So happy to have WB for modern. Super pleased that they finished this cycle.

I can't say I'm pleased to see you and must warn you I may have to do something about it.

This cycle bothers me a bit - not because of the gameplay. But are the original fastlands reprintable outside Mirrodin? Aren't they way too setting specific to get reprinted here in Kaladesh, for example? Does anyone see an unawkward solution to this?

Duh, going back to mirrodin.
That's just not very flexible, is it? I mean, they might not want to use the space like that.
While they are certainly plane specific as blackcleave is a place on mirrodin, odds of them being reprinted in standard were already slim. Much better supplemental material or modern masters or something.

Welcome to the reason why we haven't seen the allied painlands in a while.
Pushed land cycle is released and people still complain.
This community never fails, I tell you.
*facepalms*
Of course some people will complain. A community is not a hive mind, a singular entity of contradicting itself, it's full of a lot of different individuals, many sharing one opinion, some adhering to another opinion, on various aspects of Magic. Not everyone will like aspects of the game, not everyone will agree about certain things.
I don't know why you're surprised, as that seems to be how a forum is supposed to operate, irrespective of the subject matter.
Oh my.... Is someone POKING FUN???
Well we can't have that, now can we?

Battlefield Forge is like the only plane-agnostic painland of the Apocalypse cycle I can think of. The other four namedrop locations in Dominaria.
In fact, the allied painland cycle has even more plane-agnostic names with stuff like Brushland, Sulfurous Springs and Underground River.
Anyway if you do the auditory and semantic equivalent of squinting your eyes the names of the SOM fastlands aren't exactly impossible to apply elsewhere, they don't really describe explicit locations but rather natural formations with a metallic flair. If Kaladesh weren't so upbeat I could totally believe in the existence of Darkslick Shores on the plane, depicting the Magic equivalent of an oil spill.

The other two are Adarkar Wastes and Karplusan Forest. You can't do part of the cycle without doing them all (although they could remake just those two - but then EDH players in those colours will have 2 functional copies and other colours would only have 1 - so they have to reprint the entire set with new names for balance)
Not sure how Battlefield Forge plays into this - we were talking about allied painlands. The only reason we got the enemy painlands in Origins is because Liliana is from Dominara.

Nah bro, that's too simplistic (Aside from which, it's "New Phyrexia" now). We aren't returning to New Phyrexia, New Phyrexia is returning to us. Half-way through one of these blocks, New Phyrexia is gonna go all "Rath II: Rath Harder," and just overlay on top of whatever happens to be going on in the block. I'm half-convinced that if we ever DO go back to Kamigawa, it will be because Nicol Bolas "accidentally" brings it to the attention of the Praetors out of spite (regarding the Myojin of Night's Reach/the Umezawa bloodline), and we get a sinister riff on the Meiji Restoration.
OT: I think Lantern Control is on board with the B/G land.

I agree that generic names are better for reprint purposes but the arts can be made unique without sacrificing generic-ness. If they added some sort of filigreed object in each land it would serve as a homage to the allied fast lands being all chrome-ish. I could see Mirrodin fast lands get reprinted in another plane, even in Kaladesh it would be possible to pass those landscapes. New Phyrexia shouldn't be the only plane with chromatic landscapes.
Looking closer at the lands though, the BG is just beautiful, followed by GU and RU, the other two are okay I guess. There should've been more emphasis on filigrees in the BW and RW lands.

I'm surprised EVERYONE isn't hype on these, we've been waiting to complete this cycle for a long while. This cycle has the benefit of not breaking anything as well as being useful in Eternal formats, its like best case scenario stuff here.
I'm psyched, gonna nab up all of them in the relevant colors I play with and I'll be hyped for the privilege.
Definitely not gonna miss out on key lands, nope, not after missing out on Fetches, nuh uh.
Yes! I've been waiting for these for years! Now I finally can make a decent R/W Control deck in Modern that doesn't need fetchlands, painlands, or filterlands.

Yes.
The faster the deck, the more these play like ABUR duals.
Unfortunately, I prefer slower decks
Reprint Stasis!
