Holy***** talk about power creep. So we finally reached the udnercosted monster level. A 8/8 trampler for only 5 mana... and this thing is better then that
Not quite it is an artifact in addition to its other types which means it's already alot easier to kill. Smash to smithereens is in standard.
Or you can you know distribute your counters around so that you don't get hit so hard? Versatility is what makes it powerfull. Dying to removal isn't always a good argument even if this card has more die to removal scenarios
Smash to Smitereens only matters if artifacts are prevelant to the point that you would want to main deck artifact destruction. Doom Blade/Ultimate Price/Murder, etc. are better answers. It isn't even a card that necessarily wants other artifacts in the deck.
I remember the days when an 8/8 trample for 5 didn't get an upside... I guess green can pretty much do anything as long as it is vanilla, and costs 2GG or more.

Umm
You know that's rotating when kaladesh comes out right?
Not a single mention of Eldrazi Displacer up to now... really? Wouldn't call the card busted by itself, but definitely promising. Cool to have colored artifacts back, albeit it's a bit weird to see green, the color that outright hates them, creating such monsters.
Thought about it. But, with painlands rotating out, I guess it will no longer be a freebie to include a colorless mana sources in your 2 or 3-color decks.
Spectral Force doesn't count at all. It's from a throwback set, combining 2 drawback creatures for nostalgia. It was a set they cut Spiritmonger from the timeshifted sheet for being too good compared to the nostalgia fat they were going to print. It was actively bad like Jokulmorder from the previous set, Coldsnap to reminisce about terribad fat like Polar Kraken (reserved list) and Leviathan that they put on the timeshifted sheet. We'd already had Plated Slagwurm by then and the formerly great Kamigawa spirit dragons. The very next block in Lorwyn we got Cloudthresher and a whole cycle of 6/6 for 6 with evasion and a bonus effect. They even shuffled themselves in so that elemental tutor they pushed to 1 mana could put them back on top of your deck for recasting and made the block's reanimation spell instant so you could target them before they shuffled. While they didn't see play, they tried. The 3 colored mana symbols probably killed them, though, which led to the titans soon after, which led to *****ing about them "replacing" all the other fat. In reality, though, the Souls proved that if you made the titans much weaker they'd go in the trash bin with Terra Stomper.
The amount of counters each target creature will receive is decided when the ability triggers or when it resolves? Also, if it's when it resolves can I choose zero?
I somehow find it tragic when an attacking Traveling Philosopher gets blocked by another Traveling Philosopher, which normally results in two dead philosophers. Shouldn't they just sit aside and start discussing?
"This is really exciting, so much to find out about, so much to look forward to, I'm quite dizzy with anticipation . . . Or is it the wind? There really is a lot of that now, isn't there? And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming toward me very fast? Very, very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide-sounding name like . . . ow . . . ound . . . round . . . ground! That's it! That's a good name- ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me? Hello Ground!"
Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the Sprouting Phytohydra as it fell was Oh no, not again.

1. You decide how many counters to give to each target creature on resolution.Edit: It looks like I'm wrong here. You decide the amount of counters when you choose targets, that is when ability triggers.
2. I believe, you cannot give 0 counters. You have to give at least one counter to each creature you targeted.
This is kind of absurd, right? Remember when Force of Nature was considered a crazy good creature? I mean really, it never was, but people used to think that. What's the next comparable creature to this? Spectral Force? Yeah, this card is busted.

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
Wolfir Silverheart actually ended up being a sleeper when it was in Standard, this card is better in most areas (except that it dies to artifact removal). Still, the buff it gives isn't relying on it being in play, and you can distribute it how you like. Card seems good and I expect it to see play. Still lots of PWs that make tokens, not to mention Kaladesh thopter tokens.
Also - making a straightforward card is not bad or lazy design. Not every card has to be a burrito of abilities. You could say that such a simple card is uninteresting at Mythic, but I don't think y'all can be surprised.
I'd rate this as a teensy bit worse wolfir silverheart, but that card was so friggin good, so this one is too. The effect is (uncommon), but the power is between (rare) and (Mythic).

Making a straight forward, brick to the face beater a Mythic rare is either lazy design or cash grab design.

That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating. Take it back!
Yeah, really can see this in Delirium decks. Been looking forward to Kaladesh because having a card with two types will help Delirium so much. As of right now, it's Hangerback, Hedron Crawler, or Pilgrim's Eye, which are not that great. Now the deck has a great top end with this card to help achieve Delirium with ease. This will pump Flayers, Advocates, Trackers, and Spider Tokens. This thing will be a beast.
It is a wise choice to make this mythic. It would completely mess with draft if this were only a rare. As for card quality, it feels like it is between rare and mythic. I expect it will be a good card and people will use it. I know I would.

RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.
Wow. I'm fine with green getting big dumb creatures. It's when they cheat a bunch of effient small creatures into play at instant speed green become OP. This seams a tad over the top(3 counters feels about right) but we have yet to see the power level for the other colors. This in a Temur deck with Saheeli to generate a bunch of 1/1s is amazing.
Also, this could make werewolf tribal a thing in constructed. Along with Arlin Cord and the almost ready to break out wolves. This does exactly what you want a 5 drop to do. Make an immediate impact and still be good the next turn.
Geez. I think my Vorel deck definitely wants one. Man, there are so many good +1+1 counter support cards now, I can never find something to cut from that deck.
I'm perplexed that this isn't a Golem. I've always thought of Constructs as the scrawny, utility-focused counterparts to the bulky, smashy Golems. And I can't call it a BFG. :C
I didn't expect to see colored artifacts in this block. I thought they would leave those an Esper thing in case we return to Alara. Wouldn't vehicles and a focus on artifact tokens have been enough as Kaladesh's flavor of artifact matters without poaching on Esper's territory?
Those are obviously different. I should have said "artifacts that need colored mana to be cast" are Esper's thing.
Theros' Gods apparently stoletheirartifactsfromEsper. Esper-style artifacts are a tool R&D can use whenever the situation calls for it. Not to mention if the Amonkhet Gods turn out to be artifact creatures that care about devotion, this will be a key seed.

They can't all be multicolor legendaries with unique abilities. Sometimes all it takes is a BFC.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
