Why do I have to keep feeling all these feelings??
The card seems great. Pretty standard rate for this effect with the bonus of energy gain that can be valuable with even just a single energy spender in your deck (like a certain removal spell, maybe).
Well this race seems tragic by having a small life spam. very fiting for Balck that to live to your most. This a cool side to expand on Black alignment.
Both of these cards are damn poignant - far more than normal for Black cards. Really liking the Aetherborn so far.
Mechanically, I like that it's a "free" boost to your Energy cards on top of a normal Black card draw spell. (Wonder if we'll get a "spend any number of E, draw cards equal to the amount of E spent this way" card? That'd be a solid entry into the "control" Energy package.)

These are making me sad. I'm surprised they're not Red though. But Sadness is a Black domain I suppose?
The card doesn't seem sad, it is hedonism which is red and/or black depending on the motivation.
I'm loving aertherborn, they hit so many aspects that haven't seen soon in black this much. I'm guessing in general the aertherborn focus on their pleasure above all else and since they such sort lifespans they might not have form bonds with others, so they don't have much of a community. As the legendary proves, some are even do more traditional black things since why not the won;t be around for most the repercussions. Finally most seem to accept their fate in the world.

That would be a horrible card IMO. 3 mana for a SOFT counter. Void shatter is in all ways better than this card(unless you have some card that cares about blue spells being cast since technically it's colorless). If you made it U, then we're in business. It's another form of Clash of Wills, using energy instead.

In being aware of the ephemerality of things, one can accept that there eventually must be a conclusion, and in accepting the inevitability of the end one no longer needs to be preoccupied with holding it off.

Hmm... the naming on these two cards - do you think there's the possibility that these will be a split card?
Or a DFC. It could be that this is how they do split card with permanents and, since they're already doing it, they decided to make traditional split cards also DFCs.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Folks, split cards would've been a mechanic they talked about during the panel. And it doesn't really work as a DFC.
I did consider that - afaik they didn't specifically mention coloured artifacts, and that's certainly in the set, right? They consider that a 'mechanic' in the same, unnamed way. If I missed that, then fair enough, my bad.
Colored artifacts are considered part of the deciduous features pool and so it's understandable that its presence goes without explicit announcement as a feature mechanic. Split cards are, besides being infrequent enough that attention would be called to its return, very clearly defined by the rules of the game. Same goes with DFC, so you can't use the DFC template for a split card effect. Splits are closer related to charms and modal spells anyway, DFCs are cards with multiple iterations.

I think the Aetherborn accept their demise. As we've seen on Theros, that final acceptance of finality is a black aligned trait. Positive nihilism.
