lot of modern but I do not see a lot of regeneration going on. Is it just the elf deck it would be relevant against or is there something else big I am missing? I see Thrun played occasionally too I guess.

Thrun is often the main reason in Modern, but there are a lot of formats that would like to see a reprint of Damnation, such as Commander.

Damnation being denied reprint is just limiting the supply of a high-demand Modern-legal card. Reprinting it would change supply and access, but wouldn't actually change Modern's legal cardpool. And if it were printed in a Standard set it would be a return to something they've been deliberately avoiding in standard for years, a 4 cost unconditional boardwipe. If it sees reprint it'll be in a nonstandard set.
Demonic Tutor isn't even modern legal (but would become modern legal if it were printed in a standard legal set). They have reprinted it, most recently in Duel Decks Anthology less than two years ago. They can't be that steadfast in their refusal to reprint it if they reprinted it less than two years ago. They obviously don't wish to make it Standard or Modern legal, though. This is a card that is banned in Legacy; why would it make sense to introduce it to Modern?
Neither one makes sense as a Kaladesh reprint at all, for different reasons.
Liliana tutoring Chandra? I call it: We'll see a black-and-red Chandra sometime soonish.
I think the art is for a Diabolic Tutor in Chandra's deck. The intro decks are dual coloured even if the planeswalkers are mono-coloured. Chandra's might be BR (because of Liliana's influence on her this story) and Nissa's will likely be GW

Rose tint my world, keep me safe from my trouble and pain.
Demonic tutor would warp standard around itself if it were legal, as 1B: get any card is more powerful than anything they've printed since urza block. The closest they got to it after that was the wish cycle and the wish cycle was still insanely good in standard namely cunning and burning wish.
Dark petition, while powerful, is still often times 3BB get a card, pass without using the mana. At least in season's past based decks you could get something and use it immediately, tutoring season's past usually required passing the turn unless you had that much mana.
Still the biggest fan of the original art of diabolic tutor. So nice. It did see competitive play then in mono black control, but cabal coffers was the real reason as you could fetch the coffers with it to make so much mana to do anything you wanted and it was quite good, naturally, fetching anything to facilitate controlling or winning the game as nantuko shade was also real back then and capable of killing very quickly with coffers mana.

If it's Diabolic Tutor, then it's in the set. Cards with new art are either mechanically new, or a land.
Quote from Mark Rosewater »
That means of the 60-card Planeswalker Deck, there will be four mechanically unique cards with ten total copies in the deck (one of the mythic rare, two of the rare, three of the uncommon, and four of the common). There will be fourteen cards with new art (the ten listed above plus the four copies of the dual land). All the rest of the cards will be from the large set if the Planeswalker Deck is tied to the large set and from the whole block if the Planeswalker Deck is tied to the small set. The art on all those cards will match the art used in the block.
They just reprinted Diabolic Tutor in conspiracy 2. It's not as if the card is ever used. There barely even is any standard combo. People would rather just play draw spells. I'd get excited over grim tutor reprint not diabolic tutor.
It doesn't have to be a reprint for Standard. There are other formats and people who don't play using formats. Just FYI.
