Translation: When it ETB, gain 2 life. When it dies, draw a card.
That fox construct is great. Blocks, gives you life, draws a card. I'm sure it will see standard play.
I don't like the Rashmi card though.
Rashmi is bonkers good. Seriously, at worst she is card advantage, at best she'll give you a massive tempo advantage.
Might be, I just dont see her anywhere in constructed. She's too conditional, too expensive, and needs a lot of building around.
I won't lie if I tell you I'd rather pull a foiled fox construct out of the pack than her since there's a huge chance a lot of us will be playing with the fox in constructed.
4 mana in Standard, with green as one of the colors is not that much. You could fairly easily have her out turn three. And while yes, getting the bonus of a card directly onto the battlefield is nice, if she survives, you're getting card advantage. The first spell you cast either cascades or cantrips, and that's at least a 2 mana bonus on any creature. And the removal at current is juuust weak enough that she'll be able to semi-reliably stick around.
+1 for just a Scry 1 & 1 damage ? It seems very very low Impact.
-2 to copy something on the board & attack with it for only 1 turn ?
-8 Nice finisher for artifacts maybe.
i dont know. She can not defend herself at all. both her abilities seem underpowered.
But maybe useful in Aggro ? +1 make sure you draw fuel & burn. -2 copy anything to attack immediately.
i cant see any other uses for her yet.
Nissa & Liliana are on a highter Powerlevel
She is definitely a much more narrow card than the latest lilly, but her -2 is a pretty solid effect for 3 mana. Having the walker stick around to be dealt with afterward is great, and while you wouldn't play her for her +1, it is at least something that is always useful while ticking up to the ult if you have your deck built for it or just to rebuy the -2. Just thinking about current standard U/R creatures, Bedlam Reveler, Awoken Horror, and Drowner of Hope (yes, it's colorless...) all seem like outstanding targets.
After hearing and seeing more I like it even less. The whole vehicle mechanic is silly and for me, personally, dosn't fit mtg. I also dislike the vehicle borders and the energy gimmick.
So far I'm very dissapointed.
Yeah, I really could have done without vehicles. There have been vehicles in magic for basically forever without needing their own card type, and while they seem to be quite proud of the mechanic, I don't really like it or the border. It might turn out to be quite good in aggro depending on the cards they print with the mechanic, and it is almost certainly going to be all over limited, but I still can't bring myself to want to play it. I also hate the border. I've got major border fatigue already. They need to stop using card frame as design space.
Energy I like in theory, but not in execution. I mentioned using charge counters on a container that exists in the command zone in an earlier post as an alternative, but it could have been much simpler to use emblems. For example:
Architect of the Untamed 2G
Creature- Elf Artificer Druid
Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you get an emblem with "sacrifice this to gain (E)"
Pay (E)(E)(E)(E)(E)(E): Create a 6/6 colorless Beast artifact creature token.
"Next to my design skills, WoTC's seem like a pale imitation ;-p "
2/3
This of course could be iterated on, but still feels cleaner than the mechanic as presented at PAX to me.
I answered this same question earlier. They mentioned this in the panel. It was done specifically to make it more obvious in draft that, if you're picking up energy producing cards this is something you should take a look at, and if you are not then to go ahead and ignore it.
What the heck kind of reasoning is that?
Do people not read the cards in the packs they're drafting...?
If you're only skimming the cards, or only reading ones in the colors you like, or something, you're going to have a bad time. This game naturally involves reading a lot... Making the energy symbols hard to count is just going to make it take longer to read...

We're probably going to get Energy Counter token cards (like we got Poison Counter and Experience Counter token cards), and these can't be removed so functionally what they're doing is no different?

She is a four mana creature. No matter what spell you cast on the turn after she hits the battlefield, she will give you an advantage. Say you cast a five mana spell on your turn after she hits the battlefield (and you should if you are on curve), then reveal a powerful four mana card, like say for example Identity Thief or Startled Awake, that is an immense amount of card advantage right there. And even if you should end up revealing something like Lashweed Lurker, you still get to put the card into your hand to use later. It is always advantage.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
How would using emblems (a mechanic WotC wants to keep restricted to Planeswalkers.) make the design more elegant than just using counters on players? Counters are made to be interacted with while emblems aren't so using them as glorified gild tokens sounds like an awful idea.
Sure, there is a chance of spending $4 on a booster and getting the Mythic Rare $30 super card. There is also a chance of surviving putting your tongue in a light socket.
Some cards from the official Twitter have not been posted here yet. Nothing too exciting, but more examples of the mechanics.

Really want that artifact fox/animal for my Glissa, the Traitor deck. Simic Elf looks sweet for my friend's Momir deck. Might finally buy a box or two of stuff!

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
Wait..... can you stack Lashweed Lurker's ability with Rashmi, Eternities Crafter's? Basically returning Rashmi to the top of your library only to reveal it to Lurker and play it for free for 1UG? That seems decent right?
Re: Glint-Sleeved Artisan: Has mono-white ever gotten a 3/3 for 3 at common? Much less one with an option to go wide as well? That's something new, for drafters at least.

How does start your engines fit the flavor if you can attack with your vehicles without using a creature "crew" to pilot them???
You know that part in movies where the inanimate constructs suddenly go all murdery summer movie Skynet mayhem? Or when someone starts a car and sends it flying at the Rock
But really, it's just a little bit of the aether doing it's thing I think.
Ok sure most will disagree but vehicles=blah to me. Not just the mechanics of them we have seen but the whole idea of vehicles and flying ships does not fit my view of fantasy gaming. Steampunk fans will love the set and good for them, but for me they are dead on arrival. I do though like the idea of MEDIEVAL fantasy settings outside of European myths and terminology.

The way they're doing things is plenty fantasy. It's not medieval fantasy, but that isn't the only kind of fantasy there is. It feels kind of like Eberron of DnD to me, though obviously not a strict match.
I do agree vehicles aren't very interesting, but I'm not much one for artifacts in general. Still enjoying the flavor of Kaladesh a lot though, it's different and bright at least. Innistrad was far too bleak for me.
It's a R/W legendary that isn't about attacking things, while also having an ability that helps it promote aggression with vehicles. I really enjoy the design of that creature. Two thumbs up honestly. It's nice for Boros to have more options in commanders that aren't about attacking too.
As a control player, only the energy mechanic really excites me (and Ian Duke confirmed that some energy control cards will be in the set). Typically wizards prints one cancel w/ upside counterspell per set. I'd love for that to be something like "1UU. You may pay {E}{E} instead of paying this spell's mana cost. Counter target spell." I think this would be quite balanced (early game its terrible, late game -after you accumulated energy- it becomes fantastic.) Though probably it'll be something like "1UU: counter target spell. You get (some number of) {E}". Similarly, I'm pretty sure there'll be a removal and card draw energy spell that have the same syntaxis.
I also hope that cheap playable artifacts make it so that artificer's epiphany can finally be playable as an instant speed divination (yes, I know it's rotating, but that origins card was Kaladesh inspired, so maybe they'll reprint it).
So Dwarves are back with an interesting boros legend who isnt hellbent on attacking (but it does help). Furious reprisal seems fine for limited, new walker seems pretty great and new black legend is interesting.
That legendary artefact seems very easy to abuse, particularly in EDH and the Vehicles will make limited very interesting when you have little otherwise useless creatures to crew them. All in all it's looking pretty great so far.

Saheeli: Oh no the aether revolt is going to happen. What can I do to stop it?
Liliana and Chandra: Make out with us.

From Saheeli's characterization in Wednesday's story we can be pretty sure she is on the side of the Renegades in the long run.
