Hard to argue this card is anything but amazing. The kind of creature that control decks play on curve that makes you know you're probably going to lose.
Even if it does turn on removal which control decks want to avoid they have to tap their mana for that removal instead of a threat then you draw a card.
They just had to have both words in the name start with the same letters just like Solemn Simulacrum as well, didn't they?
Well, for all its cuteness I'll still rather pay 1 more if it meant ramping instead of gaining 2 life in EDH, at least and considering colorless ramping was a major selling point, I'm not even sure this makes the cut for "weaker extra copy". Still cute though.
If you are playing Commander, why not play both? One for ramp, other for lifegain, both for card draw.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
So I saw Owen Turtenwald calling this "the new Thragtusk" on Twitter and it got me thinking. I have a single Thragtusk in my Modern R/G Tron sideboard and I just hate it. It's ostensibly in there to shore up the Burn matchup, but often it comes too late, or getting the green mana is awkward, or by the time I can cast it I already have Tron anyway. This still costs three, which is a lot, and only gains two life, but it trades for a Goblin Guide when it counts while also negating 2/3 of a Lightning Bolt, and you get an extra card to boot. One or two of them in post-board vs. Burn or even Affinity might just buy you the time you need to stabilize the board.
I will be playing it in at least the sideboard of my U tron deck... replacing bottle gnomes (lol)... it will also be in my peasent cube and is likely to see play in standard as an emerge conduit.
I am considering a testing out a mostly artifact based version of U tron so I can try to run inventors fair, but I'd be losing out on some powerful cards to build it like that (like thought-knot and Ugin) but perhaps the synergy will be strong enough.

Thoughts?
I would definitely play this over tusky in modern, if you dont hit tron you are likely dead before tusk can even help. It would be good to still have wurmcoil for matchups where this isnt enough.
Yeah, I play 3 wurmcoils main board and I rarely board them out. I'm thinking cutting the Thragtusk and one Warping Wail for two Filigrees once Kaladesh drops.

I think I want this card to rotate already

Just a small note, because it will annoy me forever if I don't point it out: Serrated Biskelion is from Weatherlight, not Shadowmoor.
