If your Dwarf art could go onto a Human card without anyone noticing, you've got a problem with your dwarf execution.
Dwarfs look like short humans. The dwarfs I've seen look like short humans...

Presumably, she was created because the story called for someone to assassinate Brago. She's black because... why not? Planeswalkers, thanks to their ability to teleport between worlds, rarely have a narrative requirement for any particular ethnicity. Why not use that freedom to represent players?
Serious answer I once recieved to this question: How can there be black people in (FICTIONAL WORLD) when there isn't an Africa in (FICTIONAL WORLD)?
Aside from the fact that they actually DID have an Africa (Jamuraa), that's a question only someone completely lacking in imagination would ask.
So, if the Aetherborn are Protoss, do they refer to Aether as minerals or as vespene gas? And being in black, are swamps now pylons? I just want to catch my opponent at the pre-release trying to cast something, but he's one mana short, and I can just say, "You must construct additional pylons."
Didn't have time to follow the stream. Did they spill any lore about the Aetherborn?
Not really. Just that they're "patrons of the arts," natural denizens of the plane due to the amount of aether, and the usual roguish/thuggish variants. Might've missed a blurb though.

When * enters the battlefield, look at the top four cards of target opponent's library, exile one of them face down, then put the rest on the bottom of tht library in a random order. For as long as that card remains exiled, you may look at it, you may cast it, and you may pay mana as though it were mana of any type to cast it.

Never before have I ever had the slightest inclination to build Dwarf tribal, even during Eventide. Depala though. She's the first RW commander that actually puts cards in your hands. Ugh I'm excited, just wishing the Dwarf tribe had way more to work with.
My Ezuri, Claw of Progress EDH deck is very focused on +1/+1 and poison counters with some heavy proliferate action. The reveal of Energy as a mechanic and more +1/+1 counters has me excited to see what goodies may be in store for Ezuri.
Serious answer I once recieved to this question: How can there be black people in (FICTIONAL WORLD) when there isn't an Africa in (FICTIONAL WORLD)?
How can there be humans at all without Africa? By the dominant account, we all trace our ancestry back to that continent. In evolutionary terms, humans anywhere there's sufficient sunlight could plausibly have darker skin. And if it's not based on evolution, then anything goes. I mean, why do Vedalken have blue skin?
Since this is the flagship, can we assume there won't be any larger vehicule in the set?
That dwarf... well, I guess they wanted to amend for not printing dwarves for so long. They packed her to the brim with abilities and clear synergy and direction. I won't dump on, finally, a Boros legend that is not combat-oriented, but will we ever get vehicules outside of kaladesh? Outside kaladesh, she's a dwarf lord and dwarf tutor. Not bad, but nothing crazy either.
(Just replace dwarf by goblin every where and she'd be bonker.)

Because their ancestors lived in the forests, hiding themselves among the blueberry bushes.
And that dude just wasted everyone else's time for questions.
Way to go champ.
What happened? Was he one of those guys who started with "big fan, playing since (x year)...." then goes on to list his favorite colors, commander, WoW guild, etc. And then ask what Maro's favorite plane was?
Man, too bad werewolf lovers didn't have a big champion on their side like guy who talked about his love of Dwarves. Then maybe we could have got a halfway decent Werewolf tribal legend /stillsalty
I'm not big on the setting or the main races here and artifacts are probably my least favorite card type, but some pretty fun cards spoiled so far and the world does look beautiful. Vehicles look like they'll confuse a lot of new players though.
Saheeli is bad in Modern. I guess she could copy Snapcaster once at sorcery speed but Nahiri just seems so much better for a midrange permanent in Jeskai. The -2 is anti-synergistic with Jace, Keranos, or Kalitas in Grixis Control. Affinity wants nothing to do with a 3-drop that can't alpha-strike with Cranial Plating.
None of the new vehicles seem playable but I am looking forward to referring to them as "cars" and referring to my attack step as "put 3 guys in a car, vroom" as I declare attackers.

More or less, except it was more about finally seeing an India themed set and how they are approaching doing it respectfully. So basically one of those mixed with one of those diversity/PC questions.
Notice how 2 of the 3 questions that were asked were about PC stuff rather than the game itself.
+1 for just a Scry 1 & 1 damage ? It seems very very low Impact.
-2 to copy something on the board & attack with it for only 1 turn ?
-8 Nice finisher for artifacts maybe.
i dont know. She can not defend herself at all. both her abilities seem underpowered.
But maybe useful in Aggro ? +1 make sure you draw fuel & burn. -2 copy anything to attack immediately.
i cant see any other uses for her yet.
Vehicules are basically equipments with different ups and down. Both require a guy, but vehicules stay more independent. If you kill the vehicule, it doesn't kill its crew. Having haste means it's like an equipment granting haste. Without, it's worse than an equipment for creatures already in play.
I do hope they made vehicules with secondary ability not dependent on being crewed. I also kinda wish it would stay animated instead of having to do it every turn. It feels worse, even though its equivalent to being an equipment. (No other creatures = no attack in both cases.)
I do not like energy. Too parasitic, doesn't mesh with other blocks at all. I'd have preferred mana tokens. (energy mana, like snow mana, if they needed a way to balance some cards.) I guess the way energy works allows them to balance energy producer and consumer cards without affecting mana-based balancing. Still, it has the same problem ingest had: you need both producers and consumers. I suppose they will make cards that look super-pushed but are really bad in reality like:
Super-Cheap Monster 0
As an additional cost to cast ~, pay 10 energy.
Flying Trample, Haste
13/13
Vehicles differentiate from equipment by having no equip cost and by setting power/toughness vs. sometimes pumping them.
Energy differs from ingesters/processors in that (they say) most of the cards that involve energy both provide a means to get it and a means to use it. It is basically charge counters that go on the player instead of the artifact that creates it from what I can tell, and I kind of wish they instead actually used charge counters and added an object that would go into the command zone to hold them until used.
interesting dwarf flavor, although I say these are reminiscent of Gnomes, although dwarves with airships makes me think of Final Fantasy 4, the airship just needs a drill on it.
I have to agree with them though that the prototypical fantasy dwarf displays a lot of white characteristics. Inventor gnome tropes are more red.

We try not to touch on the politicized nonsense here and moderators do their best to keep threads on topic and well away from those fun subjects, but world building panels get their Q&A time eaten up by people asking questions about social issues instead of design or story matters, and this was no exception. Most of the question time was spend on representation of race, ethnicity, body size, I kind of tuned out but maybe someone brought up autism spectrum? I'm far more interested in how the designers created a new environment with explicit constraints in mind like "Positive upbeat atmosphere to contrast with typical grimdark fantasy- ie no necromancy- but still keep black fully fleshed out yet not cartoony like lorwyn" or how the fabric of aetherworks is woven through the architecture and lifecycles of the ecosystem to the point the cities are almost living and breathing organisms- but instead we got to listen to whether wizards were misappropriating indian culture in a set about artificers.
well at least the dwarfs didn't offend anyone... yet
There are currently 38 Dwarves in MTG, 3 of which you can't use in the Dwarf EDH deck with the new Legend. In other words...right now the quantity of Dwarves comes up a bit short.

No? Why that even be a thing? Only we reason we had 1.5 DFC per pack in SOI block is because double face cards are on their own print sheet.
