It is showing that this card is the first of the five storyline event cards. Looks like the are marking them this time as well as showing which story has the event that card is showing.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
By the copyright information: "Story Spotlight 1/5"
Also, on the right side, a web address: mtgstory.com
Which shows more cards to be revealed along with new story articles, presumably. Does this mean we'll continue to get story at an accelerated rate, to fit all these chapters into the preview season?
The last story marked with a card is #9, and the full spoiler probably goes up 2 Friday's from tomorrow, so they'd have to release 3 a week (probably M,W,F) to hit that. Would be absolutely awesome, but also seems very unlikely. I could easily see them revealing all cards before the stories that correspond to them come out.
Edit: Also, very excited about the card itself as an eggs player. Killing from a board of Bloom, Opal, Citadel, KCI and Fair with only a Faith's Reward in hand is pretty snazzy. Though I suspect the lifegain will annoy people more than they might expect by the time it rotates out.
Kemba could always use more tutors and something that can find Crucible of Worlds at the same time to continue the card-quality train is very welcome. This is something I didn't know was missing from my life. Thanks R&D!
Metalcraft Land
Legendary Land [R]
Metalcraft- At the beginning of your upkeep, you gain 1 life.
T: Add C to your mana pool.
Metalcraft- 4, T: Sacrifice Inventors' Fair: Search your library for an artifact card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.
I got no speculation on any special watermarks.

Wizards fixed some old card Oracle text to Domain. Will they do the same with Metalcraft?
Not necessarily, or else they'd "have to" put Morbid on a few cards in SoI block, Emissary of the Sleepless being one such example.
Inventor's Fair is basically a card where they wanted to use something from the past (Metalcraft's "three artifacts") but they didn't want it to be a focus of the set, so it doesn't get the ability word. In other words, it calls back to it without drawing attention to the fact there could be 1-3 cards with "three artifacts matters" when we'd "expect" 7+ (if it were a primary mechanic).
Ever since a while now each set contains five cards that each highlight important story moments (e. g. (many spoilers ) Sorin finding Ugin's grave in KTK; Ulamog trapped in a Hedron alignment in BFZ; Kozilek's Return in OGW; Kozilek's and Ulamog's weakening and obliteration was spread over two cards in OGW; most recently: Emrakul banished into Innistrad's moon in EMN). It seems like they decided for Kaladesh (and probably the upcoming future) to turn these five cards into special promos (with planeswalker watermark) that will presumably be spoiled in order to serve as guideposts for the community to follow along the story.
So basically it's a new promos for cards that would have been there anyway. I can only assume there is also a plan to distribute these at some special event. (THey should be reasonably desirable - the cards have so far been not too shabby in power level or uniqueness as you can tell by Kozilek's Return - they are probably pushed in development the same way important characters are. )
This seems like a great idea to me. I hoped the Story Spotlight cards would be pointed out anyway and this is a great way to do so and enhance their intented effect: Introducing the community to the storyline. This seems like it is destined to be a staying feature since it aligns with WotC interests so well.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Good card although unexciting. With clues and thopter tokens I expect to turn "metalcraft" on very easily, but I'm not sure what artifact would I tutor for. Let's hope they print something broken.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Joy. Just what Affinity needs to tutor up the missing piece they haven't barfed onto the table.

No, I get it, but I found it a bit surprising at first that they felt the need to hold our hands through the storyline with a series of sequential, numbered cards as a means of guiding us through the lore.
After half a day to reflect on it, though, it makes sense.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Joy. Just what Affinity needs to tutor up the missing piece they haven't barfed onto the table.
It costs quite a lot though (5 mana if you count tapping the land itself), Affinity will not crack this before turn 3 and will have to spend a whole turn on it. I'm okay with them having an extra ravager or plating (remember, this doesn't get Nexus) as long as thy slow themselves by a full turn for it. If they get Oracle with this it could potentially be more worrying tough.
This is kind of a manasink for when you run out of gas like Sea Gate Wreckage is right now in some lists, so I doubt they will be slowing down much for the extra Ravager or Plating.
I was just thinking artifact decks had been getting a little week. That's going in my esper edh deck for sure.

DECKS:
Commander:
Aurelia the Warleader - Combat Tricks and Swarm
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic - Lifegain/Lifedrain Pillowfort
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice - Token Assault
Meren of Clan Nel Toth - Reanimator Value
Mizzix - Out of the Box Spellslinger
For consistency sake they should really put the mechanic words on cards, even if theres just 1 of them.
I mean, seriously, this looks super inkonsequent and the point of the mechanics like "metalcraft" is just to have a word for it and see that cards have the very same condition.
Wouldnt hurt , just as landfall should be on cards that actually have landfall , would be much appreciated.

Past Ruminations
Links are broken, will fix in near future.
- Kaladesh
- Zendikar
- Rise of the Eldrazi
- Alara Reborn
- Innistrad <- Personal Favorite
- Dark Ascension
- Avacyn Restored
- Theros
- Return to Ravnica
- Tarkir
I don't mind the story being spotlighted, but I wish it went back to ye olden story days of Tempest, when every card was a story spotlight.

But more seriously, this is quite powerful, as land-spells have much less answers than regular spells.
